By the time Lock returned home, night had already fallen.
He twisted the key in the lock and pushed open the door.
Click—thump.
The familiar sound echoed through the small apartment, and almost immediately, a figure appeared at the entrance.
"Welcome home, Master," said Virgo, bowing neatly at a perfect ninety degrees.
Lock froze for a moment, caught off guard.
How long had it been since someone had waited at home just to greet him?
He smiled softly. "Yeah… I'm back."
Virgo moved with quiet grace, placing his slippers neatly in front of him.
If he'd still been wearing his coat, she probably would've taken it off for him and hung it up, too.
The perfect maid, he thought with a chuckle.
Then she tilted her head and said, completely straight-faced,
"Then, Master… would you like to eat first, take a bath first, or… eat me first?"
"—!"
Lock's hand immediately landed on her pink hair, ruffling it roughly. "Where did you even learn that line!?"
"Online," she answered without hesitation.
Lock sighed, half laughing, half exasperated. "I told you to research this world, not… that kind of stuff."
She blinked innocently. "Then will Master punish me?"
He gave her a look.
Virgo raised one hand to her lips and added matter-of-factly,
"When I searched for 'maid duties,' those phrases came up."
Lock pressed a hand to his forehead. "...Right. Internet search results. Should've seen that coming."
He sat down on the couch, gesturing for her to do the same.
"Alright, enough of that. Have you learned to cook yet?"
Virgo nodded. "Yes."
"Then you can handle dinner tonight."
"Understood, Master."
She turned and glided off toward the kitchen.
Lock leaned back, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
Virgo was adapting quickly. He'd have to start letting her experience the city soon—
grocery stores, shopping districts, markets.
And she'd need her own phone, too.
Sure, their contract link allowed for telepathic communication, but a phone would help her connect with others when she started working.
Because once his Hero agency launched, Virgo wouldn't just be his maid—
She'd be his receptionist, his office assistant, and quite possibly the face of his entire firm.
His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of his phone buzzing.
Jingle, jingle!
He looked at the caller ID. "Aunt Ryūko?"
He answered. "Hey, Aunt Ryūko. What's up?"
A cheerful hum came from the other side. "Xiao Zhe~ I've got some good news for you."
"Let me guess," Lock said immediately. "The Hero license results?"
A pause. Then a sigh.
"…Can't you at least pretend to be surprised?" Ryūko said, sounding half-amused, half-defeated. "Yes, you passed. You'll get the official notice the day after tomorrow. Head to the Dogu Arena to collect your license."
Lock grinned. "Knew it."
Ryūko chuckled softly but then added, "Oh—and before I forget, you'll need to think of your Hero name. Send it to me by email so I can register it."
That made him blink.
"Hero name, huh…"
In this world, every Pro Hero operated under one.
Some used their real names, but most chose names that reflected their power, their ideals—
or their identity.
All Might was the perfect example.
Few even remembered that his real name was Toshinori Yagi.
Before Lock could reply, a voice called from the kitchen.
"Master, dinner is ready!"
"Huh!?" came Ryūko's sharp voice from the phone. "Was that—did I just hear a girl?!"
Lock froze. "Eh—uh, you must've misheard, Aunt Ryūko! No one's here but me!"
Virgo tilted her head from the doorway. Lock shot her a frantic shh! Gesture before continuing, "Anyway, I'll send you my Hero name later! Gotta go!"
He hung up fast.
Meanwhile, in her apartment back in Musutafu, Ryūko Tatsuma—Pro Hero Ryukyu—narrowed her eyes.
A faint aura of dragon energy rippled off her as her tail flicked once.
Misheard? she thought, unamused. Not likely.
Especially not that one word: "Master."
Her brow twitched.
Is my nephew, HiGesturegirll, in his house?
...Golden house, secret mistress?
Her thoughts spiraled as she let out a long, knowing sigh.
Lock exhaled in relief, setting the phone down on the table.
"Phew… that was close."
He leaned back, thoughtful again.
The Hero's name—he hadn't considered that part yet.
Most students decided on their path during Hero internships.
But since he wasn't in UA's Hero Course, he'd never needed one before.
His "Quirk," as far as the world knew, was magic.
But what name could capture that? The legacy he carried from Fairy Tail, reborn in this world?
A faint smile crossed his lips.
"Magic, from Fairy Tail… and the heart of a Hero from My Hero Academia."
He whispered the word, testing their Sorcerer."
His eyes gleamed faintly with determination.
"That'll be my Hero name."
