Chapter 16 - The Moira nature spirit

The Moira Fairy led them through the labyrinth, taking various turns and corners. It flew a few feet in front of them, whispering words that only Su Mei could hear since she was bound to it.

The labyrinth seemed to stretch on and on, appearing endless as each tunnel led to more tunnels, making it seem like an unending web forever trapped in darkness. The atmosphere was dark and had started to weigh on Feng Wuji and Su Mei.

"When are we going to arrive?" Feng Wuji grunted.

"We should arrive soon," Su Mei responded, her eyes glued to the fairy.

"Well, I hope so. If we don't come across their land in some time, I'll kill the fairies to cure my eyes," Feng Wuji said with a dangerous glow in his eyes.

Su Mei's eyes flashed, but she didn't say anything and just kept on moving.

They walked and walked, and Feng Wuji constantly nagged, but they finally found it. The tunnel they were in didn't lead to more tunnels; it led to a small utopia.

On the floor, there were some trees of various shades. They looked like maize trees; they weren't that tall, the tallest of them was about five feet, but strangely, they all had a huge flower bud on their head. The flower buds seemed to contain some orange energy and attracted the attention of Feng Wuji; his gaze became fixed on them.

Finally, they exited the tunnel and entered the utopia. The breeze blew across their face, and it contained the sweet scent of morning dew and nature.

"Finally, I'm home," the Moira Fairy bound to Su Mei suddenly said.

Feng Wuji looked at it with raised eyebrows. "You can talk?"

"Of course I can talk, you jerk. Humph!" the fairy responded.

"How? And why didn't you just say anything when we first met?" Su Mei butted in.

"Why should I tell you? You're a bad guy, and I don't like bad guys," the fairy said as it crossed its arms.

"You know what, I'll just use your core. I don't have time for this," Feng Wuji snarled.

"Hahaha, bad guy, you can't harm me in the Moonlit Charm Domain!" the fairy laughed, looking smug.

"Moonlit Charm Domain? Wait, I've heard of this," Su Mei said.

"I've also heard of it," Feng Wuji commented, his face slowly building up with rage from the fairy's smug attitude.

"It's the domain of that fearsome overlord of the Verdant Crystal Realm," Feng Wuji said, a little bit of awe, fear, and excitement flashing across his eyes.

"Wait, if that's true, then your matriarch, the Moira Nature Spirit, is the powerhouse?" Su Mei asked.

"Hmmm hmmm, she is," the fairy said. "And she's been watching you since you entered her domain."

"What!!?" Su Mei exclaimed as sweat began to form on her and Feng Wuji's backs. They had not sensed the gaze of the Moira Nature Spirit, and the fear of what such a being could do to them bothered them.

Su Mei quickly let out the other Moira Fairies from her jar.

"You slut! You dare to hold I, the great Mu Lin, hostage?!!! I'll make sure Mother Spirit gives me your head!" a Moira Fairy with the appearance of a male man cursed out loud.

"Oh, shut up, Mu Yuan, you urchin," the fairy with Feng Wuji and Su Mei said. "You're the one who made us go out and get captured in the first place!"

"Mu Xiaolu, stay out of this! We almost died cause of these punks!" Mu Yuan said.

"Shut up and get going!" Mu Xiaolu's eyes flashed as she yelled at him.

Mu Yuan gritted his teeth and was about to burst out, but he just clenched his fist and flew away with the other fairies following him.

"Now, where was I? Ohh yes, we were talking about my mom," Mu Xiaolu said. "Well, she's waiting. Let's go meet her."

Mu Xiaolu led Feng Wuji and Su Mei into the forest filled with maize-like trees that exuded a sweet, nature-filled aroma.

"These trees are very, very precious to us. Don't touch or harm any of them in any scenario if you don't want to attract the ire of the Matriarch," Mu Xiaolu warned.

They flew for a while before they arrived at the base of a giant tree. It was tall, very, very tall, and it stretched on until it pierced the clouds. The trunk was a healthy shade of green but had some odd leaves with various colors on its branches. On the green trunk were doors of different sizes and shapes, adorned with crystals, precious jewels, or just some wooden designs.

Around the tree, various Moira Fairies flew by, and they had various sizes, which actually stunned Feng Wuji and Su Mei. Some fairies were like Mu Xiaolu, barely the size of bugs, and others were the size of human babies, some the size of human children, and others had the size of teenagers or human adults. But they all had some things in common: their light blue hair, blue eyes, and slender physique.

"You guys can grow so big??" Su Mei asked, her voice full of surprise.

"Of course! You didn't expect that we'd stay in this appearance forever, did you?" Mu Xiaolu turned back to face them.

Su Mei answered, "Well, uhm...."

"We did," Feng Wuji butted in, an indifferent expression on his face.

"How do you grow so big? I mean, from your size till human size is basically growing into a giant," Feng Wuji asked.

"Well, it's really not that weird. We evolve into a different size after each cultivation breakthrough."

"That's weird, though. Very weird," Su Mei said.

"So, you guys were born like this?" Mu Xiaolu asked.

"Nope, we grow with age," Feng Wuji said.

"What's your age?" Mu Xiaolu asked directly. Su Mei didn't respond, but Feng Wuji just said, "Fifteen."

"Hmmm, since you're this big when you're fifteen, doesn't that mean you'll be about nine meters when you reach your prime? Wow!"

Feng Wuji and Su Mei looked at each other, feeling stunned. "Uhm, no, it doesn't work that way."

"How does it work??" Mu Xiaolu asked, her eyes twinkling.

Su Mei looked helpless. She sighed and then said, "Well, we gr..."

"The Matriarch requests your presence now." A voice came from the distance as the owner approached.

It was a young fairy. He was about 5'11", wearing a silver robe and holding a branch of a tree in his hands. The young man wore a neutral expression on his face, which wasn't that attractive; it was just normal at best.

Mu Xiaolu's expression became stoic as soon as she saw the young man, and after he finished talking, she just flew upwards into one of the doors on the tree.

"Ohh, okay. Please lead the way," Su Mei said.

The young man nodded and flew towards the Matriarch's place while Su Mei and Feng Wuji followed behind.

The young Moira Fairy who was leading them to the matriarchs wings were almost transparent like Mu Xiaolu's, but they had a slightly pink hue. Unlike the other fairies, who had curved lines that looked like flowers and trees on their wings, he had runes of roots and vines on his wings.

He was an oddity.

They flew for a long time until they reached the upper part of the tree and arrived in front of a massive door.

The young fairy then calmly flew towards the door.

"My name is Mu Zheng.Find me if you need anything."

"Step through the door and you'll find her.A word of advice—be polite. She's not a big fan of humans." He said as he flew away.

Mu Xiaolu sighed a breath of relief when she saw him go. She regained her sassy aura and said, "C'mon, let's go now." She opened the door and stepped in.

Feng Wuji clenched his hands. He felt something in him, but he didn't know what it was. Fear? He put all the thoughts aside and flew into the opened door with Su Mei, whose eyes were darting around.

When they entered, the first thing they noticed was her.

She had white hair that cascaded down her back like silk and green eyes that glowed like embers in the dark room. Her eyebrows were slanted, and each feature seemed able to enchant the soul of a person. Her lips were like cherries, plump and moist with a peach color; her entire face seemed to be the focal point of the universe, and she exuded an aura that made her godly.

She wore a black robe and sat on a throne, a gentle expression on her face.

"You're finally here," she uttered, her voice soothing and light.

Feng Wuji and Su Mei's gazes were transfixed on her; they had fallen into a daze.

"Erhhh... ermmm..." Mu Xiaolu's fake cough broke them out of their reverie. They quickly bowed and greeted her.

"We greet the Matriarch of the Moira Fairies. Thank you for having us."

The Matriarch smiled when she saw this. "Raise your heads."

They heeded her instructions and raised their heads.

The Matriarch's aura descended fully on Feng Wuji, and his breathing became hard. He felt like he was carrying a huge weight or burden.

"Which power from the outside world are you from?" she asked.

Feng Wuji was still struggling. Her aura was an intense pressure, some blood had begun to show on his lips, and his bones were creaking.

"The Celestial Lotus Sect."

Her expression changed. She canceled the pressure on Feng Wuji, then she turned to face Su Mei, whose body got filled with goosebumps as she felt the Matriarch's gaze. "And you?"

Su Mei composed herself and said, "Senior, I come from the Divinity Halo Sect."

"Ohh, that sect full of arrogant, stuck-up bastards."

The Matriarch removed her gaze from Su Mei and focused on Feng Wuji again.

"You tried to kill my children. How do you plan to make up for that?"

Su Mei glared at Feng Wuji. This bastard, she thought. I told him to stop mentioning killing the fairies, but he wouldn't listen, even mentioning it in the Moonlit Charm Domain!

"Of course not, Senior," Feng Wuji answered eloquently, though his hands were trembling. "I wasn't actually trying to kill them. They seemed inexperienced, and I tried to put a fear in their mind to make them reason more carefully."

"Oh really? Then how do you plan to repay me for traumatizing my children?"
