Chapter 14 - Binding part 1

"Ghosts I really don't want to talk about my brother with you. I just want to heal my afflictions and carve a new weapon."

Ghost squints at my gore covered face as if trying to remember something." Fine make another stupid sword, I'm gonna explore the next floor."

"Is there not another electric creature down there?"

"No just one really fat guy."

A disturbing thought catches my attention. "You mean there's a really big mutated human walking around the floor below us?"

"What? No. He was never able to walk. Instead he's spreading like some sorta mold."

I need to rethink my choice of weapon if the next monster is similar to the once cat. Even bisecting the cat like I did wouldn't have worked if it's regeneration wasn't exhausted from fighting most of everything on this floor.

Turning to the matriarchs horn and the marble… or is it a core? I pulled from its corpse, could I reactive its electric powers?

Possed by the idea I began carving ignoreing Ghost as she walks way.

While carving the physical shape of what I want I also try touching upon any lingering spirit material within the large horn. What I find is, a very stubborn bug. As if the matriarchs Will has persisted and remained largely intact with the horn! "Now how do I tap into your ability?"

Useing the spirit-mist that bleeds out of my gates I begin poking at the reminats of the matriarch. It bites and lashes out but is largely to damaged to hurt me. That is until I feed some Force to the reminat then something happens.

TIZZZ

"Ow!" I drop the horn as I'm suddenly lightly tazed. Frowning I try again without physically touching the object. Finding that the remiinant Will instinctively produces energy when given Force. Except if I feed Force into the horn itself via physical touch nothing happens? Which I find very disappointing since expelling Force physically was much harder but still more intuitive than using my Spirit as a medium. Is that what Affinity's do?" Make anything with there namesake easier?

Focusing on carving for a bit I find myself drifting away from carving the horn into a blade. I don't know the first thing about actually using one, and I can't keep ripping what I'm pretty sure is my core apart inorder to use my ability through one. Instead I find my hand drifting tword a more simple club, ware the narow horns point is evened out into a handle.

By the time I've finished the general shape my spirit-body feels noticeably better having been feed most the Force I've regenerated over the past…[False Identifie(2:23:59:52). Day it's been a day.

I've also gathered as many normal beetle horns as possible and run a few experiments on the reminats spirit mass inside them. With enough effort I can extract it, but being outside a…vessel? Cause the material to rapidly dissolve. I can shove more material into one vessel than it should have, but the extra will ether be eaten by the original, or ejected. And finally if there's enough extra spirit material in one vessel I can use it like glue to add more material to the vessel by feeding the reminant spirit enough Force to Bind the materials together. When over fend Force the spirit reminants seem to mutate temporarily, and blead into the physical as a thin wispy mist that I can guide. After I bound two horns together in this way the ambient Force in the environment seems to be enough to hold them together.

How does this apply to my burgeoning Club. Simply put it would theoretically let me embed multiple electric prongs that can be left in a creature for further electrocution. Hopefully putting them through a sample of what the matriarch gave me!

With a bit more effort the main heft of the shaft is finished. It's roughly 1 and a half feet long, 6 inches thick at its widest and I managed to carve a few divits irregularly along the shaft to install the smaller horns. I've also cut out a narrow hole in the horns center inorder to feed it the two monster Cores I have. Hopefully if the horns reminant spirit grows stronger, than it will produce stronger lightning. Additionally the little horns will hopefully pull said lightning away from me. But to be safe I test what little materials I have against the clubs current energy output. Eventually discovering that some of the cats scorched ribb bones near ware the matriarch had impaled it are especially resistant to electricity.

Ignoring the implications of the once cat also being able to rapidly adapt, I start harvesting as much remint spirit as I can form the other bones to condense into the ribs.

Once done I start the Binding. Introducing the smaller horns to the club is a practice of practice. Cutting down each base til it just barely fits into the indetons I made and then guiding and feeding the over flowing sprit mass until it binds properly with the club.

After binding 13 of the horns I get a new surprise of the clubs starts rejecting and draining any added horns!

Confused I begin poking around I find the matriarch has reformed the reminant spirit from the horns I've already into little beetles that emulate what they once were? These little beetles visusly attack any perceived intuitions into ther territory.

A litt upset at being unable to add all the horns i instead continue feeding the weapon. After all a stong spirit should be good right?

Once I'm officially out of horns I start binding the ribs to the handle after carving them into thin bars. Nothing seems to change so I prepare a cork from the bone and quickly press both cores into the prepared whole in the clubs head and cork it. Nothing happens.

Poking around again I find I need to unravel the tied up spirit remnants within each core. And so with a lot of mental effort I cut the bindings I made free.
