Chapter 36 - Mafia (Part 12)

In the distance, Aefia noticed her uncle running towards Mr. Robert while telling everyone to evacuate the venue. Everyone was panicked and the bride needed help to carry her gown's trail while she ran on heels.

Despite the ongoing chaos, Aefia continued gathering food since she was starving. She had come to the wedding only to eat and was planning on going home with a full stomach. When she was done gathering, she walked towards a table far from the centre to stay away from attention.

She made sure her other family members were gone and sat at the table. She started eating while watching the scene drastically change in front of her. One second, someone was flying from left to right, the other second there were unconscious bodies on the floor.

Amazing movie! And I am experiencing it live! I wonder what the plot is going to be. Let's hope it will have some kind of plot twist in it. Otherwise it won't be fun!

Furnitures broke one after the other and chairs were thrown around. Her uncle and Mr. Robert's bodyguards fought an unknown figure. The figure was out of frame for Aefia and so was Mr. Robert. In the distance, she could see her family searching for her from the outside.

Don't worry family, your child here, is the reason behind this whole chaos. It seems her intelliegence has triggered a bunch of scientist into this venue. Furthermore cousin, I am sorry to tell you this on your wedding day, but your mom is a criminal who wants to try and get rid of me. Who else in this family knows about uncle's Mafia business.

She finished her food and used a knife to cut off her gown until just below her knees. She equipped herself with a fork and walked within the shadow range. Her footsteps, caused by shiny-black shoes, were muffled by the sound of cries and screams.

She ran while squatting towards the stage and turned off the lights by cutting off the wire. She made sure not to cut off the wire which connected to one of the lights, and that was the spotlight which was currently shining at the sofa of the stage.

She got up and stood in front of the spotlight, causing the fight to stop momentarily and divert their attention at Aefia. "We seem to have a few uninvited guest today, why not we bring the other people back in and commerce this wedding because my aunt did spend a huge amount in this venue.

"In case you know, to destroy a belonging of someone is to repay it no matter what kind of repayment you need to do. If you aren't going to pay for the destruction, why not just enjoy this even with us? After which, you may commence your search." Aefia said with an innocent face.

Due to the sudden stop, Aefia spotted the loyal member who was a suspect from her uncle's Mafia business. That's my target. Now if you move, I will make my move too. It's no fun to play chess even when the person isn't going to move one at a time.

"May I ask one of the guards to tell the people to come back inside?" Aefia said finally.

One of Mr. Robert's guards went out and came back with people flowing in. Aefia's aunts and cousins starred at Aefia's confidence. She got down of the stage and Nada came racing in.

"Just what are you going to do?! You are risking our lives! You aren't a member of a powerful group, so they don't fear you!" Nada silently yelled at Aefia.

"But they will soon. If they don't want to accept it, I will force them." Aefia replied with a calm face. Secretly, she had put a microphone on Nada to track what was happening outside. The microphone in return, was connected to an earpiece which Aefia had on. She had heard every small conversation Nada had so far.

Coming from far away, she spotted her uncle coming at her direction. Aefia waved her hand back and forth to tell him that she couldn't attend to the matter right away and rather was figuring out what she would do next.

"What have you done to your dress?!" Her aunt told her when she cornered her out of the crowd. "I had to do it in case I had to run. It was heavy and it was already stained with mud. Don't worry, our tailor would be able to repair it. She is a smart craftswoman." Aefia replied while walking away. She ignored everyone else just like that.

She walked directly to her parents in order to seek a small conversation explaining everything, with her mom. When she saw that her father was there too, she moved around the table and faced her father's opposite.

Making sure she was in a range of her mom's notice, she snapped her finger silently twice. She then moved towards the ladies bathroom's entrance and stood there in the shadow.

"Wait. I will go search the bathroom for her." Her mom excused herself from her father.

When in front of Aefia, she slapped her and pulled her hair. "Just what is wrong with you? Do you really think you can handle such a thing?! Is this what you are learning at your uncle's office?! I will speak with him and make sure you leave that company as soon as possible."

Aefia spoke with a calm expression. "This wedding is about to be sabotaged and you are telling me to do stuff unrelated to it right now." She grabbed her mother's hand and twisted the wrist. "Hear me out, I have a plan. I am sure you can ask uncle to explain the rest for you."

Her mother's hand hurt but she couldn't scream without anyone noticing. "Fine. Say what you want to say and when I get home, you are getting punished!"

"Very well, then let me begin and listen carefully. I won't afford to repeat it twice." Aefia began, "The new political group who appeared two years ago, is planning to sabotage this wedding with the words of our eldest aunt."

"So you are telling me, she told them that your uncle is going to be here so they could sabotage him?" Her mother asked in return.

"You know how all my aunts are greedy, I believe she has an intention to have uncle killed so that she will be the owner of all his wealth. But this case, the policital group is looking for me.

"They have gotten access to certain information about how the company is runned and they intend to eliminate every subordinates of my uncle and corner him out to take him down. Once uncle is gone, there is no one to stop them from stealing from our nation's population.

"To stop them from pursuing their current goal, I intend to silently execute their main source until they are forced to step up in front. Once that happens, Mr. Robert's guards are going to further break down this venue and force the people out. During which, he will be confronted by you guys and he will be forced to tell us that he didn't cause any damage after the first."

"Are you going to be part of this case? Are you trying to hide? What are your real intensions? Do not do anything that will cause a fight between your father and me. Otherwise I will tell your uncle to fire you."

"I don't care about your opinion if almost everyone's lives are on the line. Just play along with the other crowds when the time comes. If you want, explain it to father and don't try lying about it." Aefia said while walking away.

She knew that if she looked back, her mom would obviously tell her to back away from this case, but her mom didn't know or didn't care to know about Aefia's life as a spy. She didn't even know that Aefia was about to get an official license for her weapon from her uncle.

When no one was watching, she sneaked into her hideout, which was the table she first sat down to eat in during the first destruction phase. Once there, she took out the piece of paper and pen which she had stolen while moving through the shadows.

On the paper, she drew a map of the entire venue and marked the doors with arrows. She drew a stickman figure to represent her current position and labelled it as 'here'. Once she had jotted down possible intersections and exits, she started jotting down her plan.

Based on the plans, her route to destruction could be made easier and she could locate the place where the politicians' guards were most possibly expected. For that too, she had to jot down her predictions and possible enemy moves.

The most difficult part was which destruction would seem more valid for a silent sabotage that would be noticed by almost everyone at the venue. That location would also have to be an easy access for the enemy so the framing would look to be more plotted and precisely targeted.

She drew thicker arrows to locate air-vents and air-conditioners. Just when she felt like she was stuck in a loop, she noticed something odd about the rooms. One of them was labelled 'In case of Hijacking', which was an odd name to give a room.

What sort of things do you use during a 'Hijacking'? Crowbars and hammers? I think I want to check it out. But how do I do that with the guards around? Oh right, I was planning on taking them down anyway.

She gripped her fork tightly and ran through the shadows towards the room opposite to her hideout's location. Luckily, there was no one from the political group to try and stop her. Once they saw her fork, they either remained silent or moved away and pretended not to see anything.

How odd, are they really not going to do anything? I need to stay cautious in case they try to scheme me into their trap. I can't leave this matter thinking it would be of no use. I know that they may start following me to find my hiding spot at some point if I don't act normal.

Also, what if my aunt set them up to work against the politician and me while working for her to kill someone she has a huge grudge against? I can count it as a possibility but I can't prove it even when she is in an accusation position, she is a hell of a liar.

On second thought, what if I spoke to one of them? What if I let one of them know about my plans and scheme? It may have a potential to work against me but it can also have a potential to work for me. And killing them one by one would be to prove myself guilty because there is already suspicion on me from the political group and if there is already a dead body, they won't step back from accusing me. In that case, my plan to show them off would fail.

I think I will go for my initial plan. I won't take out the guards but I will accuse him publicly for sabotaging the wedding venue. Then he will be forced to speak about his doings when I speak lies about him.

Alright, enough overthinking, I am already at my location.

She pushed open the door to that room and closed it silently when she got in. The room was half-filled with cylinders of gas and the remaining half had crowbars and hammers as she had expected.

She read the labels on the cylinders. Few of them had tear-gas and laughing-gas, which made no sense to Aefia at first. Then she read 'oxygen cannister', and the other was 'methane cannister'.

Now we are burning down the entire wedding, something my cousin's ex-wives should be doing right now.

None of the things made sense to Aefia and she couldn't deduce how to use any of what she had gathered. Let's just cancel this plan. If this thing could get some people unconscious, it may have been of use.

Wait, what if I framed one of the political party's guards by making it seem as if they were planning on burning the entire venue down? For that, I need a fog machine or something to grab their attention.

Wait, doesn't the singing and dancing start in a few minutes? I think it is safe to do so when they are busy listening to the 'singer' of the day.

She collected a few cans and ran out the door. While walking through the shadows, she placed one can behind the loosely tied belt of their overcoats and made sure it fell once they started moving.

After that, she walked to her family table and sat there, listening to her father's scouldings which were mostly, "Wait until we get home."

She clapped to the speech and slideshow while waiting patiently for the dancing and singing.

The stage was cleared and a band came up. They had all sorts of instruments. The servants came to clear the space in front of the stage to allow for the visitors to join the dance floor if they wished.

Unable to resist the music, one of the guards started stomping his feet, followed by another and another. At one time, the guard who had the loose belt moved and the gas cannister fell, silencing everyone at the venue.

One of the guest screamed, it was Mr. Robert. "Guards! Capture them! They are planning on burning this venue down!" The guards ran, but was caught by Mr. Robert's guards.

Seeing this, the politician stepped out. "Guys! Stop! They are innocent! They didn't do anything! It is that child spy! She is trying to frame them!"

Sometimes you don't need cats to chase mice out of their nest. When the flood comes, they run out anyway.
