Chapter 9 - The Lie That Saved the White Wolf

At every moment Amara is near,

an ordinary young girl, quiet, powerless, without sacred blood—the visions surrounding Lorenzo dissolve into clouds. A mist that cannot be touched.

A shadow that cannot be followed.

This is not magic.

This is not a curse.

This is destiny.

For Amara is the girl etched into the heart of the last White Wolf. As long as she remains by Lorenzo's side, the eyes of those who see the future, even those like Salvador—are blinded.

A simple presence,

yet stronger than any power.

An ordinary human…

yet she is the pillar that supports the last bloodline of the White Wolf.

Scene: Noctaryn place – Inside the Old Aurelion Hut.

The night is silent.

Only the sound of wind passing through the broken walls can be heard. Inside the hut are Juanico and Emmanuel, while Abesamis perches on a wooden pillar—his eyes alert, his wings trembling slightly.

Juanico (low voice, serious):

"Something's wrong."

Emmanuel:

"You feel it too?"

Juanico nods.

Juanico:

"There's something strange about Ignacio. The way he looks at us lately… he's far too calm."

They were accustomed to Ignacio's hostility—his harsh treatment and cold stares—so Juanico immediately noticed the shift in the air.

Their attention turns to Abesamis.

Emmanuel:

"Abesamis! …It looks like someone saw you."

The parrot stiffens.

Abesamis:

"I didn't mean to—"

Juanico (cutting in, firm yet calm):

"We're not blaming you. But it's possible that news has already reached Ignacio!"

A brief silence falls.

Emmanuel:

"So listen carefully."

He steps closer to the bird.

Emmanuel:

"From now on, you must be cautious. You can no longer deliver messages to us freely. You need to hide."

Abesamis:

"If that's the case… what should we do?"

Juanico and Emmanuel exchange glances.

Juanico:

"Let Ignacio doubt—or believe false information."

Emmanuel:

"But we won't allow him to be certain."

Juanico (firmly):

"We will spread the rumor—

that the child with the blood of the White Wolf has fallen gravely ill."

Emmanuel:

"And died."

Abesamis' eyes widen.

Abesamis:

"But Lorenzo is still alive!"

Juanico:

"We know. And that is exactly why the enemy must believe he's gone."

Emmanuel:

"Suspicion is exhausting. Certainty… is deadly."

Slowly, Abesamis spreads his wings.

Abesamis:

"All that's needed is for the chosen one to remain with his light, so he may be protected from his enemies."

Juanico:

"What do you mean?"

Abesamis:

"There is also a girl destined to be his light for life. Her name is Amara. As long as the two remain close to each other, Lorenzo will not be easily found."

Juanico:

"But if they still discover the truth—"

Emmanuel:

"—that's when the true hunt for the life of the last destined White Wolf will begin."

The parrot nods silently.

Abesamis:

"Then… I shall fly again. But this time… as a shadow."

The parrot departs swiftly. Moments later, Emmanuel notices Rustan lingering outside the hut.

Emmanuel (suddenly shouting, startled):

"What?! That can't be possible—the last White Wolf child cannot disappear!"

Juanico is startled by Emmanuel's sudden outburst. Before he can respond, Emmanuel winks at him, and Juanico instantly understands.

Juanico (shouting as well, acting convincingly):

"But it's the truth! The last White Wolf child is dead—taken by a severe illness!"

Emmanuel (dramatically crying, acting as if all hope of escaping Noctaryn is lost):

"N–No! That's impossible! The destined child cannot be gone! We have no hope left…"

While subtly scanning the area outside, Emmanuel sees Rustan slowly walking away.

Emmanuel (whispering):

"Juanico, we must be extremely careful. There are eyes watching our every move."

Juanico:

"You're right! but I'm impressed by your acting huh hahaha."

The two share a quiet laugh.

In the distance, behind the withering trees surrounding Noctaryn, Rustan comes to a halt.

He stops—then slowly turns around.

Rustan (thinking, his gaze cold):

"So the White Wolf child is dead…"

A smile curls across his lips.

Rustan:

"A great news! Then I must tell Ignacio at once."

He vanishes into the darkness,

carrying a lie wrapped in suspicion.

At the same moment, far away from Noctaryn—a child suddenly clutches his chest.

The mark of a wolf's paw glows faintly, igniting against Lorenzo's skin.

And for the first time…

Lorenzo feels something.

Not a vision.

Not magic.

But a presence—slowly awakening.

To be continued…

Narrator's Note:

When the enemies learn that the last White Wolf is gone, will Lorenzo's life remain peaceful?

And how long can a life chosen by destin

y stay hidden? How long will the eyes of the enemy remain blind to the presence protecting Lorenzo—

the powerless girl named Amara, stronger than any vision?
