Before long, with help from Bibi Dong and Long Kui, every herb around the Ice–Fire Yin Yang Well had been neatly harvested and collected by Xiao Se.
"Dong'er, I should've told you the origin of the Ice–Fire Yin Yang Well already," Xiao Se said gently.
"Mhm."
Bibi Dong nodded slightly, smiling softly.
"When two of the Nine Dragon Kings—the Water Dragon King and the Fire Dragon King—fell together, their bodies crashed into the Sunset Forest. Their corpses lie buried beneath this very Ice–Fire Yin Yang Well. The well was born from their combined essence, nourishing all the plants here."
Xiao Se's expression turned serious.
"I need to retrieve their soul bones—to save a friend."
"You need soul bones?"
Bibi Dong blinked in surprise. Then, with a wave of her slender jade hand, five powerful soul bones appeared before Xiao Se.
"This is…"
Xiao Se was stunned. He hadn't seen a real soul bone before, but even without comparison, these five far surpassed the one Tang San had ripped out of Tang Hao in the original story.
There was only one explanation:
These were all hundred-thousand-year soul bones.
Bibi Dong smiled beautifully.
"The seventh through ninth rings of my first martial soul, and all nine rings of my second martial soul, were obtained from soul beasts over one hundred thousand years old. For my second martial soul, the eighth ring was a seventy-thousand-year Evil-Eyed Tyrant Lord. The ninth ring was from the near-million-year Deep Sea Demon Whale King."
"My spirit bones are full now. Xue'er doesn't need them, and Na'er has already absorbed a hundred-thousand-year head bone. These five are simply leftovers."
"…You're really something."
Xiao Se let out a helpless laugh.
The Evil-Eyed Tyrant Lord was an absurdly terrifying spirit beast that didn't even appear until Douluo Dalu 2.
But Bibi Dong cultivated the Returning Soul Scripture—she naturally countered spiritual beasts. Killing it wasn't impossible.
But the Deep Sea Demon Whale King…
That thing was a walking natural disaster.
In the original story, Tang San would've died ten times over without protagonist armor + Shura God intervention.
For Bibi Dong to kill it alone…
Even Queen Medusa at Dou Ancestor rank wouldn't dare.
"All this is thanks to your teaching."
Bibi Dong tilted her head, her exquisite face blooming with bright joy.
In this moment, she wasn't the Pope—
she was just a girl happy from her beloved's praise.
Seeing her radiant smile, Xiao Se briefly lost focus and unconsciously raised a hand to caress her cheek.
Long Kui puffed up her cheeks beside them—clearly jealous.
"I'll just take these two," Xiao Se said after a moment, choosing the left arm and right arm bones—the redundant pair—before leaving the remaining three for Bibi Dong's disciples.
"The Douluo Continent needs soul bones more than I do."
"Mhm."
Bibi Dong accepted this without argument. Xiao Se wasn't taking them for himself but to save a friend.
Though she cared for Xiao Se more than anyone else, when it came to matters of life and death—
especially if the one in danger was a girl close to Xiao Se—
her heart still leaned toward the disciple she raised as her own daughter: Hu Liena.
That was her tiny sliver of selfishness.
Xiao Se stored the soul bones, signaled for Long Kui to return to the demon sword space, then coated himself in the Green Lotus Core Flame and leapt into the Ice–Fire Yin Yang Well.
Bibi Dong followed at his side.
Having consumed the Fiery Apricot and the Eight-Petal Ice Grass, and with her current strength, the well's extreme temperatures felt no different from an ordinary hot spring.
The soul-power veil around her body was simply to keep her clothing intact.
Inside the Ice–Fire Yin Yang Well
Xiao Se and Bibi Dong descended together through the crimson and milky-white waters.
"I never imagined the surface pool was only the tip of the iceberg. The world beneath is so vast…"
Xiao Se stared around at the immense, divided underwater domain.
"Xiao Se," Bibi Dong warned gently, "the Ice Dragon King and Fire Dragon King were god-level beings in life. Their souls might still linger. If danger arises, hide behind me immediately."
"Alright."
He didn't argue.
Her strength far surpassed even Dou Ancestor-tier Medusa. That was the clearest impression he had.
Two hours later, temperature changed drastically—
The red side grew blazing hot.
The white side became bone-freezing cold.
"Dong'er, we're close."
Xiao Se wiped nonexistent sweat from his forehead.
Whatever lay ahead was strong enough to make him feel genuine fear.
"Xiao Se, stay behind me."
Bibi Dong's brows knitted slightly as she moved ahead.
Moments later, a breathtaking sight filled their eyes.
At the bottom of the well lay two colossal dragon skeletons—
one crimson, one snowy white—
coiled together in a vast Tai Chi formation.
Each skeleton stretched over a kilometer in length, majestic and awe-inspiring.
From their skulls burned two flickering halos of light—like flames of pure essence—radiating intense cold and heat throughout the valley.
Even from afar, the sheer dragon might made the air tremble.
Even Bibi Dong, who had slain the Demon Whale King and the Evil-Eyed Tyrant Lord, lifted an eyebrow in astonishment.
"Brother, Sister Dong'er—look there!" Long Kui's voice rang out.
Both Xiao Se and Bibi Dong shifted their gazes.
Embedded within the left forelimb of the crimson dragon and the right forelimb of the white dragon were two flawless soul bones—
one gold-crimson, one gold-white—
shaped almost exactly like human arm bones, polished to crystal clarity, radiating terrifying pressure.
"Two seniors," Xiao Se called softly. "Please show yourselves."
He dared not simply take the soul bones.
Those weren't what he truly wanted anyway—
He was more interested in the twin flaming essences burning atop the dragons' skulls.
If the cold and hot origin flames could fuse…
they might form a strange fire not inferior to his Green Lotus Core Flame.
At his call, the two flames trembled.
A red light and a white light shot forth, crossing paths—
and then materialized into a man and a woman before them.
Their figures were translucent, unsteady, held together only from the waist up.
Their lower halves wavered like fading mist.
Just like Long Kui—
but even weaker.
