Maya's POV
"Hope is having seizures," the doctor says.
The words hit me like bullets. "Seizures? She's only three days old!"
"The poison is attacking her nervous system," the doctor explains. "We're giving her medication to stop the seizures, but Maya, you need to understand the damage might be permanent."
"No." I shake my head. "No, fix her. You have to fix her!"
"We're doing everything we can," the doctor says gently. "But the cocktail Patricia injected was designed to kill. Multiple toxins working together. We've never seen anything like it."
"What was in it?" Ethan demands.
"Arsenic, yes. But also cyanide compounds, heavy metals, and something we're still trying to identify." The doctor pulls out her tablet. "Whatever that unknown substance is, it's causing the most damage."
"Can you create an antidote?" Catherine asks.
