When I returned to my homeland, a strange sense of belonging washed over me.
I had arrived at Imkansia village.
Normally, as the head of the Inquisition, I rarely took part in missions personally.
But this time, it was the Cardinal's direct order.
Even I didn't understand why.
Still, the moment I entered the village… something felt off.
Everyone looked out for one another.
There wasn't a single homeless person.
Though the Sylvarion Empire took taxes, they weren't as crushing as in other regions.
Here it was thirty percent.
In the Valentine Empire, it was fifty.
When I asked where the village chief lived, everyone pointed me in the same direction.
I walked slowly toward the house.
On the way, a girl suddenly crashed into me.
I didn't move an inch, but she fell flat on her backside.
Everyone turned to stare.
Damn it!
This is going to draw way too much attention and make the mission harder.
"Sorry, mister!" the girl said.
