Hello readers! To ensure you have the best experience and prevent confusion, here's a quick guide to the story's formatting and some things to note as you read.
"Dialogue in regular quotes" = Normal spoken words.
Dialogue in just italics and no quotes = Alexander's internal monologue, mostly referring to Crimson.
"Dialogue in italics and quotes" = Crimson in Alexander's head.
'Dialogue in italics and one quote' Internal monologue for supporting characters.
# Soldiers are commoners who failed their Awakening. Rangers are those who Awakened but with a soul potential typically below that of the higher ranks and noble bloodlines.
# The world is divided into factions, each god from the Rule of Five controlling theirs. But some are off the map and have no godly rulers, their hierarchy is based on echelon. The strong rules over the weak.
# Kingdom Hierarchy
Royalty: King/Queen -> Prince/Princess
High Nobility: Duke/Duchess
Officials & Military: Noble Advisors -> Captain -> General -> Executioner -> Baron/Baroness -> High Guard
Awakened & Commoners: Rangers -> Guards/Soldiers -> Townspeople
Note: Not all kingdoms have the rank of Baron.
Rangers and guards may be referred to as
defenders.
I also use italics for words I want to emphasize.
