Chapter 30 - Surviving Grocery Day with Shihon

Shihon, after putting on her favorite clothes that included her beautiful hooded 'ear pockets' that hid her black horns, took one final look at the bedroom door before slowly opening the front door.

Sorry about this, Master, but I promise that I'll be back soon.

With that, she exited the house and took a peek at the houses adjacent to her.

I've never thought about what Master's neighbors would think if they saw a girl like me leave his house at this time, she thought. I better make my leave quick.

Thus, as soon as she stepped onto the concrete sidewalk, she broke into a full sprint and dashed away with only one goal in mind- The Polar Town Supermarket.

***

In less than one minute, she had arrived at the large complex, and her eyes widened as she took in the beauty of the building.

Laden with a beautiful glossy blue and white was the one-story building, surrounded with a crowd of passers-by with their Magical Beasts. She exhaled and entered with diligence, spotting the sign by the automatic doors saying, "To reduce the accidents in the supermarket, please refrain from entering with your Magical Beasts unless it is deemed necessary by the staff members."

She simply rolled her eyes and scoffed.

Hehe, thankfully, they won't realize that I am a Magical Beast in my human form. I win-

BEEP BEEP!

Fuck.

She cursed under her breath as she looked up in dismay while two women from behind the entrance approached her.

She, along with an older woman had walked into a Magical Beast monitor at the same time. This monitor was one of the newest technologies that was able to sense the movement of mana flowing into a beast.

Thankfully for Shihon, the new tech was still in its alpha state and was not fully complete, as replay and inspection technology that could show the location of the Beast were not available yet. Therefore, she had to be manually searched or asked about bringing a Magical Beast inside, and Shihon quickly reached in her pockets and pulled out only a wallet and a phone, causing confusion with the two staff members.

"If she doesn't have a Magical Beast with her, then…"

They both naturally faced the older woman with a purse, as she had entered at the same exact time as Shihon did. They moved onto her, and Shihon quickly slithered into the store.

T-That was close…the outside world sure is scary, she murmured internally.

Even now, as she grabbed an empty shopping cart and proceeded to enter the first isle, she couldn't help but notice the stares and glances from people who passed by her.

Was it because of her unusual outfit, or her dark complexion? She couldn't tell, but shrugged it off and continued to move forward.

She hastily looked for the isle that contained the ingredients needed for the soup with her Master's restlessness in mind, and found it within one minute. She quickly scanned the area, trying her best not to waste too much time as she simultaneously skimmed though the screen on the phone that she held in her left hand, confirming the things required in the list provided.

"We don't have much vegetable oil, so…..ah, it must be somewhere here," she muttered.

Looking for a large bottle, she soon stopped and stared from a close distance, spotting only one large bottle left.

S-Seriously? It's almost out of stock! We'll, let's get it-

As she moved forward to collect it, however, a seven-year old boy hobbled over and grabbed it before showing his parents, and their faces lit up.

"Oh yes, we definitely need this! Good eye, Carlos! You're so smart!"

The plump boy giggled as the father gave him a pat on the head and retrieved the bottle from his miniature hands, before finally noticing Shihon.

Shihon closed her eyes and smiled innocently despite a vein popping on her forehead, forcing herself not to punt the baby with all her might.

It's fine….it's fine….it's fine…..calm down, Shihon, she reprimanded herself. Master would not want you to do it….and if you do it, you'll get in sooooo much trouble….ughhhh, but I really needed that for Master!!!!"

"W-What a cute kid you guys have…" was all that she could muster out of her trembling lips.

"Thank you!" was the genuine joyful reply from the couple, and the young boy stuck his tongue out and smiled teasingly as if his action was intentional, increasing Shihon's temper to a maximum, and she quickly grabbed a small bottle of vegetable oil and strutted off.

Fat fucking baby needing vegetable oil to make himself even more fat. Fuck off. I'll make you pay one day for stopping me from getting the best for my Master.

And yes, you did not read that wrong. Shihon had pretty much declared war on a seven-year old.

Unfortunately for her, as she found celery while also searching for carrots, a younger couple had picked a bunch that she was eyeing, and despite it still being largely in stock, Shihon gave them a forced smile before a death glare was shot into their backs as they walked off.

Interacting with humans other than Liohime was harder than she thought, and speaking of him…

I'm already missing him. Let's get the other stuff on this list and return quickly so that I can gaze at his cute face once again before going to cook.

Her mood immediately lightened at the thought of him, and she skipped about while pushing the shopping cart forward.

With multiple shopping bags in her hand, Shihon began to jog, anxious about returning home.

Would Liohime realize that she had left? Would he be angry if he did notice? What would she do if that happened?

She gulped and almost broke into a full sprint when-

"Help-mmff!!"

"Keep your mouth shut or I'll shoot."

She stopped, and turned her head as her ears perked up within the hooded clothing.

--Shihon glanced at the corner of a nearby dark alley, with two figures being mostly hidden behind a huge dumpster, and was faced with a big decision once again.
