(Silvie's POV)
I was moving fast, Ivan a shadow at my six. We were closing in on Felicity's location. I could sense her Divine Light flaring in panic and the massive, stable sun of Prince Leonidas approaching from the north.
Valentine was gone. My sensor showed his mana signature had stopped abruptly a mile back.
Silas, I realized with a curse. He anticipated the intercept.
"We have to hurry," I hissed to Ivan. "Valentine is down. If we don't get there, Leonidas will..."
CRACK. RUMBLE.
The forest floor exploded.
It wasn't one monster. It was a legion.
Dozens of [Corrupted Root Golems (Level 28)] burst from the earth, forming a living wall of wood and thorns between us and Felicity. Behind them, Dire Wasps dropped from the canopy, a buzzing cloud of poison.
"Why are there so many?!" I shouted, drawing my rapier. This wasn't a random encounter. This was a blockade.
