Chapter 32 - Little Garden - 5

"GABABABABABA!"

"GEGYAGYAGYAGYA!"

The laughter of the giants was a physical force, rattling the teeth of the Straw Hat crew. Dorry and Brogy stood tall—colossally tall—wiping tears of mirth from their eyes.

"Join your crew?" Brogy rumbled, looking down at the tiny rubber man. "Little one, you have spirit! We have been stuck here for a century because of a duel. To leave... we would need a reason greater than the duel itself."

Dorry grinned, his teeth like tombstones. "We are warriors of Elbaf! We follow strength! We follow glory! You want us to sail under your flag? Then prove your flag is heavier than our pride!"

Brogy slammed his axe into the ground. "A fight! Two against two! You and one of your warriors against us! If you can put our backs to the dirt... we will follow you to the end of the world!"

Luffy's grin matched theirs. He cracked his knuckles, the sound like popping corn compared to the giants' movements. "Shishishi! You're on! I love a fight!"

He turned to his crew. "Who wants in?"

"I'll do it," Zoro said instantly, stepping forward, his hand already on Wado Ichimonji. His eyes burned with the desire to test his new training against the real thing.

"Not if I get there first, Moss-head," Sanji growled, extinguishing his cigarette. "I need to kick something large to forget the trauma of the last twenty-four hours."

"STOP!" Nami shrieked, throwing her arms out. "Are you all insane?! Look at the size of them! One stomp and we're paste! We can't fight mountains!"

"Nami's right!" Usopp added, hiding behind her. "This is a bad idea! Let's just... play a board game! Or a riddle contest!"

"I'll do it," a calm voice cut through the panic.

Ben stepped forward, adjusting the cuffs of his black coat. He looked fresh, his recent Super Soldier Serum injection giving him a dangerous vitality.

"Ben?" Zoro frowned. "You're a wizard. You sure you want to get in a brawl with these guys?"

"You two had your fun," Ben said, glancing at the swordsman and the cook. "Zoro, you took down a hundred bounty hunters and fought Hatchan in Arlong. Sanji, you too, fought one of the Arlong Commanders. I've been dealing with cannon fodder and logistics. I need to stretch my legs."

He looked at the Giants, his blue eyes gleaming. "Besides... I have the perfect counter-strategy. Let me handle the logistics of the fight. Luffy handles the punch."

Zoro stared at him for a moment, then grunted, stepping back. "Fine. Don't die."

Sanji lit a new cigarette. "Try not to destroy the island, Wizard."

Luffy bounced over to Ben. "Awesome! Me and Ben! We're gonna win!"

Ben nodded. "We wait for the signal."

The jungle went silent. The birds stopped singing. The dinosaurs stopped roaring. All eyes turned to the central volcano.

Minutes ticked by. The tension was thick enough to cut with a knife.

KRA-KOOOOOOOOOOM!

The volcano erupted. A pillar of ash shot into the sky.

"NOW!" Brogy roared, raising his axe.

"COME, LITTLE HUMANS!" Dorry bellowed, raising his sword.

They charged. Two mountains of muscle and steel descending to crush the ants.

Nami screamed. Usopp covered his eyes.

Ben didn't move. He simply raised his right hand, his palm glowing with a vibrant, neon-green light. He tapped into the Brandish μ template, channeling the mass-manipulation magic.

"Command T: Reduce."

The magic didn't shoot out as a beam; it pulsed as a wave, washing over the charging giants instantly.

VWOOOOOM.

The sound was like air being sucked out of a room.

The colossal forms of Dorry and Brogy... shrank.

Sixty feet became fifty. Thirty. Twenty. Ten.

They stopped shrinking when they hit eight feet.

They stumbled, their momentum thrown off by the sudden change in scale. They skidded to a halt, looking at their hands, then at each other. They were still huge compared to a normal human, broad and muscular, but they were no longer walking natural disasters.

The crew's jaws dropped.

"He... he shrunk them?" Usopp whispered. "He turned the monsters into... slightly smaller monsters?"

Robin, leaning against a tree, adjusted her glasses. Her cool mask slipped, revealing genuine shock. "Mass manipulation? Without touching them?"

Dorry and Brogy stared at each other. They poked each other.

Then, they did the only thing Elbaf warriors would do.

"GABABABABABA!"

"GEGYAGYAGYAGYA!"

"LOOK AT YOU, BROGY! YOU'RE A DWARF!"

"LOOK AT YOURSELF, DORRY! YOU'RE A PEANUT!"

They found it hysterical.

"Interesting magic, Wizard!" Brogy boomed, his voice still deep but lacking the tectonic rumble. "You brought us down to your size! Fair play! But do not think this makes us weak! An Elbaf warrior's strength comes from his spirit, not his height!"

"That's what I'm counting on," Ben grinned, drawing the Elder Wand. "Luffy! You take the Red One! I've got Blue!"

"SHISHISHI! GOT IT!"

---

The fight exploded.

Luffy launched himself at Brogy. Even at eight feet, Brogy was a tank. He swung his axe—now the size of a large cleaver—with blinding speed.

"TERRY SWORD!"

Luffy dodged, the blade slicing the air where his head had been a millisecond before.

"Gomu Gomu no... Pistol!"

Luffy's fist connected with Brogy's shield. CLANG! The sound was like a bell being struck. Brogy didn't budge. He shoved the shield forward, sending Luffy tumbling back.

"Strong!" Luffy laughed, flipping to his feet. "Gear Second!"

Steam began to rise from his skin. He vanished.

JET PISTOL!

A blur of impact. Brogy grunted, sliding back a foot. "Fast little flea!"

Meanwhile, Ben faced Dorry.

The Blue Ogre swung his longsword. It was a masterful strike, honed by a century of repetition.

Ben didn't dodge. He raised his wand.

"Protego Duo."

A shimmering, multi-layered shield of blue light materialised. The sword slammed into it, sparks flying. The shield held, but Ben felt the impact in his teeth. Super Soldier Serum or not, blocking a giant is heavy work.

"Nice swing," Ben noted.

He flicked his wand. "Oppugno!"

The rocks around Dorry's feet suddenly animated. They sprouted limbs and launched themselves at the giant like angry stone badgers.

Dorry laughed, stomping them into dust. "Tricks! Show me power!"

"Power? Okay."

Ben analysed Dorry's stance, his centre of gravity, and the strength of the ground.

He tapped into Momo's Creation.

From his left hand, he rapidly synthesized a canister of flash-freeze coolant.

He tossed it.

"Depulso!"

The canister shot forward, impacting Dorry's sword hilt. It shattered. Liquid nitrogen coated the giant's hand and the hilt.

"COLD!" Dorry roared, his grip loosening.

Ben moved. He didn't cast a spell. He sprinted.

Thanks to the Serum, he moved faster than a normal human eye could track. He closed the distance, ducked under a wild swing, and delivered an uppercut to Dorry's gut.

OOF!

The giant doubled over, the wind knocked out of him.

---

The battle raged for twenty minutes. Trees were shattered (small ones), and rocks were pulverised. Luffy and Ben were holding their own, but the Giants were relentless. Their stamina was infinite. They were enjoying this too much to stay down.

Brogy and Dorry leapt back, landing side by side. They nodded to each other.

"They are worthy, Brother!" Brogy roared.

"Indeed! Let us show them the true might of Elbaf!" Dorry agreed.

They raised their weapons high. The air around them began to distort.

"HAKOKU..."

"Uh oh," Luffy said, stopping his bounce. "That looks big."

"I think it's their final move," Ben realised.

He looked at Luffy. "Captain! We hit it head-on!"

"Yeah!" Luffy agreed.

"...SOVEREIGNTY!"

The giants swung. A beam of compressed air, a drilling vortex of destruction, shot toward Ben and Luffy. It tore up the ground, disintegrating rock and flora.

Ben didn't use Protego. It would shatter.

He didn't use Command T. The energy was too turbulent to shrink instantly.

"Creation: Vibranium Rampart!"

Using Momo's quirk and shaped by Stark's structural engineering knowledge, a massive, angled wall of vibranium was created in front of them.

BOOOOOOOOOM!

The Hakoku Sovereignty slammed into the rampart. The wall cracked, groaned, and glowed red-hot, but the angle deflected the main force of the blast upwards, sending a beam of light into the sky that parted the clouds.

"NOW, LUFFY!" Ben roared, his hands shaking from the effort.

Luffy launches himself high into the air, directly above the surprised giants.

He bit his thumb.

"Bone Balloon!"

His fist inflated to the size of a truck. But this time, he combined it with the speed of Gear Second.

"GOMU GOMU NO... GIANT JET... PISTOL!"

He slammed into both giants simultaneously.

CRASH!

The impact was seismic. Brogy and Dorry, caught off guard by the deflection and the aerial assault, were knocked off their feet. They flew backwards, crashing into the jungle floor with a thud that shook the entire island.

Dust settled.

Luffy landed, panting, shrinking back to normal size (but exhausted).

Ben stood up, dusting off his hands.

The giants lay on their backs, staring at the sky.

Silence.

Then...

"GABABABABABA!"

"GEGYAGYAGYAGYA!"

They sat up, rubbing their chests.

"Magnificent!" Brogy roared. "A wall that deflects the sovereignty!"

"And a strike that hits like a falling mountain!" Dorry laughed.

They looked at Luffy and Ben. They placed their weapons on the ground and bowed their heads—a gesture of immense respect.

"We yield!" Brogy announced. "You have put our backs to the dirt! The victory is yours!"

"Does that mean..." Luffy asked, eyes wide.

"Yes!" Dorry boomed. "The Giant Warrior Pirates... Brogy the Red Ogre and Dorry the Blue Ogre... pledge their weapons to the Straw Hat Crew!"

"YEEEEEEEHAAAAAAW!" Luffy screamed, throwing his hands in the air. "WE GOT GIANTS! WE GOT GIANTS!"

Nami fainted. "The food budget... the ship treasury..."

Usopp was weeping openly. "I'm crewmates with the warriors of Elbaf... Mom, are you seeing this?"

Like that, Dorry and Brogy have successfully joined the Strawhats crew.
