Chapter 77 - Chapter 78: Do You Think I’m Running a Charity?

"Don't be afraid."

"You should be able to tell that I mean you no harm."

Looking at the still reserved Skye, Michael smiled slightly and said nothing more.

"All the information you saw before is true, including your parents' information. It's all true."

"I know how much of an impact this information has had on you, Skye."

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will answer everything I know and hold nothing back. Of course, it's limited to matters related to you," Michael said with a smile, taking a sip of tea and looking at Skye.

Skye took a deep breath, trying her best to calm her excited emotions.

"I… I want to know why you're telling me all of this…" Skye asked nervously.

Skye really wanted to know why Michael chose her. Was it because she was an Inhumans, or because of the Inhumans behind her?

Before this, Skye's biggest desire was to find out why her birth parents abandoned her. For so many years, her life had been one of constant wandering and hardship; it was unbearable. If Skye wasn't a U.S. citizen, and if there weren't laws protecting children and teenagers, with her experiences, she would have died in a foreign land long ago!

But! After seeing the information Michael specifically projected earlier, Skye discovered that the truth wasn wasn't that her parents didn't want her, but that they were 'murdered' by a shadowy organization. And the purpose of this shadowy organization was to train her to become their super enforcer.

It was simply because she carried the Inhumans gene and 'might' activate powerful superpowers! 'I have superpowers, I'm so sorry!' Having forgiven her birth parents, Skye began to worry about her own people, fearing that Michael was also after her and the people behind her!

It's not surprising that Skye developed a sense of belonging to the Inhumans so quickly; it was simply that years of wandering and various dark experiences had pushed her towards them.

This opportunity originally belonged to Phil Coulson.

Unfortunately, who could have known that this World would have an additional Michael?…

"Why am I telling you the truth? Of course, it's to gain your favor," Michael said with a matter-of-fact expression, which made Skye's heart clench.

'Sure enough, did he guess it? His goal and the people behind him?' Skye suddenly felt a little sad. 'Why are there no truly good people in this World?'

"Haha, little girl, you practically wrote the answer in your heart directly." Michael chuckled.

"Although bringing you here has my own purpose, I won't be as 'emotionless' as S.H.I.E.L.D."

"Let me tell you clearly, I brought you here to help me manage this Group under my feet. Yes, it's… just as you think. What kind of expression is that? Do you really think I'm a fool? If I didn't know you were capable, do you think I would entrust a Group worth hundreds of billions, even trillions of U.S. dollars, to you?"

"Alright, you don't need to guess how I know you're capable. Even if you think I'm prescient, that's fine. Anyway… you just need to know that after you study, you'll be able to take this position. As for the rest, it's all fleeting, no need to care."

"As for your people, the Inhumans… look at that name. Good heavens, they don't even consider themselves human. That's really interesting."

"Let me put it this way, I am indeed quite fond of your Inhumans' abilities. Do you know what I'm having them do? Don't worry, it's not for dissection and research. Your Inhumans' abilities are not even worth my attention, alright!" Michael began to boast, even forgetting who was so obsessed with the Blind Man's abilities before.

"The reason I sought you out is because your mother is the current leader of a branch of the Inhumans on Earth. Hey, don't get excited, don't get excited, sit down and listen carefully. Yes, your mother is still alive! Don't you think about it, are people with superpowers so easy to kill? Furthermore, the Ancient Eastern Country is S.H.I.E.L.D.'s territory. For those old schemers from S.H.I.E.L.D. to dare to act in the Ancient Eastern Country's territory back then was already very risky. After they acted, they didn't even dare to check if they had… truly killed everyone completely; they just grabbed you and ran!"

"Oh, what kind of organization is S.H.I.E.L.D.? Oh, that's not related to you, so I won't talk about it. If you really want to know, then help me manage this Group under my feet, and when the time comes, if you still want to know, consider it your year-end bonus."

"Hmm, it seems I've gone off-topic. Let me put it this way, I'm interested in you to have you work for me, to be the… CEO of the Group. As for the people behind you, if you can win them over, you can have them become the security force of the Group!"

"It's that simple, understand?!" Michael put down his teacup, crossed his legs, and looked at Skye, who had just undergone several changes in expression.

"You said my mom is still alive?" "Is it true?" Skye extracted a key point, 'mom,' from the barrage of words, and she was incredibly excited.

Looking at Skye's appearance, Michael even wondered if the girl had heard what he just said.

"Yes! She's alive, so what?" Michael raised an eyebrow, unconcerned. This girl wouldn't think he would send her over, would she? Ha, naive! With Jiaying's hatred for humans, sending Skye over would be like throwing meat buns to a dog—it would be a one-way trip! He would have to train Skye, ahem, no, brainwash, uh, that's not right either. Anyway, he needed Skye to feel a sense of belonging to him! Yes, that's right! That's the idea. How could he let this little girl leave before she had a sense of belonging to him!

"Can I see my mom?" Skye didn't notice Michael's change in expression and still asked excitedly.

"No!"

"Why?" Skye was stunned. 'You told me so much, and now you won't let me see her?'

"Do you think I'm running a charity?" Michael suddenly gave a wicked smile.
