"Wait… aren't we supposed to escape from this place?" Cindy asked.
"Not yet," Jaxon replied calmly. "This is a good opportunity."
He stepped closer to the edge of the rooftop and looked down at the infected gathering below.
"Come on. Think of this as practice. Work on your aim and take out as many infected as you can."
Na-rin quietly listened to his words, her thoughts slowly connecting the pieces.
He hadn't said it directly, but it was obvious. If Jaxon became stronger by killing infected… and now he was telling them to do the same…
Did that mean they could become stronger too?
The idea sounded impossible, yet Jaxon himself was proof that strange abilities could exist.
Na-rin glanced at him. Now she finally understood why he had chosen to work as a government runner.
Then another thought crossed her mind.
She was here with him… with his family… and he had just revealed a secret that clearly wasn't meant for everyone.
A faint warmth spread through her chest.
