Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: Independently Taking a Mission

"Minato, you got the kunai! Quick, let me see your new move!" The moment she saw Minato, Kushina couldn't wait to see.

Minato took out a kunai and said to Kushina, "Stand still, don't move. Let me show you my Flying Thunder God Stage Two."

As he spoke, he threw the kunai towards Kushina.

Kushina was confused, but she didn't panic. Watching the kunai's trajectory, she knew it would ultimately fly over her head, not hit her.

"Swoosh!"

The kunai flew over Kushina's head.

But at the same time, Minato disappeared in a golden flash.

Then, Kushina felt someone holding her in their arms. Smelling the familiar scent, Kushina knew it was Minato who was holding her.

"This is the new Flying Thunder God Stage Two I came up with. It's no longer limited. I can leave the Flying Thunder God formula on these special kunai, and then, while the enemy isn't paying attention, hit them with a Rasengan."

After letting go of Kushina, Minato explained the principle of the Flying Thunder God Stage Two to Mikoto and Kushina.

"As expected of my Minato, you even improved the Flying Thunder God Technique." Her boyfriend was so outstanding; Kushina was, of course, very happy. She was currently looking at Minato like a fangirl.

Mikoto's beautiful eyes also sparkled, happy for Minato's genius idea.

"To celebrate the success of my Flying Thunder God Stage Two, let's call Shikaku, Nawaki, and Nagakaze and go to the Yakiniku restaurant to celebrate today." Minato's social circle currently only consisted of these few people.

"Okay, okay!" Hearing there was a party, Kushina jumped for joy. It wasn't that she was looking forward to the Yakiniku; she just enjoyed the fun of fighting with Chōza for meat. Deep down, ramen was her favorite food.

"I have no objection. I'll listen to Minato." The gentle Mikoto would never refuse Minato's suggestions.

"Let's go, let's go get them." They didn't split up, just went to find everyone one by one, finding Nagakaze last.

At the dinner table, Kushina and Chōza once again put on a show of devouring everything, making everyone laugh. Even Gekkō Nagakaze, the "deadpan" one, cracked a smile.

After a happy day of fun, everyone started training hard again.

Minato also felt it was time to take on missions again. Otherwise, just by training, when would his development points ever increase?

The next day, Minato gathered Mikoto and Nagakaze and went to the Hokage's office.

"Hokage-ojisan, I'm here to accept a mission. Give me a combat mission." Minato only wanted combat-type missions. He wouldn't accept escort missions or anything like that. Who knew if they would even encounter enemies on an escort mission.

If they didn't encounter any enemies, wouldn't that be a huge waste of time?

One had to know, normal escort missions were usually measured in months, especially B-rank and above. The minimum would probably be a month.

"Let me see... what missions are suitable for you." Sarutobi Hiruzen picked up a stack of mission scrolls and started searching. These were all missions within the Land of Fire.

"Here's one. A B-rank mission. A request sent from a village. It says some rogue ninja have gone to their village to plunder."

"It seems like they're being 'farmed'. The ninja come to extort the village every so often. Finally, someone managed to escape and posted this mission to us."

Sarutobi Hiruzen said, handing the mission scroll to Minato. Although the true rank wasn't confirmed.

But regardless of whether it was a B-rank or A-rank mission, Sarutobi Hiruzen was very confident in handing it to Minato. Because the opponents were rogue ninja, he wasn't worried at all that Minato couldn't beat them.

"OK, I'll take it. Then I'll be going, Hokage-ojisan." After taking the mission scroll and giving it a simple look, Minato left with Nagakaze and Mikoto.

"Hehe, this is the first time I'm independently accepting a mission. Are you two ready? If you're ready, we'll head out." Outside the Hokage's office, Minato waved the mission scroll.

"I've been ready. My long sword is thirsty," Nagakaze said coolly.

Minato's face darkened upon hearing this. I suspect you're making an innuendo, but I have no proof.

He handed a special kunai to Nagakaze, telling him to channel chakra into it if he was in danger. Minato didn't explain its function, but Nagakaze could more or less guess.

Minato decided to cultivate Nagakaze as a future subordinate. After all, he was a man who would become the Fourth Hokage; he couldn't have no one under him.

After getting along for so long, Minato felt Nagakaze was a good person, so he didn't want to lose this teammate to an accident.

Nagakaze was also a genius. An Elite Chūnin at 15 was very good. If he worked hard, he could reach Jōnin before he was 20.

"Thank you." Nagakaze accepted the kunai with a serious expression and thanked him earnestly.

He wasn't an idiot. Since Minato told him to channel chakra when in danger, it must be a life-saving item. Although he didn't know the specifics, the gesture truly moved Nagakaze.
