Chapter 62 - The Master Arrives

Flender had watched as Aosqin completed the absorption of the Flame Armor Shield. As for Tang San's condition, he had a rather clear expectation, so he temporarily put aside his worries and went to rest first.

Coen, who had run the entire night following behind Flender, now drooped his head weakly onto Aosqin's crossed legs as he sat on the cushion.

Enjoying Aosqin's tickling service while eating three consecutive hamburgers conjured for him by Aosqin, he soon fell into a deep sleep. He was truly exhausted.

At seven in the morning, the people inside the small hut still showed no signs of waking, but Tang San was the first to open his eyes.

Seeing Tang San wide awake, still with red eyes and about to dash outside without listening to any explanation—

Aosqin felt helpless to the point it was as vast as the Mediterranean Sea. He couldn't care about waking the resting crowd.

Aosqin quickly finished equipping his mecha; using the Flame God Cannon together with the Rapid-Fire Soul Tool Cannon, he restrained Tang San while calling out for Xiao Wu to hurry and come control Tang San.

Seeing Xiao Wu standing unharmed in front of him with his own eyes, Tang San didn't care about the eight spider legs behind him—or rather, up until this moment he hadn't even noticed the eight spider legs had appeared on him—and he rushed forward to hug Xiao Wu tightly.

From Aosqin's perspective, it looked as though Tang San was saying something, but he did not have Coen's hearing ability and could hear nothing at all.

It wasn't until five minutes later that the blood-red in Tang San's eyes finally faded, and he returned to rationality.

After Tang San, under Aosqin's guidance, gained basic control over the eight spider legs behind him and named them Eight Spider Lances, Flender and Zhao Wuji came together and scolded Tang San heavily.

A full half hour passed—Aosqin, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun had already finished preparing breakfast—before Flender and Zhao Wuji finally stopped.

Even then, Flender made Tang San promise repeatedly that there would never be a next time before he was willing to temporarily let Tang San off. But Zhao Wuji added that once they returned to Shrek Academy, both he and Flender would give Tang San heavy punishment.

It wasn't that Tang San shouldn't have gone to save Xiao Wu, but that he should not have rushed off alone without any intention of informing his teammates or teachers.

Not only did this delay Xiao Wu's optimal rescue time—

It also caused his teachers and classmates, who didn't know what had happened, to panic, making it impossible for them to take the most effective measures.

This was the real reason Flender and Zhao Wuji were angry. An irrational teammate drags the entire team into the abyss.

Eating the breakfast composed of oatmeal porridge and freshly made chewy flatbread wrapped with sauced soul-pig meat prepared by Aosqin and the others, Flender and Zhao Wuji finally had the mood to ask Xiao Wu about the entire process of what had happened and how she safely escaped.

After hearing Xiao Wu's full account, everyone silently felt deep relief.

A soul beast of the Titan Giant Ape's level wasn't something Flender and Zhao Wuji together could handle. If Xiao Wu hadn't been "lucky," she would have been done for.

Knowing that the Titan Giant Ape had actually wandered this far outward, Flender and Zhao Wuji became tense again. Quickly finishing breakfast, they didn't hesitate at all and immediately led everyone rushing out of the Star Dou Great Forest.

After leaving the forest, they didn't suggest that everyone return on their own. Instead, they used flight soul tools to pull everyone back to Shrek Academy at the fastest possible speed.

That night, looking at Shrek Academy's familiar training field, everyone felt a sense of joyful reunion after a long separation. It had only been three days, yet the prolonged tension made them extremely exhausted.

As usual, Flender announced a day off tomorrow so everyone could adjust their condition. Before Flender left, Aosqin handed him a rectangular recording soul tool.

"Dean, this contains the recording of all our activities after entering the Star Dou Great Forest. Since you and Teacher Zhao were far away, you definitely couldn't see our actions clearly.

If you have time, please take a look and help us find our mistakes and shortcomings,

so we don't make errors without realizing it."

"Mm, very good. I'll watch it and give you all a summary the day after tomorrow. You should also reflect on your performance on your way back.

Especially you, Tang San. When formal classes resume the day after tomorrow, I'll tell you your punishment assignments. Reflect properly."

Originally Flender was pleased by how prepared Aosqin was—yet as soon as he turned his head, he remembered Tang San's infuriating behavior, and his tone immediately became serious.

Tang San had no intention of resisting Flender's criticism, because Flender truly acted for his sake.

Thinking back on his behavior in the Star Dou Great Forest, Tang San himself was filled with regret.

If he had been rational—after Xiao Wu was taken by the Titan Giant Ape, if he had immediately contacted Flender for help, perhaps Flender might have made it in time to catch up.

Even if they couldn't snatch Xiao Wu from the Titan Giant Ape, they wouldn't have lost her whereabouts completely. That would have been far better than his irrational charge.

Although Xiao Wu felt uncomfortable watching Tang San being scolded like this, she also knew how serious Tang San's mistake was this time. Heavy punishment was necessary to make Tang San remember.

If this happened again, who could endure it?

For a team, Tang San's actions were even less forgivable than Ning Rongrong's behavior when she first enrolled.

After all, no matter how bad Ning Rongrong behaved, she only affected herself. Tang San had dragged the entire team into danger and suffering.

When Xiao Wu heard that Tang San had, without a word, chased after the Titan Giant Ape alone and then absorbed a spirit ring with absolutely no one protecting him, she truly felt like her heart was about to stop.

So after Tang San woke up, aside from comforting him at the very beginning, she didn't give him a good face the rest of the time, and stayed entirely with Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing.

After Flender left, Dai Mubai hesitated for a moment but still opened his mouth:

"A team of Shrek Academy can only accept those who sincerely acknowledge this team and are willing to give for the team.

After the past week and this trip into the Star Dou Great Forest, as the team captain, I am willing to formally accept Xiao Wu, Rongrong, and Zhuqing as members of the team.

From now on, we are partners who coordinate flawlessly. I, Dai Mubai, will keep my word.

At the same time, I guarantee that Oscar, Aosqin, Ma Hongjun, and I will never do anything to betray the team.

I also hope Xiao Wu, Rongrong, and Zhuqing can give us the same promise.

As for you, Tang San—honestly, your actions make it impossible for me to feel any sense of your recognition of the team.

Therefore, despite your strong strength, I cannot accept you as a team member right now.

If you truly wish to become one of us, prove it with your actions."

Hearing Dai Mubai's solemn speech, Oscar, Aosqin, and Ma Hongjun stood behind him without hesitation, expressing their recognition and support.

The new students did not expect Dai Mubai to suddenly speak so seriously and fell into brief silence.

But only for two or three seconds—Ning Rongrong was the first to step forward, showing her boldness and courage.

"I, Ning Rongrong, am not some ingrate who doesn't know good from bad.

Since everyone is willing to give me a chance to prove myself, regardless of my past, and has helped me grow without reservation to let me become part of the team,

then of course I will not do anything to betray the team. I will do everything I can to help. I am willing to join."

After Ning Rongrong, Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing expressed their willingness to become members of the Shrek Academy team.

Only Tang San remained silent until the girls finished speaking. Then he spoke with a serious expression:

"This time, my mistake was indeed very serious. I fully accept Mubai's words.

Like Rongrong, I will prove with my actions that I am worthy of becoming part of the team."

Tang San's words were resolute. The others also expressed that they would wait and see. Then everyone dispersed.

Except for Coen and Aosqin, no one seemed to notice that in the woods not far away stood a middle-aged man with a stiff expression, straight posture, and a somewhat dazed look.
