"If you don't mind, could you please touch that whisper-globe."
She pointed towards the table where I could see what looked like a large spherical jade orb.
I hesitated for a moment.
The whisper-globe was how the students and everyone else were able to know information about themselves as not everyone had access to the UI screen that appeared to show mine, thanks to my attribute.
Although it wasn't mandatory to let the academy know everything about your abilities, some basic information still needed to be submitted.
The good thing about this particular whisper-globe was that it was set to show only basic information like name, Bond, and element. But, the reason I was feeling nervous was that it also displayed Levels. Everyone had known I was a Grade One when I was Bondless, but now that my Bond had suddenly appeared, that certainty had faded, and they wouldn't be so sure about my grade. However, the moment I touched the whisper-globe, I would be confirming that low-level fact for the entire academy.
I sighed inwardly. 'Since it doesn't show class, it should be fine.'
Unlike Skills, which were always exclusive, and Class Attributes, which could be either exclusive or general, Classes themselves were universally general.
This meant I was probably the only one with an Exclusive Class in this world, and my transmigration probably had everything to do with why I possessed it. And so, at least right now, I didn't want anyone to know about my real Class.
But that was not the only reason i wanted to hide my class…
Through knowing your class, one could easily determine how you fight. In a way, it could be said to give an idea of your combat nature. And so, if no one knew my real class, my opponents would be left wondering and forced to guess my true nature.
Though most cadets if not all, revealed their classes later on to the academy, I did not plan to, and since the whisper-globe was set to not show important information like class, skills, bonded abilities and attributes, It was okay for me to touch it.
After a few more seconds of hesitation, I reached out and tapped the Jade orb, deciding not to mind if my Level got exposed. As long as I had the benefits of being a proper cadet, which to me was a room with a bed and a shower, I was fine!
…However, just as I tapped the jade orb, a series of notifications only visible to me popped up.
[Activating Gamer Privileges…]
'Eh?'
[The use of a whisper-globe on the Gamer has been detected.]
[The exclusive attribute Gamer Privileges has activated a Non-diegetic barrier.]
[Due to the effect of the Non-diegetic barrier, the effect of the whisper-globe has been cancelled.]
'What? Why? Wait… does that mean I'm the only one that can view my profile?'
Though I couldn't help but feel happy, I began to panic as this could lead to questions that I wouldn't want to answer.
The Dean arched a brow. "Strange… what's wrong with it?"
I took off my hand then replied nervously. "Uh… I don't know."
[Due to the bonded ability: Truth or Dare, the character Veronica Wilson has figured out that you are lying.]
'Crap!'
At that moment, the Dean asked. "Eh? You do know why though. Mind telling me?"
'No I don't to want to tell you!'
And so, I opened my mouth to say no. But instead, words that I did not intend came out of my mouth.
"It's because of my exclusive attribute."
'What? Why?! Gamer Privileges, why did I say that?!'
[Due to power of the bonded ability: Truth or Dare. The character Veronica Wilson had dared you to say the truth.]
'Shit!'
Just then, Veronica leaned forward and arched a brow. "Oh? That's an amazing attribute you've got there. Do you mind telling me what cl—"
'Aika!'~
Before she could finish, wisps of black smoke suddenly burst out of the sleeves on my right hand, then black feathers encircled in the air, before Aika took form. Then she immediately spoke in a stern voice.
"Can he please keep the details about his abilities to himself? The rules of the academy says that is not mandatory to reveal all information, only the basics, right?"
The room was quiet for a moment. Then Veronica leaned back and chuckled politely.
"Ha… you are right. Fine. I won't ask anymore." She open her desk drawer and pulled out a document, then said. "Write down the basics of what you'd like to reveal. In the meantime, someone will take you to the new dorm assigned to you. Give the document to that person after filling it out."
Hearing that, the tension in my nerves finally eased. I smiled and quickly reached out, grabbing the piece of paper. "Thank you."
"That's enough for now. You may go."
I gave a polite curt nod, then Aika and I turned in unison and began walking toward the exit.
But just as we were nearly at the door, the little girl on the table looked straight at Aika, slowly took her lollipop out of her mouth, and pointed the stick at her. "I don't like you."
We both froze and turned to face the girl.
Turns out, she was probably upset at how Aika manifested to stop the Dean from figuring out my information.
The Dean chuckled, then gently chided her. "Now, now, Chomi, that's rude, you know?" She looked to us and smiled apologetically. "Please don't mind her. Little Chomi has a tendency to be very straightforward with her feelings."
Oh.
I put on a nervous smile, but just as I was about to assure the Dean that it was fine, Aika glared down at the girl on the table and snarled arrogantly, "I don't give a damn about what you like!"
The office fell into stunned silence again.
'Jeez! Oh, God, no!'
I freaked out internally.
'Easy, Aika, easy, you idi…!'
I instantly spun toward the stunned Dean and bowed deeply, my voice rushing to apologize: "My deepest apologies, Dean. My Bond has a tendency to be extremely… straightforward with her feelings as well."
Then, before anyone could speak, I immediately grabbed Aika by the arm, clamping down hard, and swiftly dragged her out of the office.
