Chapter 5 - Chapter 5-Combat part 2.

Lux nodded, looking directly at the staircase, then turned his gaze back to me and said in a relaxed tone, "What if we set a trap?"

Kōri and I nodded, thinking of a plausible trap...

I pointed to the side of the hallway where several wooden sticks were piled up. As I approached them, I exclaimed, "Find more glass and rope!"

Ouch...

As I touched the sticks, several splinters pierced my hand...

I gathered all the sticks and threw them down the middle of the hallway...

Lux and Kōri returned with what I asked for...

I took a stick and carved it with glass, and repeated the process with two other sticks. I stuck a piece of glass into the stick I was holding and tied it, an action I repeated two more times.

They were glass spears...

Lux and Kōri each took one...

With our new weapons, we slowly climbed the stairs, aiming our spears upwards.

Upon reaching the third floor, I quickly ordered them to crouch...

We didn't know the terrain or where our targets were...

I looked carefully at the hallway. I didn't know what time it was, but I guessed it was 1 a.m.

Rose must be very worried...

We walked slowly, each step coldly calculated to avoid falling into a trap...

An intense smell of blood filled our nostrils...

We saw someone's blood still fresh on the ground; it was still red, which meant it was still fresh.

My mouth watered at the sight of the fresh blood on the floor. My eyes flicked to the right, revealing a person's body.

I approached the body just to see how he'd been killed...

I saw some purple stains on his body, which means he'd been beaten to death.

But... where did the blood come from?

Turn his body so that I can look at the back of his body, with a slow and steady movement...

On his back was some kind of rusty rod... they stuck it right in his liver, they seemed to know what they were doing.

Crash!

At the end of the corridor, maybe in the last rooms, a kind of vase fell and broke on the floor, echoing throughout the room...

Quickly look for the room where the sound came from...

My old, dirty shoes stepped in the blood, leaving a trail of it as I walked.

We gripped our weapons tightly as we, walked towards the room where the noise had come from... My body felt something my mind couldn't...

We stood in front of the door, Kōri grabbed the doorknob...

"Don't open that door," my voice sounded frightened, almost desperate.

Kōri stopped dead in her tracks, as if someone had flipped a switch inside her. Lux stopped too and turned to look at me.

"It's a damn trap!," I said, gesturing to the room before continuing in a low voice: "They're in another room. Because after beating someone to death, your hands should be covered in blood; look at the doorknob, it's bloodless. No one's in that room... it's a trap."

Kōri and Lux looked at me, surprised by my quick conclusion.

Kōri turned around and looked at me with distrust or suspicion... She glanced at the last room, room 30.

"I think my intuition tells me that's where the bastards are hiding."

Lux also turned around, her expression fixed on room 30. The three of us approached that room.

I slowly opened the door...

The figures of three men appeared behind the door...

One lunged at me...

My body, already exhausted and numb, almost collapsed to the floor, but I managed to withstand the fatigue.

I dodged his blow by throwing myself to the ground...

The three seemed to be trained. Lux and Kōri were also fighting, but they seemed to be at a disadvantage.

I took the two shards of glass from my belt and threw them at my enemy's feet.

The shards embedded themselves in his thighs, immobilizing him for a few seconds. Without wasting a moment, I plunged my spear into his chest.

He died in agony...

Bang!

Lux's body crashed to the ground, crashing through the wooden floorboards and landing on the second floor.

Kōri managed to kill his enemy, but he was wounded.

Pow!

I managed to block the blow from the guy in front of me. He was strong and smart enough to cheat.

A flurry of punches and kicks rained down on me.

A kick to the stomach sent me flying backward. My body rolled across the floor...

The guy approached quickly, like a whirlwind...

I grabbed the revolver and pointed it at his head...

Bang!

The shot echoed through the room... that bastard almost dodged it, but it hit him in the arm.

Not wasting the opportunity, I aimed for his head...

Bang!

The bullet passed completely through his head, blood flew and landed on my face...

"Congratulations... you passed the test."
