Clutching his sword with all his strength, Arthur let out a fierce howl and lunged at the fire lizard!
Using his dexterity stats, Arthur's jump was by no means small, and in the next instant he found himself in midair.
With his sword raised up high, its tip pointing toward the fire lizard, he landed onto the creature.
The fire lizard sensed the danger of the tiny human before it, and without hesitation it swung its tail forward.
A sharp whistling sound echoed into the air as the fire lizard's tail swept toward Arthur in a wide arc.
With no way to stop his approaching attack midair, Arthur changed the direction of his sword from offense to defense and immediately countered the sweeping tail.
Bang!
Both of them collided in a violent clash, and Arthur was sent flying toward the molten liquid pooling behind him.
'Unholy shit!' Arthur cursed internally, understanding that if he didn't do anything he would definitely die inside the molten liquid.
Coming up with a solution that had a slim chance of working, he hastily stretched his hand forward.
'Fireball!'
With a loud shout in his heart, Arthur released the fireball and sent it crashing into the ground.
Boom!
The magma exploded outward with a splash, and to Arthur's relief, his plan had worked.
Due to the fireball splashing the magma outward, it created a safe spot for him to land. However, the plan was only a short-term one.
And besides, the fire lizard was already snaking its way through the molten liquid, heading in Arthur's direction.
Arthur realized that despite the heat of the magma, the fire lizard seemed unfazed and wasn't in the least bit affected by the attack.
His brows shot up curiously.
'As expected of a boss monster.'
Arthur braced himself for impact, already feeling the scorching sensation of the molten liquid pooling in the safe space he'd just created.
Within a few seconds the fire lizard had reached Arthur's location, and this time, rather than using its tail, its two front claws reached toward Arthur in a slashing motion.
Arthur felt as though he would be slashed into pieces by the claw attack.
Calming his heart, he softly lunged at the fire lizard.
In his left hand, a fireball emerged and swiftly crashed onto the head of the fire lizard, confusing it for a bit and stalling its claws' movements.
Taking advantage of the distraction, Arthur landed on the fire lizard, his blade plunging downward.
Clang!
The sound of steel clashing against steel resounded the moment Arthur's sword collided with the tough, scaly back of the boss fire lizard.
'Damn. It's that tough?' Arthur was pleasantly surprised, not expecting the scales to be so resilient.
He frowned and struck again before the fire lizard could recover.
Clang!
The same scene played out once more, and it caused Arthur's expression to become unsightly.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The fire lizard crashed violently into the magma, tossing and turning around in an attempt to get Arthur off its back.
Knowing that the magma wouldn't be able to penetrate its skin, the fire lizard was unafraid of anything.
Arthur couldn't withstand the unstable environment and had to jump away, swiftly landing atop a rock that managed to stay afloat in the molten liquid.
The fire lizard, feeling that Arthur was no longer there, scowled and glared daggers at its surroundings before settling on him again.
Both figures stared at each other for a short while.
'Its eyes… I have to target its eyes!' Arthur realized, noting the weakness of the creature the moment their gaze met.
Since all of its body was covered with tough scales aside from its eyes, Arthur knew that only by targeting them would he have a slim chance of victory.
He stretched his hand, sensing the fire lizard approaching, and a fireball appeared on his palm.
Hurling it forward, Arthur also leapt off the rock, diving headfirst toward the fire lizard.
It seemed as if he was purposefully planning to jump onto its back once again, but Arthur knew he had a plan in mind.
Bang!
The fireball crashed into the fire lizard's head just as before.
Due to its short claws and tail, the fire lizard was unable to stop Arthur from targeting this place with his fireball attack.
[Warning! Mana is running low!]
The system's red warning message appeared briefly in Arthur's line of sight, causing his expression to take a 180-degree turn.
'This is my only chance! After this I'll have to summon Titan, otherwise I'll just be a sitting duck left to die…'
With that thought in mind, Arthur's face hardened, and his grip on his sword as he dove in the direction of the fire lizard grew even tighter.
Swish!
Arthur's movements were like a streak of light, and in the next moment, his sword plunged headfirst into the eye of the fire lizard with a sickening squelch.
Hissss!!!
The fire lizard hissed in pain and began struggling violently, trying to force Arthur to release his grip on the sword.
However, Arthur just snorted in disdain and tightened his grip, driving the blade even deeper until its full length had entered the creature's eye.
Then Arthur twisted the sword violently, letting another round of squelching sounds mixed with the pained hiss of the fire lizard enter his ears.
With a relieved smile, Arthur sensed the lifeforce of the fire lizard dwindling rapidly.
However, it was still struggling to hang on.
"Why the fuck are you so stubborn? Just die already, you cockroach!" Arthur cursed aloud, and releasing his left-hand grip on the sword, he pointed his hand at the fire lizard's mouth.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
In quick succession, he sent three fireballs into the mouth of the fire lizard.
This final attack consumed all of Arthur's mana reserves, but thankfully, it was enough, the fire lizard finally succumbed to death.
Its mouth had turned into meat paste, and one of its eyes was destroyed, while the second one was filled with anger, grievance, and defiance.
"So stubborn!" Standing atop the fire lizard as it finally collapsed to the ground, Arthur stomped its head shamelessly.
[Killed a boss fire lizard singlehandedly. Loot dropped.]
[Congratulations on clearing an E-rank dungeon. Loots and dungeon core are in the system space. Please explore them.]
Glancing at the system's words, Arthur was excited.
"Wooohooo. Now we're talking!"
