Stepping out from the grand gates of the Cape Auction House, Liu Xi unfolded a thin Dou Qi barrier to part the sea of people crowding the streets, leading Xiao Yixian and Zi Yan away from Cape City.
A faintly amused smile lingered on his lips — with his powerful Spiritual Power, those who were trailing them had no hope of escaping his perception.
"Let's go."
Moments later, at the very place where they had previously stopped, a dozen or so figures appeared, cloaked in black and masked, their auras sharp.
"They ran," one of the masked men growled.
"Then keep chasing! That's a Mid Level Di Class Dou Technique — its power rivals even a High Level Di Class one! It's something only the top sects can possess!" another rasped in a thin, greedy voice.
"Hmph, you think we can handle a group like that? If someone wants to go, I'll follow. But if you're waiting for me to go first — forget it."
The moment he finished, that black-clad man turned and vanished back into the forest, triggering the rest to waver. Within seconds, several more broke off and disappeared as well.
A temporary alliance was never built to last. With Liu Xi's trail lost, the group quickly disbanded, leaving only seven men unwilling to give up.
"Chase them. We'll wait for the right moment," the shrill-voiced one urged.
"That's right."
"Agreed."
All of them bore the same desperate gleam in their eyes.
At that moment, a calm, warm voice drifted through the air.
"I gave you a chance. But advice can't save those courting death."
"Who's there?! Come out!"
The remaining assassins spun around in panic, scanning their surroundings. Suddenly, the void before them rippled like water — Liu Xi stepped out, his expression serene. Beside him floated Xiao Yixian, her face emotionless, and Zi Yan, who crossed her arms, watching with amusement.
"Three Dou Huangs and four Dou Wangs… Central Plains truly is remarkable. Such powerhouses everywhere." Liu Xi's tone was casual. "Xian'er, take care of them. We can't have rats trailing us forever."
"W-We were just passing by— No, wait—!"
But their pleas died on their lips as Xiao Yixian raised a pale hand. A swirl of gray-black mist formed around her, her violet-gray eyes cold as frost. Compassion held no place in her heart for scheming stalkers.
"Thousand Phantom Poison Spring!"
Before her, the miasma condensed into a churning black spring. With a sudden hiss, seven dark streams of liquid erupted skyward, slicing through the air. Wherever the streams brushed, space itself corroded, leaving trails of dissolving mist.
"Ah—!"
Four of the black-robed Dou Wangs managed only a few seconds before their Dou Qi shields were eaten away, their bodies engulfed by the venomous tide. Even the three Dou Huangs couldn't last long — the matured Woeful Poison Body was not something an ordinary Dou Huang could withstand.
Gray-black poison flooded their veins, blackening their skin and twisting their faces into grotesque masks before all life drained away.
Liu Xi flickered forward, gazing down at their lifeless, bulging eyes. A casual wave of his hand summoned a wisp of Heavenly Flame, reducing the corpses to ash while claiming their Storage Rings.
"Zi Yan," he said with a smile, "that spatial concealment technique of yours is truly exquisite."
Zi Yan tilted her head proudly. "Hehe, of course! You're talking to the mighty me, after all!" Her amethyst eyes sparkled like gems, full of self-satisfaction.
Turning to Xiao Yixian, who was retracting her poisonous mist as she descended lightly through the air, Liu Xi said, "No time to waste. Let's head southwest — our first stop in the Central Region will be Tian Kui City."
"Alright."
With that, the trio turned into streaks of light, vanishing toward the horizon.
As they sped through the skies, Liu Xi suddenly frowned. His Spiritual Power spread outward for dozens of kilometers. "Hm?"
"Young Master, what's happening? Is someone fighting nearby?" Xiao Yixian asked, sensing faint tremors in the space ahead.
"It's probably those two — Xie Yuan and Su Bo — and the pack of idiots trying to snatch that Zong Breaking Pill. Tsk… all this chaos for one little pill."
He shook his head, chuckling. A Zong Breaking Pill meant nothing to him; he could refine one any time he wished. He had no desire to meddle in their petty feud — his destination lay thousands of kilometers away in Tian Kui City, and he had no time to waste.
Seven days later—
A torrential rainstorm delayed their journey, forcing them to spend seven full days before finally arriving at the bustling Tian Kui City — a metropolis no less grand than Cape City, thanks to the Wormhole hub at its center.
After half a day of rest, Liu Xi purchased three more Beast Flames, then joined Zi Yan on the famed food street, indulging from one end to the other.
He even bought Xiao Yixian a delicate white bracelet inlaid with three 4th Rank ice-attribute Monster Cores, known to calm the mind and soothe the spirit.
Once they'd eaten and shopped their fill, the trio entered the Wormhole, boarding a Level Four Space Boat.
On the deck, Xiao Yixian wore her new bracelet. A thin veil of mist circled her, her silver hair cascading like silk, her pale robes flowing gently. Her ethereal beauty radiated a calm grace — like an immortal descending from the heavens.
Liu Xi folded his arms, studying her with satisfaction. "Beautiful. That bracelet was worth every coin."
A soft blush rose on Xiao Yixian's cheeks, though she met his gaze with a faint smile. She made no attempt to hide — a woman dressed herself to please the one she cared for.
Nearby, Zi Yan rubbed her round belly, stuffed full of local delicacies, and pouted. "Big Brother's biased! You buy Sister Xian'er pretty jewelry, and all I get is food!"
Liu Xi laughed. "What you need isn't jewelry, Zi Yan — it's growth. You've got to develop properly first."
Zi Yan rolled her eyes, grumbling, "Just wait till I finish refining the Body Transformation Grass. Once I hit the… wave surge mode, you'll both be shocked!"
Liu Xi chuckled. "Haha, then work hard. I'll be waiting to see it!"
Stepping forward, he pressed his palm onto the Dou Qi input node. The vessel shuddered once, then shot through the void like a lightning bolt.
"Let's go," he said, smiling faintly. "Our journey to the Central Region begins."
