Chapter 36 - Water Divination X Rasengan

"What? You're trying to rebel already?"

"Brat, with your half-baked Nen control, forget ten years... Even if I gave you a hundred years, you wouldn't be able to stand a single blow from me."

Maha put down the H-manga in his hands and patted his round belly. 'What's wrong with an old man eating a little of his grandson's stuff? Look how angry he is.'

'Is that what you call a little? You're a damn bandit, you practically peeled the wallpaper off my walls to eat.'

Sean suppressed the fire in his chest, forcing himself not to look at the mountain of trash, and slowly calmed down.

Maha was right. Practicing Nen abilities wasn't as simple as one plus one equals two.

From his fight with Silva, Sean had already realized that his mastery and understanding of Nen were too crude.

The Four Major Principles: 'Ten', 'Zetsu', 'Ren', 'Hatsu'. He didn't know a single one, let alone the more advanced techniques like 'Shu', 'In', 'Gyo', 'En', 'Ken', 'Ko', or 'Ryu'.

Fortunately, his surname was Zoldyck. He naturally possessed an advantage others didn't have, which was—

He had a bunch of experienced old-timers at home. For example... Silva, a Transmuter, was better at shooting Nen bullets than the Emitter, Franklin.

Or Zeno, whose 'En' could cover a radius of 300 meters. Compared to Nobunaga's 'En', which was only as long as his katana, the latter was simply laughable.

Not to mention... the "White Jade Pillar of Heaven, the Purple-Gold Beam of the Sea" of the Zoldyck family, the world's number one assassin and one of the five strongest Nen users, Maha Zoldyck!

"Grandpa, it's fine if you ate it. It's no big deal. I'll just have Gotoh buy a few more boxes." 'It would be a criminal waste not to exploit this treasure mountain right in front of me.'

Sean's eyes darted around. He fixed his gaze on Maha, floated behind the old man, and started massaging his shoulders.

Maha's body stiffened. That "Grandpa" almost gave him goosebumps!

'The little brat must be scheming again.' "Stop massaging. This old man can't handle it."

The rocking chair stopped rocking, and the H-manga was set aside. Maha sat up, glaring at Sean. "If you have something to say, spit it out! Don't put on this pathetic act with me."

'This old bastard refuses a toast only to drink a forfeit, huh? How many people beg me, Sean, for a shoulder massage and can't get one?'

Sean wiped his hands on Maha's pajamas and got straight to the point. "Three updates this week, in exchange for one piece of advice from you."

"Pah! In your dreams." Maha scoffed mercilessly. "Isn't your 'three updates' just a matter of adding one more brat?"

"And you want to freeload this old man's precious experience for that? Keep dreaming."

"Oh" Sean said, his expression flat. "In that case, I'll just stop updating."

'Giving him face, but he doesn't want it, huh? Big deal, I'll just stop drawing "Pot Shadow Ninja" and switch to "Pirate King"!'

"You!" Maha's face darkened. He raised his hand as if to strike, but halfway there, he lowered it dejectedly. "Hmph! Four updates!"

"Not one less!"

"Deal!" Just as Maha said, it was just a matter of adding two more clones. It wouldn't tire Sean out.

Sean sat down confidently at the desk, looking at Maha with a grin. "I knew Grandpa doted on me the most. Go ahead."

Maha's mouth twitched. 'The kid gets cocky so easily.' He spoke reluctantly, "Brat, do you even understand your own 'Nen'?"

'What does he mean?' "Comic Heaven" fused with "Appraisal" to forge "Sage AI". Sean had experienced this process personally.

'Does that count as understanding?' Sean frowned at Maha.

Maha raised a hand. With a flash of golden Nen, a glass of water floated steadily in front of him.

"Put your hand over it."

'Water Divination?' Sean raised an eyebrow. "There's no need to test. I'm certain I'm a 'Specialist'."

The "Water Divination" method was a small test to assess one's Nen category. In the experiment, a leaf is placed in the water, and by observing the changes in the water's state, the subject's Nen type can be inferred.

For example, an "Enhancer" would increase the volume of water.

"Manipulator": The leaf on the water would move.

"Emitter": The color of the water would change.

"Transmuter": The taste of the water would change.

"Conjurer": Crystals would form in the water.

Any other change fell under "Specialist".

Sean was a naturally awakened Specialist, and with the "Appraisal" talent he gained from breaking his self-awareness barrier, he was undoubtedly a Specialist.

There was no need to waste time on this.

Maha shot Sean an annoyed look. "This old man knows you're a 'Specialist'. You don't need to show off."

Saying this, Maha placed his hand over the glass. "The first step to understanding 'Nen' is to learn to communicate with 'Nen', to command it to act according to your will."

"See this glass of water? I'm now ordering it to spin."

Swish The water began to spin along the wall of the glass.

Then, "I'm now ordering it to stop."

The swirling water abruptly stopped.

Finally, Maha added, "I'm now ordering it to make a flower."

The stagnant water bizarrely formed a rose, leaving Sean dumbfounded!

'This is 'commanding' it? Why does it feel like this glass of water is alive, completely obeying Maha's commands, hitting whatever target he points at?'

"Huh? No, wait... This kind of control over 'Nen', why does it look so familiar?"

Coming back to his senses, Sean stared intently at the glass of water. He felt as if he had seen that last scene somewhere before.

Suddenly, he slapped his hand down.

He almost gave the old man a heart attack, who burst out cursing, "Brat, what are you doing, being so jumpy?"

"I'm warning you, I've already given you the guidance. If you can't learn it, it has nothing to do with this old man."

"In any case, four updates this week, not one less!"

"Don't worry, I'm not like some people whose words are just farts." Sean laughed excitedly.

He had finally, in that instant, captured where that sense of familiarity came from—

Wasn't this so-called "understanding Nen" and "commanding Nen" just "making a Rasengan"?

Imbuing one's thoughts into a ball of chakra—wasn't that the "Rasengan"?

In Naruto, Jiraiya's training for Naruto to master the Rasengan was so similar to the old man's "spinning water"... The only difference was that the command over Nen was just a bit more refined.

'One thought clicks, all thoughts click.' Sean immediately asked the "Sage" mentally, "How much 'Feedback Value' does it cost to redeem the 'Rasengan'?"

Nearly half a month had passed since the bell test. After clearing his balance last time, Sean had accumulated another batch of "Feedback Value". He just didn't know if it was enough.

[Reply to Host: Redeeming "Rasengan" requires: 500 "Reader Feedback Value" points.]

["Big Ball Rasengan": 1000 points.]

["Rasenshuriken": 5000 points.]

[Detecting Host's current balance: 643 points.]

[Does the Host wish to redeem "Rasengan" immediately?]

"No rush, tomorrow." Sean's eyes flickered as he directly refused the "Sage".

The night was already deep. He would wait until tomorrow when his essence, energy, and spirit were at their peak. It was just meat on the chopping block anyway; it couldn't run away.

After the excitement, drowsiness set in. Sean took a quick shower, said goodnight to Maha, and went straight to sleep.

Hiss... ya... A slight snore was heard.

With his white hair fanning out, Zeno appeared, hands behind his back.

"Grandfather, how long do you think it will take this kid to learn 'spinning water'?"

"At least a month," Maha said without looking up. "Calculated based on my training progress... As for you..."

"Hmph... let's not even mention it."
