After swallowing a small portion of the gel, Liu Xi felt a warm current bloom in his mouth before surging through his body. The refined energy spread rapidly into his meridians, transforming into pure Dou Qi that coursed through every vein and muscle.
He could tell instantly—this attempt was a complete success. The gel, infused with the medicinal essence of the Green Lotus Platform, was even purer than the Fire Bead itself.
His mood lifted. With excitement coursing through him, Liu Xi activated his Qi Method at full strength, swiftly refining all the energy contained in that small piece of gel. In just a few breaths, his Dou Qi had grown denser, more vigorous than before.
Exhaling a stream of impure air, Liu Xi opened his bright, spirited eyes. "With this gel," he murmured, a faint grin tugging at his lips, "I'll definitely reach the Nine Turn Dou Zun realm."
He clenched his fist, feeling the power surging within him. "If I conserve my supply properly, I can refine all the Fire Beads into gel and then break through to Nine Turn Dou Zun in one single burst!"
Once a cultivator reached the Dou Zun realm, every advancement became exponentially more difficult—each Star requiring multiple times the effort. Now, with this precious gel, Liu Xi finally had the means to shatter that barrier.
He had more than enough materials for the task. Over six days of continuous work, he refined two Half Saint Fire Beads and all of his Dou Zun Fire Beads into gel. The medicinal liquid derived from the Green Lotus Platform was completely consumed in the process. That faithful treasure, which had accompanied him for so long, had finally served its last purpose in aiding his advancement.
With the gel, ample time, and a secure environment, Liu Xi entered full seclusion—immersing himself in relentless cultivation.
Each day he consumed a portion of gel and sank into meditation. Fueled by the concentrated energy, his Dou Qi soared. After just three months, he stepped into the 8-Star Dou Zun realm. His Dou Qi had been tempered repeatedly by Heavenly Flames and refined techniques, leaving it perfectly condensed and utterly stable.
During this time, he emerged from seclusion only once—to meet Hei Qing. Zi Yan and Qing Lin were still in their respective closed-door cultivations, likely deep in their breakthroughs.
When Hei Qing saw him, his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. "You… you're already at 8-Star Dou Zun?! In just three months?"
Liu Xi merely smiled faintly and said nothing. 'If this shocks him, what will his face look like when I reach Nine Turn Dou Zun?'
With nothing else to distract him, he returned to his cave and resumed his rhythm—consume gel, cultivate, repeat.
Six more months passed quietly.
One day, Liu Xi exhaled deeply and slowly opened his eyes. His aura rippled through the cavern like surging tides.
"Peak 9-Star Dou Zun…" he muttered, sensing the immense ocean of energy flowing within. "It feels complete—flawless even. But I still can't touch that last barrier… the threshold to Nine Turn Dou Zun. This step before the Dou Saint realm truly isn't easy."
He frowned slightly. Ordinary cultivation alone wouldn't bring about the insight he needed. It was time to seek external assistance—something powerful enough to ignite transformation.
His gaze sharpened. "If I'm to use my strongest resources, it should be the Dou Saint's remains…"
With a wave of his hand, he summoned a set of crystalline bones that gleamed like jade—the Dou Saint's skeleton he had obtained from the Dou Saint's Relic. The soul remnant within had long been laid to rest, thanks to him.
Sweeping his Spiritual Perception across the bones, Liu Xi quickly noticed three ribs that emitted a faint, otherworldly glow.
"Senior," he said softly, "your legacy will not be forgotten. I'll see your Dou Techniques carried forward."
Reaching out, he gripped the glowing ribs and pulled. To his surprise, they did not break.
"Truly… worthy of a Dou Saint's body."
Liu Xi inhaled deeply, then spread his stance, channeling the dragon blood within him. Raw, boundless power erupted from his core, making the very air tremble.
"Ha!"
Crack!
The three ribs snapped free. Liu Xi set them aside carefully—these would be reserved for studying the Tian Class Dou Technique later. His attention turned back to the rest of the skeleton.
A Dou Saint's body was the embodiment of perfection. Every bone, every fragment carried divine essence. Even a single shard could serve as a priceless treasure.
He waved his hand, summoning a surge of azure flame—the Green Lotus Core Flame. The fire enveloped the crystalline skeleton, and the cave's temperature soared instantly.
Despite the searing heat, the Dou Saint's bones didn't melt; they didn't even tremble. But Liu Xi was patient. He had time, and more importantly, resolve. Closing his eyes, he waited.
Three hours later, the bones finally succumbed. The skeleton dissolved completely within the azure flames, leaving behind nine milky-white orbs that floated gently like sacred pearls.
Opening his eyes, Liu Xi raised his hand and swept away the remaining ashes with a breeze.
"Dust to dust, ashes to ashes. Senior, rest in peace."
His voice was calm, yet respectful.
Collecting the nine white orbs—the crystallized essence of a Dou Saint's marrow—he studied them intently. This was pure Saint energy, the final refinement of a being who once commanded heaven and earth.
"If an ordinary person were to consume even one," Liu Xi murmured, "they'd be reborn as a prodigy. For me… with all nine, I should have a ninety percent chance of reaching Nine Turn Dou Zun."
Still, he couldn't help feeling a trace of discomfort. These pearls had come from a corpse, after all. Even knowing they'd been purified by Heavenly Flame, the thought unsettled him.
He sighed softly. "No room for squeamishness now. Zi Yan has the Dragon Phoenix Origin Fruit to reach Dou Saint… and I have this."
Without further hesitation, Liu Xi took one of the marrow pearls and placed it into his mouth. A rush of warm, radiant energy flooded his body, spreading through his limbs and bones.
Instantly, he focused his mind, forming cultivation seals as his Qi Method began to run at full force.
Wave after wave of powerful energy surged through him like crashing tides. Liu Xi guided it with precision, refining it through his meridians, condensing the raw force into his Dou Qi vortex.
His Dou Qi, already near its peak, climbed even higher. When it reached the limit, a mysterious, transcendent feeling arose in his heart—an enlightenment that lifted his mind into a deeper state of cultivation.
In a haze of clarity, fragments of his life flashed before him—his youth, his struggles, his triumphs—all leading to this moment. Then, like the shedding of an old skin, transformation began.
From deep within, every cell, every drop of blood, every bone and sinew underwent a fundamental change. Flesh, bones, and spirit united in a single, radiant evolution.
A metamorphosis—from mortal to Saint—had begun.
And this… was only the first of nine.
Nine Turns of the Dou Zun—each a rebirth on the road to ascension.
He smiled faintly. "One down… eight to go."
