Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: What Does It Mean to Be Capable and Work Hard?

"No slacking off! Get up! The enemy on the battlefield won't give you time to rest." Yamamoto gave Yamabuki no chance to catch his breath, sending an uppercut towards his stomach.

Under duress, Yamabuki could only resort to the legendary secret technique, the lazy donkey roll!

He narrowly avoided the Captain Commander's punch!

Since this Old Man was being so overbearing, he couldn't be blamed for being impolite. Yamabuki was going to get serious. Yamabuki charged forward with full power! Yamabuki was instantly defeated by the Captain Commander!

"As long as you can make this Old Man retreat a single step, I'll consider you qualified!" Yamamoto said calmly, "Your movements are fast, but your power is too scattered! You need to concentrate all your strength into one point to deliver the maximum damage!"

Yamabuki's mind recalled the martial arts tutorial videos from his previous life. Why did he watch so many Lightning Five-Strike Whip videos...? Weren't there any proper ones? He couldn't possibly use the Lightning Five-Strike Whip, a peerless martial art, against the Captain Commander. What if he accidentally injured him?

"Remember, in boxing, the power comes from the legs, then to the waist, then to the shoulders, and finally to the fist!" Yamamoto said.

This was actually a basic principle of boxing, but Yamabuki hadn't even learned the basics yet.

"Starting the power from the legs?" Yamabuki suddenly stomped the ground, and the power flowed from his legs to his waist, to his shoulders, and finally to his fist. He launched a fierce punch towards Yamamoto, who raised his arms to block.

"Bang!!!"

The moment their arms collided, it was as if a bomb had exploded in the training hall. Although Yamamoto's body remained unmoving, a hint of shock flashed in his eyes. What a heavy punch! The force of this punch had almost reached the limit of a Vice Captain! He actually mastered the punching technique so quickly!

"This Old Man's judgment was indeed correct; you truly are a prodigy! Ultimate Body Technique Secret Art, Dual Bone!" Yamamoto decided to push Yamabuki's potential even further.

Yamabuki immediately felt overwhelming pressure and could only use the defensive technique he had just learned to block with all his might.

"Boom!!!"

The instant Yamamoto's fist connected with his arm, his mind went blank. When he reacted, his body was sent flying by an irresistible force, tumbling and crashing through two walls before finally stopping!

"Cap... Captain Commander... are you trying to kill me?!"

Yamamoto calmly retracted his fist: "Why are you panicking? You're not dead, are you? Hurry up and heal yourself. You've already mastered basic body techniques. Next, I'll teach you Kenjutsu."

Yamabuki lay on the ground, healing himself. He wondered if it was because he had used Kaido so much, but he found that his Soul Power had increased significantly.

Three minutes later, Yamabuki leaped up, full of vigor!

This Kaido thing is really convenient!

Of course, Yamabuki didn't plan to promote it widely. After all, for ordinary people, their energy is limited.

As long as one excels in one of the Four Great Noble Skills—Zanjutsu, Hakuda, Shunpo, and Kido—they can become a decent powerhouse. Learning too much can easily lead to biting off more than one can chew.

When it came to swordsmanship, Yamabuki was full of confidence.

Aside from giving him a title, his unreliable system had also given him a Sword Mastery skill, and after several practical battles, he was very confident in his swordsmanship.

In terms of technique alone, he was no less skilled than Kinroku Izuhara or Saitō Furōfushi.

"Come on! Attack!" Yamamoto shouted.

"Hmph! Since you said so, I won't be polite. I'm going to get back all the face I lost just now! Regret it, Old Man!"

Yamabuki activated Shunpo, using its speed to drive his sword, instantly creating extremely high damage.

Both of them were holding Kenpachi, so Yamabuki wasn't worried that his Kenpachi would injure the Captain Commander.

Yamamoto lightly flicked his Kenpachi, deflecting Yamabuki's attack.

"Hmm, your swordsmanship is much stronger than your hand-to-hand combat! In terms of swordsmanship alone, you are no weaker than anyone in the Gotei 13, except for me!" Yamamoto said.

Are you praising me or showing off yourself?

Yamabuki was too embarrassed to expose him!

He lightly tapped his toes on the ground, and the Kenpachi in his hand chopped down towards the Old Man's shoulder.

As a result, Yamamoto gripped his sword with both hands and, with a light swing, directly knocked the Kenpachi out of Yamabuki's hand.

"One-handed swords are indeed more flexible, but the power of two-handed swords is far beyond what one-handed swords can compare to!" Yamamoto said, "But with your comprehension, you'll learn it quickly, won't you?"

Indeed, the instantaneous burst of power and speed from a two-handed sword is far beyond what one hand can achieve, and it was inevitable that Yamabuki's swordsmanship sacrificed some attack power for the pursuit of ultimate speed.

"Hmm! I have a preliminary understanding of your strength now. Let's stop here for today. I happen to have another task for you." Yamamoto said.

Yamabuki activated Shunpo and ran off. "I've been beaten so badly by you, can't I rest for an afternoon?"

Then he was caught back by Yamamoto with an even faster Shunpo!

Trying to run? What a joke!

"The task I'm giving you is simple. Although the Gotei 13 has just been established, the combat power of these newcomers is far from enough. I want you to serve as a new recruit instructor and teach them the techniques of Zanjutsu, Hakuda, Shunpo, and Kido." Yamamoto said.

Training new recruits?

This was a thankless job!

Yamabuki said with a mischievous smile, "Captain Commander, you see Captain Shihouin and Captain Saitō don't have much to do every day. Wouldn't it be good if you let them train the new recruits? I still have a lot of work on my hands. Why do you insist on making me deal with those new recruits every day?"

"If you don't want to... that's fine. We're friends, after all, I won't force you to do something you don't want to do. Starting tomorrow, you'll train with me for eight hours every day..."

"Our Gotei 13 has just been established, and new recruit training is an inescapable duty. How could I shirk it? I guarantee I'll train the piss out of those brats! Captain Commander, rest assured, in at most a month, you'll see the results of the training." Yamabuki said righteously.

Yamamoto suppressed his laughter, his face serious: "As expected of my confidant. Go on, I want to see results in a month! Make these new recruits understand that combat is not child's play. Oh, by the way, I just wrote two couplets. You can post them in the training ground later."

Yamabuki took the two couplets.

"Squad members shall die for the Gotei!"

"If there are those who harm the Gotei, they themselves must die!"

Yamabuki circled the two couplets, planning to properly intimidate the new recruits during tomorrow's training!

"Then I'll be going now! Just wait for the results!" Yamabuki ran away as if escaping, but he was caught back by Yamamoto halfway through.

"Oh, right, and at Shino'o Academy, there's no teacher right now, so I'll also ask you to play the role of a teacher there."
