Chapter 105 - What if - Chapter 1

What If Luca Fought Back Successfully?

The Night of the Claiming - Altered

Rian's teeth sink into my throat.

But this time, I don't freeze. I fight.

My grandmother's magic—dormant until now—explodes. Silver light blasts Rian backward.

He hits a tree hard. Stunned.

I run. And the magic creates a barrier behind me. Protecting me.

"LUCA!" Rian roars, recovering. "Come back!"

But I'm gone. Disappeared into the forest.

My magic—fully awakened by his attack—hides my scent, my trail, everything.

One Week Later - Rian's POV

I can't find him.

The human I tried to claim. My fated mate. Gone.

The partial bond aches. Incomplete. Desperate.

"He's hidden himself magically," the pack witch confirms. "Your bond isn't strong enough to track him."

"How do I find him?"

"You don't. He finds you. When he's ready."

If he's ever ready.

Six Months Later - Luca's POV

I've trained. Grown stronger. My magic is powerful now.

And I'm hunting the Alpha who tried to claim me.

Not to kill. To confront.

I find him in his territory. He looks terrible—gaunt, exhausted, desperate.

"Luca," he breathes when he sees me.

"We need to talk," I say coldly. "You tried to claim me. Against my will."

"I know. I'm sorry—"

"Sorry isn't enough." I step closer, magic crackling around me. "You took my choice. So here's what's going to happen."

"What?"

"You're going to court me. Properly. Earn my trust. Prove you're worth the bond you tried to force."

"And if I can't?"

"Then I break the partial bond. Leave. You never see me again."

His devastation is clear. But he nods. "Okay. How long do I have?"

"One year. Prove yourself in one year."

One Year Later - The Choice

Rian has been perfect. Patient, respectful, genuine.

He's shown me his world. His pain. His heart.

"It's been a year," I say. "I promised an answer."

He stands before me, vulnerable. Terrified.

"I choose you," I say.

His relief is overwhelming. "Really?"

"Really. Because this time, it's my choice. Freely given. Earned." I step closer. "Claim me. Properly."

He does. But this time, I say yes first.

And the bond forms perfectly. Willing. Equal. Right.

Ten Years Later

"Tell me again," our son asks. "How you met."

"Well," I begin. "Your dad tried to claim me. I fought back. Escaped. Made him earn me."

"And he did," Rian adds, pulling me close. "Best year of my life. Proving I was worth you."

"You tell it like it's romantic," Kai observes.

"It is," I say. "I took my power back. Made the choice mine. That's romantic."

In this scenario, Luca fought back successfully.

And made Rian earn him properly.

Proving power dynamics can be equalized.
