Turn 2
"[Horned Saurus]'s third effect activates! I can Normal Summon a Dinosaur or Dragon monster." Rex Raptor triggered another of [Horned Saurus]'s effects—Youmi didn't even know what its second one was. "I summon... yeah, this one! I summon a second [Gilasaurus]!"
Youmi thought, 'Is it too late to take back what I said earlier?'
Because of the Field Spell [Wasteland], both [Horned Saurus] and [Gilasaurus] gained 200 Attack, bringing them to 2200 and 1600, respectively.
How nice (monotone). Just 200 short of a perfect OTK. If instead of Fusion Summoning, he had just Normal Summoned [Hellkite Pterosaur] and Special Summoned two [Gilasaurus] using its effect, that would have been three 1400-ATK monsters attacking directly.
What kind of person makes such an unwise move? Was summoning a big monster that satisfying?
Maybe it was.
"[Horned Saurus], attack directly with 2200 Attack! It has an effect that lets it attack directly the turn it's Special Summoned—but since you have no cards on the field, that doesn't even matter! What a shame!" Admiring his Fusion Monster's form, Rex waved confidently and declared his attack.
For some reason, [Horned Saurus], now dark blue with fewer horns after Fusion, dove toward Youmi—only to slam straight into a decorative cylinder.
"So strong, really strong I activate my face-down card, [Magic Cylinder]! I negate [Horned Saurus]'s attack and deal damage equal to its Attack Points to you" Praising Rex's effort with casual grace, Youmi revealed her Trap without panic. It was only Rex Raptor, after all—no way she'd lose in a balanced world like this.
The cylinder fired with a boom, blasting [Horned Saurus]'s attack right back at Rex.
[Rex Raptor, LP: 4000 → 1800]
"[Magic Cylinder]?!" Rex shielded his face from the blinding flash, clicking his tongue in frustration. "Tch! Just a stalling card! [Gilasaurus], attack directly!"
[Gilasaurus] charged forward—only to crash headfirst into a massive gate. Two red claws extended from within, catching it mid-lunge.
"I activate my face-down card, [Counter Gate]! When an opponent's monster declares a direct attack, I negate that attack and draw one card. If the drawn card is a Monster, I can immediately Normal Summon it in Attack Position." Youmi wagged a finger, telling him not to rush, then drew a card. After checking it, she said, "I won't summon the monster."
When Youmi made no further move, Rex sighed in relief. "Huh... didn't draw one, huh? Fine. Main Phase 2, I Set one card and end my turn."
As he declared his turn's end, another of Youmi's face-downs flipped open.
"I activate [Dust Tornado]! I target your face-down card and destroy it."
Rex stared at the red Trap Card as if about to cough up blood. "Come on! That's what? Your third card out of five Sets?!"
He was starting to get it… this woman's entire strategy revolved around his turns.
Turn 3
"There are all kinds of Duelists in this world, my cannon-fodder friend." Youmi drew a card, then flipped another Set. "I activate [Reckless Greed]! I draw two cards, but I skip my next two Draw Phases."
After her early draw, still missing her key combo pieces, Youmi played a Spell. "I banish every card in my hand except this one to activate [Left Arm Offering]! I add one Spell Card from my Deck to my hand. The turn I activate this, I can't Set Spells or Traps. I add [Painful Choice] to my hand and activate it right away—pick one from these~"
The cards appeared enlarged in shimmering projections behind her:
[Monster Reborn]
[Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle]
[Injection Fairy Lily]
[Labrynth Archfiend]
[Raigeki]
All five effects were visible to Rex, who could take his pick after reading them. "Jeez, they all look dangerous! I'll pick [Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle]. Why does this card look exactly like you?"
"It doesn't matter what you pick," Youmi smiled, pressing a button on her Duel Disk. "Because the duel's already over. I activate my face-down Continuous Trap—[Call of the Haunted]! I target [Injection Fairy Lily] in my Graveyard and Special Summon her!"
The fairy who'd been dumped by [Painful Choice] clawed her way up from the earth, covered in dust. She brushed herself off and pulled out her massive syringe.
"You've seen her effect already, right? Shall we continue?" Youmi pointed at the text displayed on her Duel Disk, smiling.
"When this card battles, during damage calculation—you can pay 2000 LP; it gains 3000 Attack..." Rex muttered, glancing at his [Gilasaurus]. "Its base Attack is 400—add 3000, that's 3400... and my [Gilasaurus] only has 1600... Oh no!"
"And you've only got 1800 LP left. That means this duel's over. [Injection Fairy Lily], attack [Gilasaurus]!"
The winged white-garbed fairy flew forward, ignoring [Gilasaurus]'s frantic struggle, and plunged her syringe full of green liquid straight into it. At the same time, Youmi glowed faintly as her LP dropped to 2000 from the cost.
[Youmi, LP: 4000 → 2000]
[Injection Fairy Lily]'s limbs bulged with muscle as she became a hulking nurse, forcing every drop of glowing green fluid into [Gilasaurus]. Its skin turned an unhealthy shade of green before it lumbered toward Rex—and exploded with a cinematic blast worthy of a high-budget anime.
"Ending a duel sent off by a white-winged angel... that's a pretty blessed way to go~"
