Chapter 518 - Chapter 518: Good News (A Surprise!)

"It seems Mr. Fawley really is busy," the President said with a false smile.

Tver ignored him and instead looked thoughtfully toward the door.

Bulstrode was his only wizard helper in the United States. Although Bulstrode mainly stayed beside Ian Russell and handled matters that ordinary methods could not resolve, he still counted as an important figure in Tver's arrangements for America.

For Bulstrode to abandon his work and even disregard the fact that their connection could not be made too obvious, coming all the way to the White House, it was clearly an extremely urgent matter.

Sure enough, without any instructions, and before the President had even agreed, Bulstrode appeared behind the female assistant like a ghost.

"I learned from the Ministry of Magic that you and Mr. Babajide had entered the country, so I came here immediately."

The sudden voice startled the female assistant and the President. Even Babajide was rather surprised by his ability to hide himself.

But Bulstrode merely glanced coldly at the panting assistant, silencing her noise, then nodded toward Tver.

Tver did not mind at all. On the contrary, he was rather looking forward to the news Bulstrode had brought.

"Go on."

"It's like this," Bulstrode said in his usual flat, almost mechanical tone.

"Williams's hospital reported a strange patient in a deep coma. He had more than a hundred lacerations across his body, and his left forearm had been cut open in a smooth, clean line."

"The strangest part is that none of these wounds can be stopped from bleeding through normal medical methods."

"Magical injuries, and an extremely severe case of Splinching," Babajide said with certainty.

But Bulstrode ignored him without giving him any face.

"After my examination, this is a wizard who failed to Apparate. Or rather, a wizard who forced Apparition too much and was Splinched."

"In addition, this person was once an Auror, an elite Auror, and someone you know, Professor."

"Oh?"

Since Bulstrode said that, it had to be someone Tver was familiar with.

And in America, a former Auror he could be considered familiar with…

"Yes." Seeing the look of realization on the professor's face, Bulstrode stopped keeping him in suspense. "It is Cruz Theron, the Head of the U.S. Department of Magical Law Enforcement, who personally went to investigate the Werewolf."

"Excuse me, let me interrupt." The President raised his hand in complete confusion. "Your department heads need to personally arrest criminals?"

That question left even Tver unsure how to answer.

He recalled Cruz's habit of blowing up the Statue of Liberty and said, "…This particular Head is rather special."

But compared with that strange question, he cared more about the incident itself.

"So how is Cruz now?" Tver asked with a frown. "And did he… find anything?"

"Mr. Cruz woke up after receiving help from a Healer. He told us that when he was heading home this afternoon, he inexplicably received a message from an informant. The Werewolf seemed to be planning to destroy another plane."

"The situation was urgent, so Mr. Cruz secretly boarded that plane. On the plane, he indeed found the Werewolf, and also discovered the Werewolf trying to sabotage the aircraft."

"After a fight, he successfully killed the Werewolf. Unfortunately, the plane had already been damaged and could no longer continue flying."

"In that critical moment, he had no choice but to Apparate before the explosion…"

"What about the passengers on the plane?!" Tver asked urgently.

What answered his urgency was a smile from Bulstrode that instantly set him at ease.

"Guess where the 227 people who carried Mr. Cruz to the hospital came from?"

Tver immediately broke into a grin, completely disregarding his image. Infected by him, Babajide laughed heartily as well, the sound nearly spreading through the open door and across the entire White House.

Even though Tver had been telling himself all along that sacrifice, chaos, and disaster were unavoidable in the process of dismantling The Statute of Secrecy, hearing that more than two hundred people had survived because of magic, because wizards existed, still made him feel sincerely happy.

As long as the world became better because of his existence, then no matter what he did, no matter how much misunderstanding he might have to bear, none of it would be meaningless.

The President also breathed a sigh of relief and smiled silently.

Although he did not understand what Apparition was, nor did he realize that taking more than two hundred people with him through Apparition was something that, in America, probably only Cruz, the Head famous for his combat strength, could accomplish, that did not stop him from clearly understanding one thing.

He had not only survived this crisis, but had turned disaster into fortune and would gain the support of a large number of people.

It could even be called a major event that would secure his place in history.

If he could fly, he would have flown over to hug Cruz Theron and kiss him for an entire day.

He loved magic to death.

Just then, the female assistant hurried over with a face full of shock, her high-heeled legs moving so fast they almost left afterimages.

"Mr. President, the passengers on the plane, including the flight crew… all of them have appeared in a hospital in New York. They're all safe and unharmed!"

"Er… Mr. President?"

Seeing the three of them laughing together as if they had gone mad, and even Bulstrode's previously indifferent face twisting into a strange smile, the assistant's doubtful expression froze on her face.

Had she walked into the wrong room?

Noticing that his young assistant was about to question her entire life, the President quickly rubbed his face, which had almost stiffened from smiling.

"It's all right. Mr. Bulstrode already told us the news, so everyone is happy."

The female assistant immediately breathed a sigh of relief. If that scene had happened somewhere gloomy, it could have scared her to death.

The joy on the President's face did not fade. Instead, he took the opportunity to look at Babajide and Tver.

"I wonder whether any of you would be interested in going to New York together to visit our hero?"

"Of course." Tver smiled, even looking at the President with a touch of mischief.

"I'm more curious about whether you, Mr. President, would be interested in trying magic yourself, the very same miraculous magic Cruz used to save an entire plane."

The President paused, but as if thinking of something, he smiled instead.

"Now I'm very interested indeed. It's called Apparition, correct? I can hardly wait."

At first, he had indeed worried that these magical wizards might harm him. But after a little thought, he knew such worries could exist, but they were meaningless.

The Wizards' Confederation and the Ministry of Magic, represented by Babajide and Tver, had always shown themselves to be maintaining social security. There was no need for them to plot against him.

Right?
