Clara held her breath, and her hands trembled as she picked the photo album and opened the first page. There he was, a tiny, chubby baby with wide eyes and a mop of dark hair, cradled in Robert's arms. In the next picture, Ethan was holding him, smiling in a way Clara had never seen; raw, young, and completely unguarded.
She turned another page, pictures of Axiel learning to sit up and to crawl, then one of Margaret holding him at what looked like a park, her face glowing with pride. There was another one of Robert pushing a stroller, then Ethan again, laughing as baby Axiel, her Cade, reached for his tie.
Tears blurred her vision as she flipped through each milestones, his first birthday cake, his first steps in the garden, and his first day of school wearing a tiny backpack, almost bigger than him.
They were all there. All the moments she missed.
