The border of the Beast Region.
Above the vast, ancient forests stretching endlessly beyond sight, the void rippled like waves before collapsing inward — tearing open a pitch-black rift. Within it churned terrifying spatial turbulence that devoured light itself.
A flash of silhouettes appeared as four figures emerged from the rift. Once they had stepped through, the dark fissure slowly began to heal, leaving behind only the faint distortion of disturbed space.
"So this is the Beast Region…"
Liu Xi gazed ahead. Everywhere his eyes landed, the horizon was drowned in an ocean of emerald green — a primeval land untouched by civilization. Powerful auras pulsed freely through the air as mighty beasts soared above the forest canopy, each staking claim over its mountain range. In this land, strength ruled — and the beasts made sure all knew it.
"This is the Beast Region's border," Yao Tianhuo said solemnly. "The deeper regions are home to countless powerful beasts. Among them, the Ancient Void Dragon Tribe, Heaven Demon Phoenix Tribe, and Nine Serene Deep Ground Python Tribe reign supreme. Beneath them are countless subordinate clans. If you disturb the wrong nest, even I may not be able to protect you. Take care not to act rashly, little friend."
Liu Xi smiled faintly. "Elder Yao, you know me — I'm not the reckless type. We're only here to help Zi Yan find her kin, not to stir trouble. Zi Yan, now that we're here, can you sense any connection to your bloodline?"
Zi Yan's violet eyes shimmered faintly with spiritual light. Tilting her head, she gazed up at the sky, blinking once before replying, "The sensation within the Beast Region is faint… but in the Void, it's much clearer. I can even sense several distinct but similar bloodlines."
"The Void?" Xiao Yixian and Yao Tianhuo both looked shocked. Even a Dou Zun couldn't linger safely in the Void; losing one's way there meant eternal exile.
Liu Xi narrowed his eyes slightly. Several bloodline signals… the four branches of the divided Dragon Islands.
He asked calmly, "Can you tell which of them is strongest or closest?"
Zi Yan nodded. "Yes. The bloodline divides into four directions. Three of them are strong and similar — they should be close kin."
Liu Xi's eyes brightened. 'Then the three strongest must be the northern, western, and southern Dragon Kings — the ones who split the Ancient Dragon Tribe and each sought to become the new Dragon Emperor.'
His tone hardened. "We'll go toward the weakest signal first. We can't alert the other three factions. Elder Yao, we'll need your help again."
Though puzzled, no one argued. Yao Tianhuo gave a wry smile and sighed. "Little friend, are you certain? The Void is far more dangerous than even the Beast Region's depths. There, as long as we avoid the great clans, survival is possible — but the Void is another matter. Even a peak Dou Zun or a Dou Saint risks never returning."
Liu Xi turned toward Zi Yan, his voice gentle. "I trust Zi Yan can find the way — and lead us back safely."
He looked to Yao Tianhuo and smiled. "Elder Yao, consider this your last promise to me. You've already shaken Ice River Valley — help us once more by taking us into the Void."
Yao Tianhuo glanced between Liu Xi's calm gaze and Zi Yan's earnest eyes, then sighed, stroking his beard with a faint, helpless smile. "You're too polite, little friend. After everything we've endured together, do you think a few promises bind me? The Void it is — let's go."
He lifted a hand from within his sleeve, gathering boundless Dou Qi in his palm before striking the air ahead.
Boom!
The void collapsed under his might, tearing open a yawning abyss that seemed to lead into eternity. This was no simple portal between lands — it was an entrance into the Void itself.
"Let's move."
Without hesitation, Yao Tianhuo stepped into the rift first. Waves of spatial energy crashed around him, but his flames forced open a path wide enough for others to follow.
Liu Xi exchanged a reassuring smile with Xiao Yixian, then took Zi Yan by the hand and followed him in.
Xiao Yixian lingered for a heartbeat before slipping in after them, guarding the rear carefully.
Within the rift, the storm of chaotic space howled like thunder outside a thin, silver corridor. Yao Tianhuo and Xiao Yixian together held open this delicate passage — serene within, but surrounded by raging destruction.
Zi Yan, entrusted with their course, focused all her senses. Her eyes glowed with violet light as she tracked the faint call of blood through the Void, choosing paths where spatial turbulence was weakest.
Time passed in tense silence. Occasionally, colossal storms of space roared past, grazing their silver corridor. Each time, the air trembled, forcing their bodies taut with vigilance.
For Yao Tianhuo and Xiao Yixian, the danger was manageable. But for Liu Xi, a Dou Zong, and Zi Yan, merely a Dou Huang, the pressure of the Void could crush them in an instant.
At last, after what felt like an eternity, a deep, thunderous roar broke through the endless darkness.
"Who dares intrude upon this place?!"
The group halted instantly. Xiao Yixian stepped in front of Liu Xi and Zi Yan, while Yao Tianhuo's eyes hardened, his aura flaring as he peered into the darkness.
"We mean no harm," he said calmly. "We'll leave immediately—"
"Wait!" The voice interrupted, now tinged with surprise — and then, unmistakable joy. "This presence…!"
Two enormous violet eyes snapped open within the darkness, gleaming with ancient majesty. They locked onto Zi Yan, blazing with recognition.
Yao Tianhuo's Dou Qi surged as he raised his hand, his tone icy. "Don't push your luck, stranger. We'll leave if you wish — but if you want a fight, this old man won't back down!"
Whoosh!
Violent space storms rose all around them. From the depths of the void, a colossal black dragon emerged — its body so vast that it vanished into the horizon.
The dragon ignored Yao Tianhuo's threat, its eyes fixed on Zi Yan as it dove closer. Its form began to shrink mid-flight, shrinking rapidly until, moments later, a towering, iron-built man stood a hundred meters away, muscles taut and glistening like tempered steel.
Each heavy step he took shook the air. His burning eyes never left Zi Yan's figure, brimming with excitement, reverence, and disbelief.
Yao Tianhuo was just about to strike when Liu Xi's voice rang out.
"Elder Yao, wait — let me handle this."
He stepped forward, gently guiding Zi Yan alongside him while staying behind Yao Tianhuo's protection. Bowing slightly toward the stranger, Liu Xi spoke evenly.
"Senior, we come with no ill intent. We're here only to help my sister find her kin."
The man stopped before them — nearly two meters tall, built like a mountain, his presence fierce yet unrestrained. His rough, square face was split by an earnest, trembling smile. His massive hands rubbed together nervously, unsure where to rest, while his gaze burned with emotion as it lingered on Zi Yan.
"My… no — I am Hei Qing," he said, voice thick with awe. "And you… you carry the blood of my Ancient Void Dragon Tribe. Welcome home!"
