Chapter 243 - Psychic-type Pokémon

In the Black World —

When Ash defeated the opponent's fourth Pokémon,

the fiery light in Harrison's eyes dimmed slightly.

His idol had pinned him down and hammered him four times.

Throughout those four battles, he had felt somewhat helpless.

But he didn't back down.

Because Ash would never back down.

"It seems like I'm going to lose this match. But even so, I won't retreat."

"Because my idol is just like you."

Harrison shouted loudly.

If he weren't a man but a woman, Ash might have thought he was confessing his love.

At this moment, Harrison no longer hesitated and took out his fifth Pokémon.

With a flash of red light,

Alakazam appeared in the center of the arena.

As a Psychic-type Pokémon,

Alakazam's strength could be said to be extremely powerful.

The moment it appeared, it floated in the air, staring with burning eyes at the Charizard across from it.

"An Alakazam?"

Ash was also somewhat surprised.

Generally, few people could obtain this kind of Psychic-type Pokémon.

In other words, unless you were from a lineage of Psychics, it was still difficult for others to obtain such Pokémon.

But his opponent had actually managed to get one—Ash couldn't help but be a little surprised.

But that was all.

Ash didn't switch out his Charizard.

Instead, at this moment, he extended his left hand and pointed forward.

"Charizard, use Dragon Claw!"

As his words fell, Charizard rushed forward quickly.

Its speed had reached its limit.

Everyone only saw a flash of orange light, and then Charizard appeared before Alakazam.

The next moment, its dragon claws, shimmering with an eerie light, slashed forward.

With a whoosh, the claws attacked directly toward Alakazam.

Facing such an assault, Alakazam showed no fear.

"Alakazam, use Psychic to control it!"

Harrison's voice rang out.

Alakazam immediately unleashed its Psychic power.

The immense telekinetic force enveloped Charizard's body, lifting it into the air.

Charizard struggled to break free, but it was clear it couldn't escape in a short time.

"Don't be afraid, Charizard. Remember how I usually train you? Psychic control won't stop you."

"Use Flamethrower!"

Ash in the distance showed no surprise. He simply spoke calmly.

Ash's calmness naturally gave Charizard the confidence to remain calm.

Charizard slowly regained its composure, then fixed its gaze on Alakazam in the distance.

It no longer hesitated and spewed out a massive jet of flames.

Alakazam could indeed control Charizard with its mind and keep it airborne.

But it couldn't directly resist a Flamethrower attack.

"Alakazam, use Light Screen!"

As Harrison's words fell, a shimmering barrier appeared before Alakazam.

As the Flamethrower struck the Light Screen, it refracted and scattered. At that moment, Charizard broke free from Alakazam's Psychic grip and landed on the ground.

"Charizard, use Dragon Rage!"

Seeing that Charizard's fighting spirit had reached a certain peak, Ash commanded loudly.

The stronger the anger, the more powerful the attack. The power of Dragon Rage was enough to destroy most Pokémon.

Charizard unleashed a massive wave of Dragon Rage.

The terrifying light engulfed everything before it.

Facing such an attack, Harrison in the distance still showed no fear. He simply shouted,

"Alakazam, use Confuse Ray!"

As his words fell, Alakazam emitted a strange, pulsing light.

The next moment, the light struck Charizard in the distance, enveloping it in an eerie glow.

The light flickered.

Then, Charizard stumbled backward and fell to the ground. Alakazam floated serenely in mid-air.

"Alakazam, use Psyshock now!"

Harrison didn't hesitate at all, once again commanding a high-intensity attack.

To him, this scene was naturally different.

Everything had to be done at this moment.

Light began to flicker as a strange energy struck directly forward.

Psyshock—its invisible power fell upon Charizard's body.

Charizard's expression instantly contorted. The mental pressure made its eyes blaze with sharp pain and anger.

"Charizard, hold on! Use Fire Blast!"

Ash clenched his fists, staring at Charizard with scorching eyes as he shouted.

Hearing his words,

Charizard launched itself into the air.

Its eyes flickered. The next moment, a massive Fire Blast shot forward instantly.

A rumbling sound echoed as the entire air grew hot. Everyone in the audience felt the terrifying temperature.

With a thunderous boom,

the explosion struck the ground, blasting a massive crater.

Everyone's pupils contracted slightly.

All eyes followed the blast.

But Alakazam was floating in the air not far away.

Clearly, the previous attack hadn't hit it.

[Caitlin]: This Alakazam is inexplicably powerful.

[Cynthia]: Alakazam, as a Psychic-type, generally doesn't train its physical body. But it just dodged that attack at incredible speed. Obviously, this trainer named Harrison also trained his Alakazam using Ash's methods.

[Lance]: No wonder it could avoid the Fire Blast just now. But his Alakazam is somewhat unbalanced. Alakazam's greatest strength is its Psychic power.

[Lance]: Now he's trying to train its body. While it compensates for Alakazam's weaknesses, it also dilutes its core strength.

[Steven Stone]: You're right. This Alakazam has a natural advantage against some Pokémon, but it's at a natural disadvantage most of the time.

[Lorelei]: That said, we all know Alakazam's base strength isn't weak. Under these circumstances, Alakazam still won't be at a disadvantage. After all, you've seen its Psyshock and other moves—they're still very strong.

Everyone began discussing, all eyes fixed on the Black World.

They wanted to know what solution Ash would use against such a well-trained Psychic-type.

In the Black World —

The battle wasn't over yet.

Looking at the scene before him, Ash knew Charizard might still win, but the price it would pay wouldn't be small.

At this moment, he considered recalling Charizard.

But sensing Ash's thoughts, Charizard turned to look at him and slowly shook its head.

Seeing Charizard's expression, Ash instantly understood.

Charizard wanted to keep fighting.

This was Charizard's own choice. As a Fire-type, Charizard had always been renowned for its raw power.

In terms of frontal combat capability, few Pokémon of the same level could surpass Charizard.

In other words, Charizard could even be said to be most trainers' first choice to some extent.

After all, when you had a Charizard, you could somehow train it to the point where it could stand up to Legendary Pokémon.

Besides Ash, Leon was quite familiar with this phenomenon.

But few could actually achieve this.

At least in their eyes, everyone could see that was the case.

"Since you want to keep fighting, Charizard, let's work together!"

"Charizard, go! Use Dragon Rush!"

Ash in the distance shouted loudly.

He clenched his fist, holding the Key Stone in his hand.

But he didn't have Charizard Mega Evolve immediately.

Because he knew Charizard didn't need to evolve to defeat the opponent before it.

If Charizard used Mega Evolution to defeat this Alakazam,

the result would be the same for Ash, but for Charizard, the difference would be enormous.

Charizard didn't hesitate. It flew directly into the air, its eyes blazing with fiery light.

The next moment, strange power enveloped its wings as it dove forward.

"Alakazam, use Future Sight and Psycho Cut!"

Harrison's voice rang out again.

Alakazam used two techniques in succession.

It used Future Sight to predict where Charizard would attack.

It avoided that position while simultaneously slashing with Psycho Cut.

With a resounding boom,

Charizard was knocked back and fell to the ground.

Its Dragon Rush naturally missed Alakazam.

Shaking its head slowly, Charizard rose from the ground. The anger in its eyes had reached its limit.

In this battle, Charizard itself could feel it could win.

But because its opponent was a Psychic-type, the fighting style was slightly different.

This was why it hadn't won yet.

And this also made it feel extremely frustrated.

"Charizard, don't be angry. I'll make sure you win this battle next."

Ash in the distance smiled at that moment and spoke softly.

[Professor Oak]: How can Ash make Charizard win at this point?

[Flint]: I'm not sure either. With the moves Charizard has now, if it wants to defeat that Alakazam, it probably has to charge straight in.

[Steven Stone]: That kind of fighting style definitely isn't what Ash wants.

[Cynthia]: I feel like Black Ash should be able to use some special method to defeat that Alakazam, and Charizard will be transformed as well.
