Chapter 66: Three Fists Shatter the Mammoth's Dream
New World Sea Route
The sun was high, and a massive, beast-like transport ship was tearing through the waves, its engines roaring.
A pirate lookout stumbled onto the deck, his face pale. "Lord Jack! A warship ahead! It's the Marines!!"
In the center of the deck, on a massive, custom-built iron throne, sat Jack. At only eighteen years old, he was already over six meters (20 feet) tall, a silent, imposing beast.
His fingers tapped on the armrest, each tap a heavy drumbeat.
He slowly opened his blood-red eyes. "Marines?"
He grinned, revealing sharp fangs, his voice a low, oppressive rumble. "Oh? There are still warships in this sea brave enough to show their faces in front of me?"
Jack stood, his massive frame like a moving iron tower. He grabbed his two giant, scythe-like weapons, their blades glinting.
He strode to the bow and snatched the telescope from the lookout.
"What do you see? Who's on board?" he growled.
The lookout trembled. "At the bow... a young-looking Rear Admiral, and... a woman in a pink Marine uniform? I... I don't recognize them..."
"A young Rear Admiral? And a woman?"
Jack squinted, then burst into a deafening laugh. "BWAHAHAHA! A snot-nosed brat and some broad?! Is the Navy trying to be funny?!"
He crossed his massive weapons. "I'll use their heads as appetizers for Lord Kaido!"
Jack pointed his blade at the warship. "Full speed ahead! Ram them! You think two Marine rookies can stop me?"
"YEAH!!!"
The transport ship roared to life, its cannons turning, charging forward like a raging bull!
On the Marine Warship
The sea breeze howled, but the warship sat steady in the water.
Roy and Gion stood side-by-side, watching the massive transport ship bear down on them.
Gion gently brushed a strand of hair from her face, her voice full of playful sarcasm. "My, my... pirates are so brave these days. Seeing a warship and charging at it, instead of running away?"
Roy didn't speak. His eye twitched as he recognized the figure at the enemy's bow.
That braided ponytail... the metal jaw... the mammoth tusks on his shoulders...
"Jack the Drought..."
His face darkened.
"The same reckless moron who'd later attack a convoy of four warships carrying Admiral Fujitora, former Fleet Admiral Sengoku, and Vice Admiral Tsuru... and he's already out here?"
Gion noticed his expression. "You know him?"
"Something like that..." Roy sighed, his eyes turning cold. "Gion-san, I'll be right back."
His coat snapped in the wind, and his figure vanished from the deck.
FWOOSH!
Gion just rested her hand on the hilt of her sword, a small smile on her face. "Heh... always in a hurry. Don't play with your food for too long, Roy~"
On the Beast Pirates' Transport Ship
"For Lord Jack!! Crush the Marines!!"
The pirates were roaring, victory already assured in their minds. Jack stood at the bow, his killing intent boiling!
The next instant—
"BOOM!!!!"
A deafening crash, as if a meteor had struck, sent the entire ship lurching violently. The deck planks exploded, and pirates were sent flying.
In the center of the chaos, the young Marine Rear Admiral slowly stood up, one hand in his pocket, his eyes as cold as frost.
It was Roy.
"So, you're Jack."
Jack stumbled back, his eyes locked on the man who had just crossed kilometers of ocean in an instant.
"He came here in a second?!"
He had never felt a pressure like this from anyone but Lord Kaido himself.
"Hmph! Good of you to come to me!" Jack roared, forcing his confidence back. "Let's see if you're even worthy of dying by my hand!"
Roy just stood there and sighed. "You really don't know your own limits."
"Don't look down on me!!" Jack bellowed, his six-meter frame charging. He brought his twin shotels down, two black crescents aimed straight at Roy's head!
SHIING!
The blades sliced through... an afterimage.
"What?!" Jack's eyes widened.
A fist coated in thick, black Armament Haki appeared in his vision and smashed directly into his metal-plated jaw!
"BAM!!"
The first punch shattered his arrogant mouth!
A sickening crunch echoed out as Jack's proud tusks, his metal jaw, and the bones in his face shattered. Blood and broken teeth sprayed from his mouth as his head was snapped back!
"Guh-AAAAH—!"
Before Jack could even register the pain, the second punch was already there. Roy's left fist, moving like a phantom, smashed directly into Jack's left knee.
"CRACK!!!"
The second punch shattered his path of escape!
The sound of his kneecap disintegrating was sickening. Jack's entire leg gave way, and his mountain-like body collapsed, smashing through the deck planks and landing in a heap!
"GAH... AARGH...!!" Jack roared in agony, but the third punch was already falling.
No wind-up, no wasted motion. A simple, straight punch... that hit his stomach with the force of a falling mountain.
"THUD!!!"
A dull, heavy sound. Jack's entire midsection caved in. The shockwave exploded from his back, and he spat up a torrent of blood and bile. His eyes rolled back as his massive body was blasted backward, crashing through the rear cabin, and collapsing the entire stern of the ship in a cloud of splintered wood and smoke.
If Roy hadn't pulled the punch at the last second, it would have gone straight through Jack and the ship's hull, sinking him into the sea.
The entire ship was dead silent.
The battle had lasted three seconds.
One punch to break his arrogant mouth.
One punch to break his legs.
One punch to break his body and his pride.
Jack, a future All-Star of the Beast Pirates, was unconscious in the wreckage of his own ship.
The pirates stared, their minds blank. Their "strongest future warrior"... hadn't even lasted three punches.
"Is... is he... human...?" one of them stammered.
"L-Lord Jack... in three... hits...?!"
Roy stood at the edge of the crater, shaking his fist. "Pathetic. He can't even take a punch."
He stomped his foot, and the already-damaged mast cracked.
He turned to the terrified pirates. "Don't just stand there. Surrender."
He warped, reappearing a moment later with a squad of Marines. "The rest is yours. Tie up the ones who are still breathing. If they resist, execute them."
He glanced at the smoking hole where Jack had disappeared. "Especially that moron. Put him in triple-layered Seastone chains."
On the Marine warship, Gion watched Roy casually stroll back, his coat immaculate. She looked at the enemy ship, which was now listing to one side, its stern caved in, and let out a soft, amused laugh.
"My, my... he said he'd 'be right back,' but he just had to punch the poor man straight through his own ship, didn't he?"
