Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: Mission Complete, The Second Martial Soul

Chapter 44: Mission Complete, The Second Martial Soul

Qi Tian suddenly realized what was happening. Back then, Bibi Dong had been in seclusion, focusing on breaking through to the Soul Saint realm — no wonder she hadn't returned to Spirit Hall.

He chuckled softly. "Then congratulations are in order!"

So, Qian Xunji had married the youngest daughter of the Glowing Feather Douluo, huh? Would their child still be Qian Renxue?

Given that Glowing Feather Douluo's martial soul was light-type, her daughter's martial soul was likely the same. If their child inherited both the Holy Light and Angelic bloodlines, she'd probably be an even more fitting "Heaven's Chosen" than Bibi Dong with her Spider Emperor Martial Soul.

'Since Qian Xunji is about to have a child,' Qi Tian mused, 'doesn't that mean my mission with Bibi Dong is complete?'

Having sorted things out, Qi Tian turned to Liu Erlong and said, "Indeed, I'll need to return to Spirit City. Erlong, would you like to come with me?"

Liu Erlong shook her head. "I'll pass. I want to go home and spend time with my mother. Besides, it's not convenient for me to appear in Spirit City."

After all, even though Yu Luomian had the intention of aligning with Spirit Hall, he couldn't openly show support. Otherwise, how would the Clear Sky Sect and Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect view it?

Qi Tian nodded. "Fair enough. In that case, let's travel back to Heaven Dou City together first."

"Alright," Liu Erlong agreed without hesitation.

Bibi Dong blinked in confusion. "Wait, why are we going back to Heaven Dou City first?"

Qi Tian smiled. "You've been away from Spirit City for so long. Don't you think it'd be good to bring a gift back?"

"Gift?" Bibi Dong was momentarily stunned before realization dawned on her.

"You mean... the immortal herbs from the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well?"

"Exactly," Qi Tian said with a faint grin. "There are countless rare herbs there. Gather some and use them to win hearts."

Those herbs grew at an astonishing rate — a single year there was equivalent to several centuries in the outside world. There was no need to worry about overharvesting. In a decade or two, new millennia-old herbs and even Ten-thousand-year herbs would take their place.

"Alright," Bibi Dong nodded firmly. "I'll do as you say."

Qi Tian smiled faintly. Good. She's learning.

If she didn't understand how to grant favors and win loyalty, how could she ever hope to become the Pope one day? Ruling with strength alone would never be enough.

A few days later, when Qi Tian possessed Bibi Dong's body for the third time, she had already returned to Spirit City.

That very day, Qi Tian arrived just in time to witness the birth of Qian Xunji's child.

He followed the others to the Pope's residence, where the atmosphere was tense and expectant.

Outside the delivery chamber stood Qian Daoliu, Qian Xunji, and several of Spirit Hall's worship elders — all waiting for news.

"Father," Qian Xunji said anxiously, pacing back and forth, "Binger's been inside for so long... why isn't there any crying yet?"

Standing beside him, Qian Daoliu looked calm and composed. The two didn't appear like father and son — more like brothers in arms.

"Relax, Xunji," Qian Daoliu said with a gentle smile. "Binger's soul power is quite strong. Childbirth won't endanger her. Besides, healing-type soul masters are assisting her. Both mother and child will be fine."

Only then did Qian Xunji breathe out slowly, turning his attention to Bibi Dong.

"Dong'er, you finally decided to return to Spirit City and visit your teacher?" he said warmly.

Qi Tian's heart tensed as their eyes met. For a moment, he felt a strange familiarity — Qian Xunji's righteous aura was strikingly similar to Qian Daoliu's.

He composed himself and replied respectfully, "Teacher, I can't always rely on your protection. I must learn to stand on my own."

Qian Daoliu nodded approvingly. "Well said. You've done well, Bibi Dong. You've accomplished many things even I, as Grand Elder, should have done."

"You traveled across the continent, rooted out corruption within Spirit Hall, and helped improve our reputation among the people. That is a great contribution."

Qi Tian quickly bowed. "It's all thanks to the guidance of my teacher and the Grand Elder!"

At that, laughter spread among the group.

"Haha! See? That's the benefit of experience — she's learned to speak well!"

Even Bibi Dong, standing beside him, couldn't help feeling dazed as she watched Qi Tian interact so naturally with them.

For some reason, her heart stirred, and she suddenly remembered the words Qi Tian had once spoken to her long ago...

"Qi Tian, now that my teacher already has a child," Bibi Dong asked softly, "do I still need to avoid him?"

Qi Tian thought for a moment before answering. "Do what your heart tells you to do. Follow your own will."

Then he smiled faintly. "But don't you think training out there in the real world helps you grow faster than staying inside the Spirit Hall?"

Bibi Dong paused, then nodded in agreement. "That's true. My martial soul is the Death Spider Emperor — its growth thrives in battle. The more I fight and kill, the faster my cultivation advances."

Over the past few years, she had slain many fallen soul masters, hypocritical nobles, and even corrupt officials within Spirit Hall itself. Each time she struck down such scum, she could feel her strength and soul power advancing rapidly, as if her martial soul resonated with the death she delivered.

Qi Tian nodded approvingly. "Exactly. You're already a Soul Saint now. Why not push forward and reach the Soul Douluo realm before returning to Spirit City? Only then will you have the strength to truly assist Spirit Hall — and your teacher."

Bibi Dong thought it over and realized his words made sense. Spirit City was filled with Soul Saints; one more made little difference.

Besides, she remembered what Qi Tian had once told her — that her teacher's death had come by her own hands in the future. If that was true, wouldn't avoiding him now help prevent that tragedy?

Just as she was lost in thought, a joyous cry came from inside the delivery room.

"She's born! Congratulations, Your Holiness — it's a girl! Both mother and child are safe!"

The moment the words fell, Qian Xunji burst into the room without hesitation.

The others, out of propriety, stayed outside for the moment.

After a short while, with Qian Xunji's permission, everyone entered.

On the bed lay a beautiful woman — her looks not inferior to Bibi Dong's — gently cradling a newborn baby in her arms.

Unlike ordinary infants, the child wasn't wrinkled or frail. Her skin was soft, her eyes bright — her tiny face already held an extraordinary charm.

"What a remarkable child," Qian Daoliu praised, his eyes gleaming with divine light. "She doesn't cry, doesn't fuss, and her aura is calm and noble. She's destined for greatness."

Qian Xunji gazed at his daughter, a rare smile crossing his face.

"Father, would you do the honor of naming her?"

Qian Daoliu was about to decline when a sudden warmth spread from the center of his brow — a faint image of a holy sword appearing for just a moment.

He froze slightly, then spoke as if guided by divine inspiration.

"Bright as ice, pure as snow... Let her name be Qian Renxue. What do you think?"

He could feel it clearly — the Angel God was guiding him, whispering that this child was destined to bear that name.

"Qian Renxue... What a beautiful name!" Qian Xunji said joyfully. "My daughter shall be called Qian Renxue!"

"Qian Renxue?" Qi Tian murmured under his breath, dazed. 'So, even after everything I've changed… She's still born under the same name.'

At that moment, a familiar chime echoed in his mind — the sound of the system.

[Ding! Congratulations to the host! The tragic fate of Bibi Dong has been altered. The possession mission — 'Bibi Dong' — is complete.]

[Reward: Second Martial Soul — granted!]

[After mission completion, the host will no longer be able to possess the target 'Bibi Dong'. Please handle any consequences accordingly.]

"It's finally over," Qi Tian breathed, excitement surging in his chest.

He had done it — he had completed the mission, and now… he was about to obtain his second martial soul!

However, he was still using Bibi Dong's body at the moment. He'd have to return to his own time before he could truly see what form his new martial soul had taken.

Around him, Spirit City was filled with joy. The birth of Qian Renxue had brought light and celebration to every corner of the Holy Mountain.

Taking advantage of the distraction, Qi Tian quietly slipped away to his quarters. He needed to prepare — and to say goodbye.

Bibi Dong, sensing something was off, turned toward him.

"Qi Tian, what's wrong?"

Qi Tian hesitated for a moment before speaking softly.

"Bibi Dong... my soul is about to return to the future. After this, I won't be able to possess your body anymore."

Bibi Dong's eyes widened in shock. "Why?!" she asked urgently.

Then, as if realizing something terrible, her expression shifted.

"Wait… is it because we changed the future? Did something happen to your world because of it?"

Qi Tian didn't answer — but the silence spoke volumes.
