Chapter 93 - War of Apocalypse (Part 4)

"My king, the Continent known as Asia has been liberated." Hogun, one of the warriors three, informed calmly as he knelt before Loki upon the command barge of Asgards' forces. The barge itself a massive vessel that looked like a rainbow bridge frozen in time, with the crystal exterior glittering with the Odinforce and magic.

"Wonderful Hogun, next we will take this 'Russia' and 'Middle East'. Soon we can move towards our enemy's lair." Loki uttered with a look of satisfaction and nervousness.

"As you command my king." Hogun lowered his head further, waiting for a proper dismissal.

"Inform my sister that she is to take the Middle East whilst our forces take Russia. We will meet on the borders of Doom's lands... A country called Latveria. You may go." Loki commanded calmly before waving him off, his eyes gliding through the room until they reached the cloud-ridden skies of Midgard, where the battle barge of Asgard hung peacefully.

An instant after Hogun left the throne room of the barge a massive rainbow bridge slammed down onto the exterior balcony nearby, unveiling Heimdal in all of his golden glory. The guardian of the Bifrost looked as he normally did, enduring, powerful and unwaveringly confident.

"My king, your ally in the Americas has successfully conquered the southern continent and half of the norther continent... His forces are preparing upon the border of the Hydra faction." Heimdal said offhandedly whilst he walked towards the throne that Loki had been sitting upon for what felt like days now.

"Good. Drecarios has always been very efficient for a Midgardian. More than that, he's the only one that I have ever considered giving an apple of Idun to..." Loki mused as he reminisced on his memories of his best friend.

"A man of intriguing talents then... To garner your favour so much." Heimdal intoned seriously, his stance easing into a slightly more comfortable position with his hands held behind his back and his legs spread slightly apart.

"Mmm, he also has significant power. Perhaps he could even defeat me? A silly thought, I know, but his powers are kept secret from almost everyone. I believe he has only told Tony of his natural powers..." The god of trickery hummed in thought.

"A natural friend for the god of trickery, deceit, deception, secrets, fire, magic and giants... I would think." Heimdal airily commented, a small smirk creeping upon his face as his golden eyes turned distant for but a second before returning to normal.

"Yes, indeed." Loki shook his head and fully met Heimdall's gaze for the first time in the conversation. "What have you to report besides my ally's success my friend?"

Heimdal dropped the small emotion present on his face and returned to the emotionless mask he wore whilst on duty. "Drecarios has gone to add this Tony and the party beside him. They were struggling against an entire city's worth of foes and were being overrun."

The king of Asgard fixed his haggard position upon the throne, his legs sweeping off of the arm-rests and slapping against the floor.

"He showed his powers?" Loki asked anxiously.

"Yes my king. He treated Doom's forces as if they were wheat and he a scythe." Heimdal solemnly intoned.

"Curses! He wasn't supposed to show his powers this early... Imagine the countermeasures our enemy could now employ to counter him!" Loki angrily shouted out before slamming his hand on his throne and closing his eyes.

"I believe there was little choice my king. He sacrificed the element of surprise, true, but he also preserved some powerful allies who have a variety of powers that could help." Heimdal lectured softly, his voice echoing into the chamber with an authority not unlike Odin's own presence.

Loki took a breath and nodded.

"This is true... It could be worse. It just means we will need to be more careful in the future." The Asgardian king declared before rubbing the bridge of his nose.

"I am also here to inform you that Italy has been conquered alongside Austria. This Mara woman has carved a bloody path through the Alps towards Germany and hasn't taken a break for the last day or two." Heimdal stated casually.

"Very good news. Hopefully this conflict shall be over very soon... We have another mission after saving my family and the heroes of Midgard." Loki said with hope tinging his voice.

"We all hope for that result my king." Heimdal stated before staring out through the balcony at the open skies of Earth.

Snow drifted from the Alps like water cascading from a waterfall, the white substance coating everything much like oil. The wind blew the harsh, frigid, water into the face of Mara as she deflected another plasma bolt towards an enemy droid. The air and snow hissed with the temperature variance from the bolt before it immediately cooled once more and the sizzling of metal could vaguely be heard through the whistling winds of the alps.

`GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR`

Aegon's dragon bellowed ragefully from the skies as a plume of red-orange fire smothered the zenith of a distant mountain top. The dragon's form immediately disappeared into the thick snowfall in the sky, the grey-white haze swallowing the lumbering body whole.

At the same time Gandalf was stood behind Mara, his staff flowing powerfully as he commanded his magics and the weaving of reality to follow his command. "The Mountains quake in anticipation as the land moans at my being... Swallow all that is my foe!"  As he finished his chant the mountain before Ciri, Mara and himself started booming with movement as the snow slid off the craggy edifices as if they were slurry out of a drain pipe. Then with a mighty thunderous vibration the rocky foundation of the mountain moved upwards like a serpent, ensnaring hundreds of the Sentinel robots and dragging them into the depths of the earth, to become one with nature once more.

Ciri, ignoring the massive spectacles around her, vanished from the top of a nearby pine tree and emerged behind a Sentinel, her swords plunging into the connector unit that allowed all of its tentacles to function and move separately. Her eyes glowed a bright yellow for a moment as a wave of magical pressure washed over her and a blade of pure magic severed the monstrosity from top to bottom, the air exploding outwards in a pressure wave before she flickered behind another Sentinel a few metres away that had been targeting her with its plasma weapon.

The Sentinel attempted to turn but failed as she gathered the raw power of her elder blood and strangled the the very bonds that ensured this being maintained its structure. The result was a cacophony of dangerous pops and crackles that quickly turned into a conflagration as the internal components burnt to a crisp and reacted with the lithium inside, turning the bright orange flames a stark white.

"We're done here!" Mara shouted out powerfully as she poked her lightsaber through the head of one of the normal robots, her Magenta blade humming dangerously.

Vermithor dropped from the clouds and glided for a minute before circling back around and slamming into a clearing in the nearby forest, the dragon's head poking just above the tree line as if he were a prehistoric dinosaur returned back to life.

"We're riding the dragon again?" Ciri questioned with a frown marring her expression.

"I could try to summon my eagles..." Gandalf offered kindly though he looked reticent to ask his friends to come and aid him.

"No, we will use what we have. The eagles could be used in combat and the more we show now, the more our enemy can adapt to our powers and counter us." Mara smoothly interjected, as she disactivated her lightsaber and began jogging over to Vermithor.

Gandalf pulled out his pipe and lit a small fire on the end of his pinkie-finger, lighting the Tabak inside until he achieved an impressive puff. He slowly followed behind the motivated Jedi Master as if he were on a calm jaunt through the woods and not on a universe-saving mission. Ciri rolled her eyes at the Wizard's antics, sheathing her sword as she followed after the wizened old man.

Hermes smiled menacingly as the tanks shredded into another clump of sentinels, the piss poor attempts at defeating his brother's designs flailing as the crab-like tank droids spewed out electromagnetic interference in such quantities and in such a narrow beam that electrical equipment was simply imploding in puffs of smoke.

Apollo, whilst an annoyance to him, was a genius when it came to designs, art and creativity. Hermes knew that the only thing Doom could do in the face of him, his brothers, his sisters and their father was to run far away... This just confirmed that feeling ten fold.

The USA and South America had been liberated hours ago and now he was gathering the rest of the military to hunt down the remaining Sentinels and robots, pushing them towards the Canadian border in hopes of having Hydra enter into conflict with Doom.

"Brother, I just found an encoded transmission from Latveria that has ordered all Sentinels to self destruct near strategic targets. I've blocked the full command and have made them simply destroy themselves." Artemis appeared inside Hermes own quantum space like a Gremlin high on narcotics, her eyes gleaming in hunger and her mouth stretched into an eldritch grin that made Hermes worry for the future of humanity a bit.

"Good job?" He rhetorically asked as he tried his best not to do any damage to his sister's already damaged sense of normality and social interaction.

"Hehe, no problem. Ahem, anyway, you are free to take out Hydra now." She awkwardly coughed out before crawling back into a set of conjured vents and shifting away like an internet gremlin.

Hermes blinked several times before shaking his head and directing several divisions to ignore the previous orders to hunt down Doom's forces and focus on conquering Canada.

"Brother, the Stargate has been produced. I have dropped it off in New York. There is a Spider Man there that has allowed us to place it on top of the Stark Tower of this universe. He is quite adamant about helping us with Hydra. He says they have been trying to kidnap people whilst Doom created chaos." Hestia randomly projected into his domain before vanishing in but a moment.

He really liked Discordia and Hestia, they were the two most chill siblings of his... usually... Hestia did have the rather annoying trait of just expecting him and her siblings to just follow her implied orders. It had started when she watched some of Stargate Atlantis and watched Dr Weir command military personnel around... Ever since she had watched that entire series she had become a little annoying.

Hermes huffed before sending a command droid towards Stark Tower. New York hadn't needed saving and by the time they realised that America was being saved the job had already completed. This offer of aid was useful considering the plethora of powered people Spider Man had saved but Hermes trusted his father's robot army over humans since they didn't have a chance to defy his orders or go against them in the name of moral or political disagreements.

"Lil'bro, you need to check this out!" Apollo suddenly appeared, dropped information into his drop box and then faded out. His siblings were all gremlins, he swore.

He still watched it though. It was a video of his father absolutely wrecking hundreds of Sentinels as if they were trash mobs in an MMO. A grin slid across the messenger god's face as he watched his old man work together with Tony and the Mighty Nein to take Paris and France back... Oh, and there were new forces joining the network...

"Are you serious!? You're still creating more droids dad!!!???" His shock was quickly replaced by the small chuckle of his father's voice in the back of his quantum space before it disappeared and the video flickered, an entire division of FR1s marching in sync down several side streets, taking down errant robots, mutants and Sentinels as they went.

"This is going to be a breeze..." Hermes said cockily before a flash of warning blitzed into his circuits. "Oh fuck..."

~~~
"Hmm, your queen takes my knight. An interesting play." Doom muttered. "You will come to regret that move." He moved his bishop to threaten the queen as a pulse of red light echoed through the room and quickly spread across the planet, spearing towards one person in particular.
Luke smiled as he walked through the shredded gates of Buckingham palace. The timeline was slowing down its variations and all of the version now were, interesting. Unfortunately he couldn't rely on his vision of the future since one of the infinity stones was based around time... But the images still brought him a measure of comfort.
"Now it's time to get a hold of this book." He spoke aloud to himself as he climbed over a few metal car wrecks.
