The Amethyst Winged Lion King returned to its lair only to find devastation — the Purple Spirit Crystal was gone, the Amethyst Lion Birth Essence vanished, and its only cub was now being seared by the flames of that damned human.
Its scarlet beast eyes blazed with madness. Every breath exuded killing intent that could shatter mountains. Seeing its child writhing in agony, the Lion King let out a furious roar that shook the cavern.
"Let go of my child! Do that, and I might grant you a chance to live!"
Before the colossal beast that blocked the entire tunnel entrance, Liu Xi stood motionless. The oppressive aura of a 6th Rank Magical Beast weighed heavily on his body, yet his gaze remained cold. He pressed his hand upon the struggling cub and spoke with chilling calm.
"Amethyst Winged Lion King, you've ruled the Magic Beast Mountain Range for years. You should recognize the flame in my hand… shouldn't you?"
The beast froze. For an instant, reason pierced through the haze of rage. It looked carefully at the quiet azure flame burning upon Liu Xi's palm—its pupils shrank sharply.
Even with its fire-attribute body, the Lion King could feel a suffocating heat emanating from that tranquil blaze, a heat so pure it could erase existence itself.
"You…" The beast's deep voice quivered with disbelief. "You possess… a Heavenly Flame!"
Liu Xi's lips curved slightly. "Since you understand what it is, then you should know I wield enough power to seriously injure you. And this child—surely it's precious to you?"
At that, the lion's fury reignited. Violet fire surged from the spiral horn upon its brow, flaring higher with each ragged breath.
"Despicable human! What do you intend to do to my child?!"
"Nothing more than a little compensation," Liu Xi replied coldly. "By tempering its body with my Heavenly Flame, your child's bloodline will be enhanced. In the future, breaking through to a 7th Rank Magical Beast will be effortless. Otherwise… do you really think I lack the means to escape alive?"
Though his tone was calm, his words only deepened the beast's rage.
"Vile human! You stole my Purple Spirit Crystal, my Amethyst Lion Birth Essence, and now you dare use my own child against me?!"
Its massive claws tore at the ground in agitation. The mountain trembled beneath its wrath, dust cascading from the ceiling. If not for the cub in Liu Xi's hand, the Lion King would have attacked without hesitation.
"Silence," Liu Xi snapped. "If you want your child to survive the tempering, then keep still. Withdraw your killing intent. Should I flinch and the Heavenly Flame waver—your child will burn to ash."
The beast's crimson eyes burned with hatred, yet it hesitated. A low growl rumbled deep in its chest before the murderous aura finally receded.
"If my child is harmed, even slightly," it hissed, "I will tear you apart—flame or no flame!"
Liu Xi did not answer. Half his Spiritual Power guarded against sudden attack; the other half monitored the process of the Heavenly Flame's tempering.
Fortunately, the Amethyst Winged Lion King was itself a fire-type beast. Under Liu Xi's careful control, the Heavenly Flame did not consume the cub. Instead, its innate violet fire fused and strengthened, purified into a higher form.
An hour passed.
Liu Xi finally withdrew the azure flame from the cub's body. The small lion lay limp and exhausted in his grasp, its once-violent aura now faint but stable.
The Lion King's voice trembled as it stepped forward. "My child… it's unharmed, isn't it? Release it now!"
Liu Xi's expression revealed a trace of fatigue, but his eyes still gleamed with caution. "Do you take me for a fool? Clear a path. Once I leave this mountain… I'll return your cub."
The Lion King's aura surged once again, waves of killing intent crashing against the cavern walls.
"You dare go too far!"
Liu Xi's expression remained unchanged. His hand rested gently on the cub's head.
"You have no choice."
The cavern fell silent except for the lion's ragged breathing. For the sake of its child, the Amethyst Winged Lion King finally yielded. Its enormous body slowly retreated from the tunnel mouth, though its murderous gaze never left Liu Xi.
Only when the beast stepped back did Liu Xi advance, holding the cub firmly. In this narrow, suffocating tunnel, had the Lion King unleashed even a single column of flame, not even Liu Xi's Heavenly Flame protection could have completely saved him.
Step by step, they moved through the winding passage. The faint glimmer of sunlight finally appeared ahead.
Breaking free from the shadows, Liu Xi spread his Dou Qi wings and soared into the open air.
Below, the enraged Lion King bellowed, "Now! Return my child!"
Having escaped the crushing pressure of the mountain, Liu Xi felt the tension drain from his body. He looked down at the beast with a faint smile.
"Rest easy, Lion King. Liu Xi is no oath-breaker."
As he spoke, he tossed the cub gently through the air. The little creature fell safely into its mother's grasp.
By the time the Lion King looked up again, Liu Xi's figure had already dissolved into the horizon, leaving nothing but drifting wind.
The Lion King's roar tore through the mountains. "Find him! Spread my command to every Magical Beast—hunt that human who harmed my son! Dead or alive!"
Its fury shook the range like an earthquake. Peaks cracked, boulders split, and beasts across the depths stirred to life beneath its wrath. But the human they sought—Liu Xi—was already long gone, free and unseen.
Now that his life was no longer in danger, Liu Xi did not hurry to leave. Since he was already deep within the Magic Beast Mountain Range, he took his time exploring, collecting rare herbs that grew only in these forbidden lands.
Half a month passed in peaceful harvesting before Liu Xi finally departed—his satchel brimming with precious finds.
