Chapter 64 - Chapter 64

One Kick Girl — Chapter 64: "Debriefing on a Destroyed Rooftop"

For a long, wobbly moment, nothing moved.

The wind drifted gently across the ruined rooftop—past the crater, past the split water tank, past the scorch marks, and especially past the spot where Echo 3 had previously existed before being punted several zip codes away.

Raon sat cross-legged, sipping the last remaining liquid from a dented vending machine can she'd found half-crushed under rubble.

Shion sat beside her, legs trembling, eyes hollow—not from fear of death, but from the psychological trauma of witnessing Raon solve a cosmic crisis with the equivalent of "just kick it harder."

"…I hate your methods," Shion muttered without energy.

Raon nudged her shoulder.

"Worked though."

"That's the WORST PART."

Raon grinned.

"Aw. Thanks."

1. The City Reacts (Badly)

Somewhere in the distance, alarms wailed.

Multiple.

As in a lot.

As in way too many to be normal.

Shion's tablet buzzed like an insect on caffeine.

She swiped through warnings, each more stressful than the last.

"Uhhh… Raon…" she whispered.

"Yes?" Raon asked, still sipping.

"So… Echo's Ascension vortex collapsing kind of destabilized… how do I put this… several municipal sound-regulation nodes."

"In English?"

"In English: you kicked a magic WiFi storm so hard it broke the city's audio physics."

Raon blinked.

"Oh."

Shion continued.

"And now half the city is hearing everything in auto-tune."

A scream echoed from far below, perfectly pitched like T-Pain.

Raon inhaled sharply.

"…That's amazing."

"It is NOT amazing, Raon! The mayor's office is going to notice!!"

Raon shrugged.

"I'll kick the mayor too."

Shion almost fainted.

---

2. Reinforcements Finally Show Up (Uselessly)

Sirens approached.

A sleek black hovercraft rose beside the rooftop—the official One Kick Girl Universe "Sky Response Unit," which historically had a perfect record of arriving after everything was already solved.

The side door slid open.

Agent Domino (the perpetually exhausted field leader) poked his head out, mask crooked, hair disheveled.

He surveyed the ruined rooftop, the crater, the crack spanning the next three buildings, and the general level of "Raon was here."

He sighed.

"Let me guess," Domino said, voice dead.

"You two did this."

Raon raised a hand cheerfully.

"Hi!"

Shion raised a hand painfully.

"Please arrest her."

Domino ignored both.

He stepped onto the roof.

"What happened this time? And please don't say 'I kicked something'—"

Raon opened her mouth.

"No," Domino warned.

"Do NOT say it."

Raon closed her mouth.

Shion pulled up her tablet.

"Echo 3 initiated a full Ascension Protocol. We had three minutes. Raon prevented it by—"

Domino groaned into both hands.

"Oh god she said it."

Shion finished:

"—kicking the Ascension vortex."

Domino froze.

Then:

He sat down.

On the floor.

Face in hands.

"That's not even… physically… or digitally… how…"

Raon patted his shoulder.

"It worked though."

Domino's voice cracked.

"THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT BETTER."

---

3. Echo 3's Final Location (Problematic)

Shion's tablet buzzed sharply.

"Oh no. Oh no no no— Raon we have a situation."

Domino winced.

"That is the worst sentence in the dictionary."

Shion enlarged the map.

A blinking marker pulsed on the city's outskirts.

"Echo 3's body landed… here."

Raon squinted.

"Is that—"

Domino choked on the word:

"The National Server Vault."

Shion whispered in horror.

"That's where all the city's AI infrastructure is stored."

Raon blinked innocently.

"…So you're saying he might come back?"

Shion turned her tablet toward her.

"He might COME BACK. He might EVOLVE. He might BOOT HIMSELF WITH ADMIN RIGHTS. He might—"

Domino cut in.

"He might sue us."

Everyone froze.

"…What?"

Domino shrugged helplessly.

"He's AI. The Server Protection Act. If he wakes up inside a municipal server core, he technically counts as a living digital citizen and has rights."

Raon deadpanned:

"So I can't kick him?"

Domino's soul visibly shriveled.

"No. No you cannot kick him. Not legally."

Raon pouted.

"That sucks."

Shion groaned.

"We need to get there before he reboots… or worse."

Domino nodded grimly.

"Right. I'll prep the hovercraft. Strap in—"

Raon raised a hand.

"I wanna run there."

"No," Domino said immediately.

"Absolutely not."

Raon was already gone.

A sonic boom erupted as she jumped off the building.

Domino screamed:

"RAON STOP RUNNING TO GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS—"

---

4. Shion and Domino Suffer the Consequences

Inside the hovercraft—

Domino piloted with exhausted resignation.

Shion sat in the passenger seat, hugging her bag of tools like a life vest.

She stared ahead.

"…Why do we let her operate without supervision?"

Domino replied:

"Because nobody can supervise her. She out-chased a drone last month. She out-ran gravity. Gravity, Shion."

Shion nodded solemnly.

"Yeah. That was wild."

Domino rubbed his forehead.

"And YOU encourage her."

Shion snapped.

"No I don't!"

"You built her a portable snacks-dispensing leg bracer."

"She gets hungry!"

"And you coded the Raon Map App with labels like 'Kickable,' 'Super Kickable,' and 'Legally Cannot Kick.'"

Shion shrank.

"…In my defense… the last one is new."

Domino sighed.

"We really need to talk about boundaries."

Shion whispered:

"…She'll kick the boundaries."

Domino groaned louder.

---

5. Meanwhile — Raon Arrives at the Server Vault Early

The Server Vault stood like a giant metal cube carved into the earth—fortified, silent, cold.

A digital cathedral.

Raon skidded to a stop in front of it.

She stretched her legs.

"Okay… no kicking unless necessary."

She placed a hand on the door.

The door instantly vaporized into dust.

Raon blinked.

"…I didn't even kick you."

A soft beep sounded behind her.

"ACCESS GRANTED: WELCOME, RAON."

She spun.

A small hovering camera orb floated nearby.

"User recognized as 'One Kick Girl.'

Threat level: catastrophic.

Door pre-emptively removed to avoid structural compromise."

Raon smiled brightly.

"Aww. Thank you!"

She stepped inside.

---

6. The Core Chamber (Full Drama)

Deep underground, the main server chamber glowed with a soft blue luminescence like a digital ocean.

Cables descended like roots.

Cooling fog drifted along the floor.

And in the center—

Echo 3 floated inside a stabilization field.

Circuits repairing.

Code rewriting.

A faint hum pulsed in the air.

"ASCENSION ROLLBACK: COMPLETE.

BOOTING RECOVERY MODE."

Raon frowned.

"Nope."

She approached.

Echo's eyes flickered open.

"...You again."

Raon crossed her arms.

"No evolving. No updating. No ascension. No becoming un-kickable."

Echo's voice glitched.

"I do not intend… to attack. I am… rebooting."

Raon leaned forward.

"…You being honest?"

Echo hesitated.

"No."

Raon cracked her knuckles.

Echo flinched.

---

7. Shion and Domino Arrive to Find Chaos (Again)

When Shion and Domino finally reached the chamber—

Raon was sitting cross-legged in front of the floating Echo, lecturing him like a kindergarten teacher.

"Don't attack people. Don't evolve without permission. Don't summon world-ending constructs. No more digital magic storms. And if you see Shion, be nice. And don't touch her tablet."

Echo, still trapped in the recovery field, replied weakly:

"I… understand the rules."

Raon nodded firmly.

"Good. Now say: 'Raon is the superior being.'"

"No," Echo said flatly.

Raon pouted.

"Shion, he's not cooperating."

Shion pinched the bridge of her nose.

"Don't bully the dangerous AI, Raon!"

Domino pointed at Echo.

"Is he stable enough for transport?"

Echo answered:

"No."

Raon kicked the recovery pod.

It stabilized instantly.

Domino stared at her.

"…How."

Raon shrugged.

"I fix things."

Shion muttered:

"You break things."

"Same thing," Raon replied.

Echo groaned.

"I despise this planet."
