AAARRRRRGGGHHH!"
A scream echoed through the air as a figure shot through the trees in a flash. The figure hit a tree and came to a halt. It was Feng Wuji, and he was critically injured!
Su Mei had stepped on the little serpent and awakened its mother. The mother serpent, upon awakening and seeing that they hurt it's child and trespassed into it's had attacked them immediately. It used its massive tail to send a huge tree hurling at them, and Feng Wuji, who was at the front, had borne the full weight of the attack. He was flung backwards. Su Mei wanted to go after him, but the serpent sent a spray of venom towards her and that disrupted bee plan. She quickly flew into the air, her usually graceful posture now desperate and frantic.
She muttered a spell and waved her hands to form some seals in the air.
"Flames of Nirvanic Rebirth!" she screamed.
From the seal she made, a flame started. It grew into the symbol of a large bird, and the bird swooped down, charging at the incoming venom. It spewed out flames that burned the venom off and still continued its charge at the serpent.
The serpent, whose eyes were full of fury, hissed. "SSSSSSS!" A sharp sound echoed in the air.
Su Mei felt it. It felt like her head was about to explode, and she momentarily lost control of the flame bird. The serpent quickly seized this opportunity and shot to meet the bird. It became a blur. When it met the birdwhich was still charging as if it had its own will it didn't back down. Its eyes suddenly became a light shade of blue, changing from their usual green. The atmosphere became chilly and cold at that moment. Just as the flame bird reached it, the snake spewed an icy blast from its mouth.
The flame bird, not prepared for the sudden attack, was easily destroyed by the serpent's icy breath. It turned into a statue, fell to the ground, and then it shattered.
The serpent didn't waste any time and shot towards Su Mei, who had just recovered. Her face was extremely pale, and she was trying to stabilize herself in the air; it seemed the mental attack from the serpent had really taken its toll.
The serpent released some Qi from its pores , it used the qi to gather all the ice that was scattered on the ground where the flame bird had been destroyed. It manipulated the shards of ice with its Qi and turned them into sharp spears. It must have seen a human use this technique before.
Su Mei, who had just stabilized herself, couldn't defend against the incoming sea of icy spears. She quickly shot backwards and her eyes widened with feat snsing the lethality of the attack she bit her lips and used the blood from the injury to perform a technique.
"Nirvanic rebirth of the spirit is the only true path to life Come, ohh Sacred Rose Purification Flame Spirit of the yin yang dao!"she muttered and then..
Suddenly, from her central meridian in her forehead, a wisp of flame emerged. It was gold and looked majestic, as if testifying to its sacred nature.
With her foundational spirit summoned, she quickly alleviated her situation. Like before, she summoned a shield of flames and used it to destroy the incoming ice. However, the serpent was just too strong.
It clearly had a cultivation base that was much higher than hers, and its ice started overpowering her flames. She tried and gave her all, but it just wasn't enough. Eventually, she ran out of energy, lost her balance, and fell towards the ground while a barrage of ice was charging towards her.
She thought she was done for. Her physical body wouldn't be able to endure falling from such a height, and if she miraculously survived, the icy spears would immediately claim her life. Just as she gave up and closed her eyes, teardrops dripping from them and glistening in the air, she heard a loud hiss.
She opened her eyes to find out what had happened. The first thing she noticed was that on the bare ground, a canopy of flowers had risen up to catch her. She steadied herself and landed on it. She looked up, confused. What was happening?? She heard some noise, and then she saw it.
Feng Wuji was in the air, having a battle with the Verdant Jade Serpent. He had slashed one of the eyes of the serpent when it was engrossed on killing her.
The serpent's eyes and body were trembling with rage. It was now truly angry. Its Qi came out in a full burst and turned into more icy spears. This time, the spears were heavier, over five feet tall, with sharp edges that glowed.
Feng Wuji stood in the air calmly and locked gaze with the serpent. The serpent made the spears attack Feng Wuji, and Feng Wuji still stood calmly, his robes and hair fluttering like silk in the air.
When the first wave of spears arrived, he flicked his two middle fingers and pointed at the air, making a shield of Qi. However, the shield didn't last long and got destroyed immediately. Feng Wuji was not perturbed. He summoned his sword and then charged into the incoming sea of attacks.
He was as light as drifting snow and swift as lightning. He danced through the storm, slashing at the spears, hitting them at a perfect angle and splitting them all into two equal parts.
The spears he couldn't strike forced their way into his afterimages instead of flesh. He flew with speed like a blur through the icy spears, his movement techniques making it seem like he was dancing, not fighting.
He reached the snake and sent a wave of sword Qi at it, but it just bounced off its scales. The serpent just stayed in that position without care, its eyes flashing with disdain.
It watched as Feng Wuji charged at it, and just as Feng Wuji flew higher, trying to strike its jaw, it used its tail which was coated with ice to strike his exposed chest.
Feng Wuji flew backwards, spewing blood. He hit a tree, which collapsed immediately from the pressure of his fall. His face was palid and his eyes were dull and he seemed lost. How could he defeat this monster???
Then he heard a voice.
"Snap back, bastard!"
He looked at the source of the sound, and it was Su Mei. She screamed, "Feng Wuji, we can't defeat it! Just distract it for a while! I'll create the sun annihilation array to take care of it! I just need some time!"
When feng wuji heard this,he gritted his teeth, and nodded. Then he flew back at the serpent with renewed determination and vigor flashing in his eyes.
