Chapter 117 - Chapter 117

Orion Oak stood in the Pokémon Home lobby, the excitement from the tournament still humming in the air. The remaining trainers gathered around him. Batgirl, glowing with pride, held Frogadier in her arms. Valeria, composed and analytical, cradled Beldum. Robin, ever stoic, stood with Pawniard. Their Pokémon partners seemed to share their trainers' energy, a quiet anticipation in the room.

"Congratulations to our top three trainers," Orion announced, his voice clear. "Batgirl, Valeria, and Robin. Each of you displayed exceptional skill, strategy, and an incredible bond with your Pokémon."

He paused, letting the words settle, then turned to Batgirl. "Batgirl, for your outstanding victory as the first-place champion, I present you with this."

Orion held out a shimmering Pokémon egg. It glowed with a soft, ethereal light, shifting colors like a tiny galaxy contained within a smooth shell. Batgirl accepted it with a gasp, her eyes wide with curiosity and awe. She gently turned the egg in her hands, her fingers tracing its surface.

"It's beautiful," she whispered, a thoughtful smile spreading across her face. "How do I hatch it?"

"Keep it close to you, Batgirl," Orion advised, his voice soft. "Your warmth and your bond will encourage it. It will hatch in the coming weeks, revealing a rare and wonderful Pokémon."

Batgirl nodded, her smile firming with determination. This was a new responsibility, a new life to care for. She gently tucked the egg into a pouch on her utility belt, ensuring it was safe and secure.

Orion then turned to Valeria, offering the prize for second place. "Valeria, your strategic mind is a formidable asset. For your exceptional performance, I present you with this."

He held out a shimmering, faceted stone, glowing with a soft, ethereal light. It pulsed with an inner brilliance, like captured starlight.

"A Dawn Stone," Valeria observed, her voice clear and analytical. "An evolution item, according to the guidebook."

She took the stone, turning it in her palm. The surface felt cool and smooth. Valeria's mind already cataloged its known properties and the Pokémon it could affect. None of her current partners, Beldum or Lunatone, could use it. However, its value was undeniable for future possibilities, a pragmatic tool for growth. She would file it with her other research notes.

"Thank you, Orion," Valeria said, carefully placing the Dawn Stone into a compartment on her utility belt. "It will be a valuable resource."

Orion smiled, then faced Robin. "Robin, your discipline and tactical precision were truly impressive. As the third-place recipient, this is for you."

He presented Robin with a sleek, black Technical Machine, the TM's symbol glowing faintly. Robin took it with a curt nod, his expression unchanging. He examined the device, instantly recognizing its function.

"TM Protect," Robin stated, his gaze fixed on the item. "A defensive maneuver."

"Indeed," Orion confirmed. "It will allow Pawniard to learn the move Protect, further enhancing your tactical options in battle."

Robin considered this. Pawniard, his loyal partner, stood at attention beside him, its bladed arms still. The ability to shield itself in battle offered a crucial advantage. Robin saw the immediate utility, a necessary addition to their arsenal. He clipped the TM to his utility belt, a silent acknowledgment of its worth.

"Understood," Robin replied, a faint, almost imperceptible nod of satisfaction in his posture. "Pawniard will integrate it."

Orion then ensured the remaining trainers received their participation prizes. He presented each of them with a gleaming Friend Ball and a small box of assorted Poké Blocks. Starfire, holding Togepi, beamed with gratitude. Beast Boy, with Rockruff bouncing around him, gave a wide, goofy grin. Cyborg, Whismur resting on his shoulder, nodded his thanks. Raven, her expression softening a fraction, accepted the gifts with Misdreavus hovering nearby. Kamala, with Eevee nestled in her arms, smiled brightly. Doreen, Emolga perched on her head, gave a cheerful thumbs-up. Harley, whooping, snatched her prizes with Houndour barking happily beside her. Even Ivy, a faint smile playing on her lips, took her gifts, Budew swaying gently in its terrarium. Franklin, cradling Ralts, accepted his with quiet excitement.

The lobby buzzed with conversation, a happy echo of friendly competition.

"This tournament was totally awesome, dude!" Beast Boy exclaimed, pumping a fist into the air. "Rockruff and I are gonna train so hard, we'll be unstoppable next time! Beast-yah!"

Starfire clapped her hands, her green eyes sparkling. "Yes, this was truly an enjoyable bonding experience! Togepi and I shall also train with great vigor. We shall achieve the ultimate friendship-power!"

Cyborg chuckled, patting Whismur. "You know it! Whismur and I are going to hit the training room. We'll be ready for a rematch, Beast Boy."

Franklin, adjusting his glasses, nodded with a determined glint in his eyes. "Ralts and I are going to become stronger! You won't know what hit you."

Harley, always one for a grand declaration, threw an arm around Houndour. "Yeah! Next time, it's going to be a total Harl-y-cane victory!"

Ivy, ever the pragmatist, offered a subtle nod of agreement. "Budew and I also gained valuable experience. We will certainly be more prepared."

A collective excitement filled the air as the trainers spoke of the coming world transformation and the descent of more wild Pokémon. They looked forward to the expansion of their world, eager to meet new creatures and form new partnerships. Everyone shared their anticipation, recognizing the pivotal moment their world was approaching.

"I cannot wait to see what new friends will arrive!" Starfire exclaimed, Togepi bouncing gently in her arms. "Togepi and I shall greet them with much joy!"

"More Pokémon means more data to analyze," Valeria noted, a thoughtful expression on her face. "The ecological shifts alone will be a scientific goldmine."

Franklin, still holding Ralts, grinned. "And maybe more Psychic-types! Imagine all the mind-melding playdates!"

Beast Boy's eyes widened. "Think of all the new animal forms I could turn into! A Gogoat! A Snorlax! A… a Wobbuffet!"

Even Robin, a rare spark of something akin to curiosity in his eyes, admitted, "New species will provide advanced training opportunities. Pawniard and I will adapt."

Harley clapped her hands, Houndour wagging its tail. "New friends to prank! Or, ya know, new buddies for a totally harmless bank heist!"

Ivy sighed, a slight smile on her lips. "More flora, Harley. Think of the new plants."

Kamala hugged Eevee. "It's like the whole world is leveling up! I can't wait to see who Eevee meets next."

Doreen, with Emolga chittering happily on her shoulder, added, "More friends for my squirrel army! We'll have the best nut-gathering teams ever!"

One by one, the trainers offered their goodbyes to Orion, Latias, and Pikachu. They left Pokémon Home, their voices still carrying the energy of the tournament and the promise of future adventures. Orion watched them go, a satisfied smile on his face. The trainers and their Pokémon had grown stronger, and this was only the beginning. He looked forward to seeing the battles that would unfold as the Pokémon matured, making the competition even more exciting, and he knew it would be a challenge to predict the next champion.
