Third Person POV

They stepped out of the cafe laughing, the late afternoon sun casting long shadows on the street, the city still buzzing around them.

Section E walked ahead in a messy cluster, Percy arguing about which side had better lighting for pictures while Aries mocked his poses.

Jay walked beside Keifer, their fingers loosely intertwined, her shoulder brushing his arm every few seconds.

Eces walked slightly ahead, eyes calm but scanning, steps steady, senses sharp.

Keiren skipped near her. "Ate, where are we going next?"

"Somewhere interesting," she replied softly, but her gaze never stopped moving.

They crossed a slightly crowded lane when it happened.

A man in a cap bumped into Keiren a little too hard.

Keiren stumbled back. "Hey—"

Before anyone else reacted, Eces caught the man's wrist mid-step.

Her grip was firm. Controlled.

The laughter around them faded for a second.

"Watch where you're going," she said calmly.

Her tone wasn't loud.

It didn't need to be.

The man tried to pull away, but her fingers tightened just slightly.

His expression shifted. Recognition? Fear?

"Sorry," he muttered quickly before freeing himself and disappearing into the crowd faster than necessary.

Section E started talking again almost instantly.

"People can't walk properly these days," Percy complained dramatically.

Aries rolled his eyes. "Drama king."

But Keigan had noticed.

So had Krish.

And Keifer.

Eces released a slow breath and continued walking like nothing happened.

Jay looked up at Keifer. "That was weird."

Keifer didn't answer immediately.

His eyes were on Eces' back.

"She reacted too fast," he murmured quietly.

Jay tilted her head. "You think something's wrong?"

He hesitated. "I don't know… but she knew that wasn't an accident."

Jay squeezed his hand gently.

"Hey," she said softly, stepping closer, her free hand resting lightly on his chest. "Don't overthink."

He looked down at her.

Her eyes were warm. Trusting.

For a second, the noise of the street faded.

He brushed a strand of hair away from her face. "Stay close to me."

She smiled playfully. "I was planning to."

She laced her fingers with his again, leaning her head briefly against his shoulder as they walked.

Ahead of them, Eces slowed her pace just slightly.

Her expression had changed.

Not fear.

Calculation.

She touched the pendant around her neck unconsciously.

Someone was watching.

And now she was certain of it.

Krish moved closer to her side. "You felt it too?" he asked under his breath.

"Yes," she replied without looking at him.

Behind them, Keifer tightened his hold on Jay just a little more.

He didn't know what was coming.

But he could feel it.

And the city suddenly didn't feel as friendly as it had an hour ago.

They decided to head to a nearby mall, the glass doors sliding open as cool air rushed over them, instantly refreshing everyone.

Percy stretched dramatically. "Finally, civilization."

Honey and Grace rushed toward a clothing store, already arguing about colors.

Aries and Rakki disappeared toward the sneaker section, debating brands like it was a life decision.

Keiren's eyes lit up when he spotted a toy store.

Ci-n gasped even louder than him. "Wait— look at that!"

Without hesitation, both of them ran toward the toy section, Ci-n clearly more excited than Keiren despite pretending to act mature most of the time.

Krish followed them to make sure they didn't break anything.

Meanwhile, Jay dragged Keifer into a soft-toned boutique.

She held up a light lavender dress in front of herself. "Be honest."

Keifer looked at her from head to toe before smirking. "You'll make it look better than it does."

She narrowed her eyes playfully. "That wasn't a direct answer."

"It's the only one you're getting."

A few stores away, Eces walked calmly, Grazel resting peacefully in her arms, only five months old and completely unaware of the chaos around her.

Grazel's tiny fingers clutched Eces' chain as she blinked sleepily.

Eces adjusted the baby gently, her expression softening for a rare moment.

Section E slowly gathered bags — clothes, sneakers, accessories, matching bracelets, small souvenirs, and even a ridiculous plush toy Ci-n insisted on buying.

After nearly two hours of shopping, laughing, and Percy forcing mirror selfies, they finally gathered at the billing counter of one of the larger stores.

Items were placed on the counter.

The cashier began scanning.

Jay reached for her wallet.

Keifer casually prepared to pay for a few things he picked.

"Stop."

Eces' voice was calm but firm.

Everyone froze mid-movement.

The cashier looked confused. "Ma'am?"

Eces stepped forward slightly, Grazel still resting quietly against her.

"There's no need to bill this."

Silence.

Percy blinked. "Is this… a surprise discount?"

Krish looked like he was trying not to smile.

Eces looked directly at the cashier. "This mall comes under the Mariano branch."

The cashier's expression changed instantly. Recognition.

Within seconds, the manager hurried over.

"Yes, ma'am."

The scanner was turned off.

Section E stared in complete shock.

Ci-n whispered, "Wait… what just happened?"

Keiren looked between Jay and Eces. "Ate…?"

Jay crossed her arms slowly, staring at her sister. "You didn't think to mention this?"

Eces shrugged lightly. "You were enjoying shopping."

Keifer watched the exchange quietly, a faint smirk on his lips.

"So," he said casually, "we just shopped without paying?"

The manager nodded respectfully. "Everything is covered."

Grazel made a small sleepy sound, shifting slightly in Eces' arms.

Eces adjusted her again and turned toward the exit. "Let's go."

Staff members subtly lowered their heads as they walked out.

Ci-n clutched the plush toy dramatically. "I feel powerful."

Aries laughed. "You did nothing."

Jay walked beside Eces now, lowering her voice. "You could have told us."

Eces' gaze flicked briefly toward the upper floors. "Some things aren't necessary to announce."

Keifer noticed that look.

Not pride.

Not arrogance.

Alertness.

And as they stepped out of the mall, high above on the balcony, someone stood watching them leave.

Eces felt it again.

Closer.

Keifer's POV

The ride back felt different.

Not loud like before.

Not chaotic.

Everyone was tired from shopping, from walking, from laughing too much.

Jay was sitting beside me, her head resting lightly on my shoulder, fingers loosely hooked with mine.

But something felt… off.

I noticed it when Eces went quiet.

She was looking out the window, not relaxed — focused.

Krish was the same.

He wasn't on his phone.

He wasn't talking.

He was watching the side mirrors.

I straightened slightly.

Jay noticed. "What happened?" she asked softly.

"Nothing," I said, but my eyes shifted toward Eces.

And that's when I knew.

She felt it too.

That subtle tension in her jaw.

That stillness.

Like she was listening to something none of us could hear.

The car slowed at a signal.

For a second, I felt it.

Like eyes.

On us.

Watching.

Tracking.

Then the signal turned green.

The feeling didn't disappear.

It followed.

By the time we reached home, my grip on Jay's hand had tightened without me realizing.

We stepped out.

The house gates closed behind us.

And yet—

Eces paused near the entrance.

Just for a second.

Her eyes scanned the street once more.

Then she walked in like nothing happened.

Inside, everyone immediately dropped their bags and collapsed dramatically.

Percy flopped on the couch. "I can't feel my legs."

Ci-n slid to the floor. "Worth it."

Jay laughed softly and leaned against me.

Grazel made a small sleepy sound in Eces' arms.

Eces turned to Denzel. "Take her."

Her voice was calm.

Denzel stepped forward carefully and took the five-month-old from her, holding her gently.

Then Eces looked at us. "I have something to do."

Krish didn't even ask what.

He just followed her.

I watched them walk toward her room.

The door closed.

Jay looked up at me. "Do you think something's wrong?"

I exhaled slowly. "I think… they felt something."

She didn't ask more.

She trusted her sister.

The exhaustion finally hit everyone at once.

No one had the energy to go to their rooms.

So the living room became a battlefield of blankets and pillows.

Jay pulled me down beside her on one side of the large couch.

She curled slightly toward me, and I wrapped an arm around her automatically.

Aries and Ella claimed the other couch, still arguing about who took more space.

Calix and Mica settled on the rug with cushions.

Ci-n and Rakki dragged a mattress halfway across the floor.

Percy and Honey ended up near the center, Percy still mumbling complaints before passing out.

Freya and Edrix took the corner near the window.

Grace sat beside Denzel, who was holding Grazel carefully until she fully fell asleep, then they both leaned back against the wall.

Keiren tried to talk for another five minutes before knocking out mid-sentence.

Keigan, Felix, Blaster, Kit, Mayo, Eman, Eren, Josh, David, Drew, Rory, and Yuri all found random spaces across the floor and couches, too tired to even argue.

Within minutes, the room was quiet.

Soft breathing.

Blankets shifting.

The dim light from the lamp near the stairs.

Jay's hand rested over my chest.

Her breathing slow.

Peaceful.

But I couldn't sleep.

Because upstairs, behind that closed door—

Eces and Krish weren't resting.

And whatever they felt on the road…

I was sure it wasn't nothing.

I carefully adjusted the blanket around Jay.

She shifted slightly but didn't wake.

Her fingers loosened from my shirt.

I brushed a strand of hair away from her face.

"Sleep," I murmured quietly.

Then I stood up.

The living room was silent now.

Everyone completely knocked out.

I walked upstairs.

Each step felt louder than usual.

Eces' door was closed.

Of course it was.

I knocked twice.

A pause.

Then the door opened.

Krish stood there.

He didn't look surprised to see me.

He just stepped aside silently.

I walked in.

Eces was leaning against the bench near her desk, arms crossed, gaze lowered like she was thinking ten steps ahead.

The room felt heavier than the rest of the house.

Krish closed the door behind me.

The click sounded final.

I looked at her. "Something's wrong."

It wasn't a question.

Her eyes lifted slowly to meet mine.

"You felt it."

"I'm not blind."

Krish moved to stand beside the wall, quiet but alert.

I stepped closer. "On the way back. Someone was following us."

Eces didn't deny it.

"The threat of Kaizer is still lurking," she said calmly.

The name alone made the air colder.

I clenched my jaw. "I thought that was handled."

"So did he," she replied.

Krish exhaled softly. "But people like him don't step back. They wait."

I frowned. "You're sure it was connected?"

Eces didn't answer immediately.

That pause told me enough.

"There are movements," she said carefully. "Small ones. Testing boundaries."

"Then why didn't you say anything downstairs?"

"Because panic makes noise," she replied. "And noise attracts attention."

I ran a hand through my hair. "So what's the plan?"

Krish finally spoke. "We increase internal security. No one goes out alone."

Eces looked directly at me then.

"Stay close to Jay."

The tone wasn't protective.

It was strategic.

"She's not a target," I said immediately.

Eces' gaze sharpened slightly. "Everyone around me and you are a potential leverage point."

That hit harder than I expected.

I stepped closer. "If Kaizer tries something—"

"He won't try directly," she cut in. "Not yet."

There was something else in her eyes.

Something she wasn't saying.

I noticed.

But I didn't push.

"You're not telling me everything," I said quietly.

A faint, almost invisible smile touched her lips. "I'm telling you enough."

Krish glanced at her briefly.

A silent exchange.

There was more.

I could feel it.

But she wasn't going to say it.

"Just stay close to Jay," she repeated. "No unnecessary risks. Not even small ones."

I nodded slowly.

Then—

Knock.

All three of us turned toward the door at the same time.

Another knock.

Softer this time.

Krish moved first.

Eces straightened from the bench.

And suddenly the room didn't feel quiet anymore.
