Chapter 7: Hurting, Helpless and Hungry
Saoirse leaned her trembling body against the cold concrete wall, her head pressed lazily against it. Her eyes staring blankly at the crack concrete ceiling.
The air was thick with the scent of dirt and dampness, a raw mixture of earth and dirt that seeped into her skin. Her clothes clung to her, barely enough to shield her from the biting chill that gnawed at her bones. The ache in her neck pulsed painfully, and the red marks on her arms from the cuffs throbbed. Everything hurts all at once. That's when it finally dawned on her.
She was truly alone.
Not the system, nor any of the Gods, was coming to rescue her, they expect her to get away from it like she always had. For them, she was just a toy they happened to pick for their entertainment. If she failed, she'll get discarded like they did to thousand others.
