Maya's POV
"You hung up on him?" Ethan stares at me. "Maya, that could have been important."
"It was Richard." I pace the bedroom. My hands won't stop shaking. "My father. The man who stole from me. Who abandoned me. He wants to buy my company."
"Are you sure it was really him?"
"His voice. I'd know it anywhere." Anger burns in my chest. "He said he's been watching us. Watching Hope. How long has he been spying on our family?"
Ethan picks up my phone from where I threw it. The screen is cracked. "We need to tell the police. If he's stalking you"
"He said he wants to help protect us from Marcus." I laugh bitterly. "As if Richard ever protected anyone but himself."
"Then why offer five hundred million dollars?"
"I don't know. But I'm not taking his money. I'm not letting him back into our lives."
