Chapter 644 - Chapter 642: Passage Between Heaven and Earth

Central Plains — Azure Lotus Territory, Azure Lotus City.

Even though the city was vast enough to house over a million people comfortably, today it was more crowded than ever. Every street was overflowing, and even beyond the walls, countless people had gathered like a boundless sea. Sect disciples, rogue cultivators, hidden masters — all had converged here for one reason only: to witness the ascension of the final Dou Di of the Dou Qi Continent, the Azure Lotus Emperor — Liu Xi.

A Dou Di was a being of supreme reverence. On this continent, such a person could decide the fate of the world with a single word. The proof lay before their eyes — the Heavenly Alliance's influence blanketed all of the Central Plains, and even beyond its borders, it continued to expand.

Though Liu Xi had not crushed the other sects, and they still retained autonomy, none could deny that a colossal power now loomed above them. The days of reckless freedom were gone. Gone were the times when one could kill and plunder at will; now, even oppressing the weak was impossible without being watched by the Alliance's enforcers — cultivators who could slay wrongdoers, earn merit, and exchange that merit for techniques, resources, or pills.

Rumors even said that with enough merit, one could obtain Tian Class Dou Techniques, Qi Methods from the ancient clans, or even 9th Tier Pills.

In the heart of Azure Lotus City stood an enormous square, dominated by a thousand-zhang-tall statue of Liu Xi himself. His black hair was carved as if flowing in an eternal wind, his robe rippling freely — embodying grace, strength, and transcendence.

The square was divided into sections, each reserved for major factions. To have a place here was proof of renown across the entire Central Plains. Before the statue, at the grandest seats of honor, sat the continent's greatest powers — those qualified to witness the Dou Di's farewell up close.

The blazing sun poured heat upon the land, yet no one stirred. The crowd's passion burned hotter still. All eyes waited, all hearts trembled in reverence.

Then, suddenly, a wave of cheers erupted like thunder. Countless eyes turned upward — at some point, a solitary figure had appeared atop the statue's head.

Liu Xi stood there, clad in azure robes, a calm smile on his lips. He had just returned from the Ancient Wasteland Region, the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree safely stored within his inner space. His gaze swept across the countless faces below, lingering briefly on the guest seats where his family, his teacher Xuan Hao, and his loved ones sat — pride and sorrow interwoven in their expressions.

Though they were proud of him, parting across worlds was a wound deeper than distance itself. None could know if they would ever meet again.

Among the crowd stood the women closest to him — Xiao Yixian, Zi Yan, Qing Lin, and Yun Yun — their eyes filled with silent longing and love, yet none tried to hold him back. They had long since vowed to chase his path, no matter how high it stretched.

Under Liu Xi's personal guidance, Zi Yan had reached 7-Star Dou Saint; Xiao Yixian and Qing Lin were 6-Star Dou Saints; even Yun Yun, once the weakest, had now broken through to Dou Saint. The treasures gained from the battle against Hun Tiandi — including the Blood Lotus Seed and countless fortuitous encounters — had all been used to elevate them. Once fully absorbed, all four would likely reach 9-Star Dou Saint in time.

Many familiar faces were present — his father-in-law Zhu Kun and the powerful members of the Ancient Void Dragon Tribe, the Pill Tower Ancestor, countless alchemists, and even the new heads of the Gu, Lei, Yan, and Yao families, including Gu Xun'er herself. Their expressions were complex; the fall of the ancient clans had little to do with Liu Xi directly, yet everything about it was tied to his shadow.

"How unfortunate," murmured Yao Ling softly, her tone laced with faint melancholy. "If I could've given him a child, perhaps the Yao bloodline could rise once more."

Her words drew uneasy glances from Gu Xun'er and Huo Zhi, both silently lost in thought.

Liu Xi exhaled slowly, releasing all remaining attachments from his heart. He had reached the end of this path — there was no turning back. The arrow had already left the bowstring.

'I'll return one day,' he thought quietly. 'The Dou Qi Continent will not be forgotten.'

Raising his voice, his words echoed like thunder:

"In ancient times, Dou Di powerhouses walked this land like stars in the sky. Yet now, they have vanished without trace. Today, I shall break the shackles of heaven and earth — and return the world to that golden age of cultivation!"

As his words fell, Liu Xi released all restraint. The overwhelming aura of a Dou Di surged across the land, engulfing heaven and earth. From 9-Star Dou Saints like Zhu Kun to mere Dou Wangs and Dou Huangs, all felt a crushing pressure descend upon them.

The crowd trembled, hearts pounding, realizing once more what it meant to stand before a Dou Di — a true supreme of heaven and earth.

Liu Xi rose higher and higher into the sky, his power rippling through the nine heavens. The atmosphere strained under his presence, the very fabric of space bulging upward as if unable to contain him.

Lines of light and ancient runes began to form in the firmament, weaving together like chains across the sky. But under Liu Xi's aura, they cracked and dissolved into countless fragments of light — vanishing completely.

Then, in the heavens above, brilliance erupted. A colossal pillar of radiance descended, enveloping Liu Xi's body. Within that pillar, a vast passage between heaven and earth slowly unfolded, leading to an unknown realm beyond.

Liu Xi's heart stirred with understanding. That passage led to the Great Thousand World — a realm vast enough to contain true power. The Dou Qi Continent could no longer hold him; only there could a Dou Di roam freely.

From the passage poured waves of pure, transcendent energy — higher in quality than any Dou Qi of this world. On the Dou Qi Continent, such energy had only one name: Origin Qi.

A Dou Di was like a god here precisely because his power stemmed from Origin Qi — a force that transcended the world's limits.

As the Origin Qi spilled downward, Azure Lotus City erupted in cheers. The energy washed over the crowd like divine rain, dissolving bottlenecks that had trapped cultivators for decades.

Even Zhu Kun's body trembled, his long-stagnant cultivation stirring once more — the faint sign of a coming breakthrough. For the first time in millennia, there was hope for another Dou Di.

High above, Liu Xi looked upon the flowing Origin Qi, an idea forming in his mind. With a flick of his hand, blue flames bloomed, forming a massive Azure Lotus that spread across thousands of miles, rotating slowly like a celestial vortex.

The lotus drew in vast streams of Origin Qi, absorbing endlessly while letting only a fraction scatter to the world below. And still unsatisfied, Liu Xi unleashed a greater suction force, drawing Origin Qi from the Great Thousand World itself — milking it to the very limit.

Only when the world's rejection reached its peak did he finally retract the Azure Lotus with a reluctant smile.

Before departing, Liu Xi turned his gaze back toward the land and waved his hand, releasing nine azure lotus seeds that drifted down like stars. Each contained enough Origin Qi to help a 9-Star Dou Saint step into the Dou Di realm.

They would take centuries — even millennia — to absorb, but for future generations, these were nine chances to ascend beyond the heavens.

Having done all he could, Liu Xi no longer looked back. His figure stepped boldly into the radiant passage. As he disappeared, the portal began to close, sealing the link between worlds.

Yet the flow of Origin Qi did not cease. Streams of it continued to seep into the Dou Qi Continent, ensuring that one day, it too would flourish again — entering a new golden age of cultivation.
