Chapter 21 - Lazy Everyday Life

"--Kun! Jirei-kun, it's time to wake up!"

"No, let me sleep again," I mumbled, burrowing deeper into the blanket, eyelids sealed shut.

"Wake me in three hours..."

"Jirei-kun, you said that yesterday and never got up! It's noon, lunch is ready!" Shar shook me harder.

"--Huh... Shar... you think shaking will work? I have the protection of 'Sleep' and with no training and laziness, It has evolved! Now this shaking, it's like a cradle, I'm getting sleepier...!!"

"--What? The protection evolved to 'Eternal Sleep'—?!"

"Don't fool me, get up! I came home on break and made lunch just for you!"

She grabbed my shoulders and rocked me like a boat in a storm.

"Okay, okay... I'll get up, stop, I'm gonna puke..."

I peeked out, dizzy, and before I could finish, Shar squealed, "You're awake!" and launched herself onto me.

I stared up at her, she had long flowing red hair, ruby eyes sparkling, and long elf ears twitching, skin glowing despite five centuries of age.

Her chin-length bob bounced with a cute bunny clip in the bangs, fluffy and perfect.

But one thing bugged me...

"--Ji, Jirei-kun... what?"

Shar blushed, squirming under my gaze.

I sat up slowly, still pinned under her, and grabbed her shoulders.

"Shar."

"Huh?" She closed her eyes, lips puckered, "I'm happy, but... doing this in the daytime? I need to prepare...!" She closed her eyes and puckered her lips.

I blinked. "What are you doing?"

"You're the one lying down here, so be kind—huh?"

I gently pushed her off and stood.

Shar's face went nuclear red, hands flying to cover it, head bowed low.

"Jirei-kun always does things that make girls misunderstand!!" she huffed, trembling.

Then she puffed her cheeks, "I'm angry!"

Not scary at all, looked like a furious squirrel.

"Hehe, I understand," I said.

"Hey!" *BANG*, she swatted my arm.

She calls me "kun" because she's older, way older, even if she cried like a kid when we met.

I'm never mentioning her age again, learned that the hard way, no lunch is pure torture.

"I've prepared food over here!"

Shar grabbed my sleeve and tugged me along.

I let her pull, stomach already growling, heart racing with anticipation for whatever masterpiece waited.
