As the words, "despicable commoner," rang out, the mockery in the sharp gazes around them grew more playful. With the first person speaking up, the others naturally stopped holding back.
"I can't feel any magic at all... Why does the Wizard King favor such a vulgar fellow? Conquering the Magic Palace was probably just luck."
"What an unsightly way to eat..."
"It's strange that they're even here, isn't it? You've come to the wrong place, you stinking rats."
Asta devoured the food on the table. "Wow, this tastes pretty good. What are those guys over there making such a fuss about? 'No magic?!' Are they talking about me?"
"Huh? That muscle-brained idiot is only just realizing it now?"
Noelle and Mimosa looked at Asta in shock. It seemed he hadn't noticed the strange looks directed at them from the very beginning.
Asta chewed his food, muttering to himself, "Hmm, it looks like I'm being scolded pretty badly. Oh well, I'm used to it anyway."
"What is this? It's so delicious, it tastes almost as good as what Bai En makes..."
Klaus was dumbfounded. Although he was a guy from the countryside, he had... such great composure. If it were him... he would definitely have been too embarrassed to stay.
Leopold Vermillion, who had just been awarded the title of Second Class Intermediate Magic Knight, walked towards Alkedra Sandra, a member of the Golden Dawn who had been the first to mock them. He was a tall, middle-aged man with light green hair.
"With all due respect, Mr. Alkedra, if you're talking about commoners, doesn't your squad have one too?"
Alkedra snorted, glancing at Yuno. "That one with the four-leaf grimoire is also an over-praised, arrogant commoner!"
"Hmph, I didn't expect the Magic Palace mission to be given to your Golden Dawn. If I had taken it, I would have done much better."
"You're very confident, aren't you... you Crimson brat. Anyway, we don't expect anything from such commoners. Only we can embody the ideals of Vangeance's Golden Dawn!"
"Oh my, everyone's got it all wrong, haven't they? The most useless thing, the thing that's in the wrong place, should be her, shouldn't it?" A man draped in a Silver Eagles cloak emerged from the crowd, his silver hair partially obscuring his eyes.
His gaze fell on the person beside Asta. "Am I right, Noelle? You, who can't even manage the most basic magic control, are an unprecedented disgrace!"
A soft, yet piercing, laugh echoed simultaneously. "You've practically been abandoned by the Silva family, and yet you still have the nerve to come back!"
"Brother Solid... Sister Nebula..."
"Just because you succeeded once, you've become overly excited and purposely come here to tarnish the Silva family's reputation?" Nozel Silva, the captain of the Silver Eagles, sharply stated, "This place isn't for you. Get out, you useless trash!"
Noelle, having been belittled repeatedly by her brother and sister, lowered her head. The pride of a royal, which she usually maintained, vanished at that moment. She turned and walked out, a pitiful and lonely figure.
Their paths crossed, and Asta grabbed Noelle's hand, pulling her to a stop.
"Noelle, you don't need to run away from these guys!"
"...Asta..."
"Because we were summoned here, I thought everyone would be impressive characters." Asta jumped onto the dining table, looking down coldly at those who had been mocking them. "In the end, what makes you people any different from anyone else?!"
"I don't care if it's suitable or not, just you watch, I will definitely..."
"Presumptuous, you rude person." Alkedra pulled out his grimoire and cast a spell, interrupting Asta. "Sand Restraint Magic: Sand Box."
Quicksand, formed from magic, flew out of the grimoire, instantly enveloping Asta. A sand sphere appeared on the dining table. "That's enough. Someone like you doesn't even have the right to speak... Shut your mouth!"
Before his words had even finished, several flashes of light passed over the quicksand. The magically formed sand completely dissipated in the next moment. A grimoire emitting a dark red glow hovered in the air, and Asta, holding his demon-slayer sword, roared loudly towards the front: "I won't shut up!!"
"Listen to me, you bastards! I will accumulate achievements, become the Wizard King, and then make all of you shut your mouths!"
...Rill stood in a corner, quietly eating the food on his plate. "Things aren't looking good. A fight has broken out... The Wizard King? Asta is quite interesting, haha..."
"Bai En, aren't you two from the same place? Aren't you going to help him?"
"Help?" Bai En spat out a grape seed. "Why should I help? I don't think he needs help. Besides, if he can't even handle this, how can he become the Wizard King he talks about?"
"Is that so... indeed."
In their line of sight, Asta had a brief skirmish with the two members of the Silver Eagles. Then, a terrifyingly cold chill permeated the room. The large French windows and tables began to tremble. Nozel, the captain of the Silver Eagles, had made his move.
"It feels like things are about to get out of control," Rill murmured softly.
The icy pressure, accompanied by crisp footsteps, became increasingly suffocating. The braid tied at his forehead swayed slightly, revealing Nozel's stern face. He slowly spoke, "You commoner who defies royalty... How should I deal with you?"
"That's enough! Silva family."
"Aren't you ashamed to lay hands on a mere boy?" Fuegoleon Vermillion, the captain of the Crimson Lion Kings Squad, walked in front of Asta, shielding him from the icy pressure. "They are people Julius allowed to be here—"
"Wouldn't it be nice to give even commoners a little recognition?"
"I didn't expect someone of royal blood to say such a thing. The Vermillions have become benevolent." Nozel did not back down in the slightest, taking another step forward and confronting Fuegoleon. "Do you want the eagles soaring in the sky to acknowledge the crawling insects on the ground?"
Their magic rose, and a fiery red lion and a silver eagle almost solidified into physical forms under the immense magic. The already trembling tables and windows developed tiny cracks.
The wind pressure caused cold sweat to break out on the foreheads of the remaining people present.
"How... how terrifying is this clash of magic?!"
Rill looked at the gradually escalating situation in the room, and at Charlotte Roselei, the captain of the Blue Rose Knights, who remained motionless to the side. He put down his plate and walked forward.
'Oh my, the atmosphere is quite heavy. Things can't continue to get out of control. Now it's just me... I'll have to try and mediate a bit. What should I do?'
'I've got it!'
"Captain Nozel, Captain Fuegoleon, please look here!" Rill propped up his hair with his hand, making a wry face. "Hey, hey! I am Captain Yami of the Black Bulls! You bastards, do you want to be scolded by Boss Julius? Be careful, your pay might be docked!"
...At the Black Bulls base, Yami Sukehiro, who was pushing his limits in the restroom with a newspaper, suddenly sneezed. "Hachoo!"
"What's going on? Did Boss Julius catch me not going to the Royal Capital today? Well, I couldn't help it, I overslept. The coachman disappeared after dropping off Asta and the others. It's not like I can fly to the Royal Capital, right?"
"Eh... I might have caught a cold. Anyway, as long as I don't find out someone's talking bad about me, otherwise, I'll cut them."
