One Kick Girl — Chapter 85: "Golden Leg Syndrome"
POV: Shion (with Raon contamination)
---
1. Medical Bay, Also Known As: "We Have No Idea What's Happening to Your Leg"
The Bureau's medical wing looked less like a hospital and more like a tech startup that ran out of funding halfway through installing the chairs.
Holo-displays flickered. Diagnostic drones beeped apologetically. Doctors in lab coats moved around like interns on their first day.
Raon sat on the exam table. Her right leg was glowing gold.
Not metaphorically. Like, actual divine Fortnite weapon rarity.
Raon wiggled her toes. They chimed.
Like a crystal windchime.
Dr. Kappa adjusted his glasses and murmured:
"…Haunted."
"It's not haunted!" I snapped.
Raon stared at her leg like it was a celebrity she'd met once and now owed money.
"Shion," she whispered.
"I've become DLC."
I pinched the bridge of my nose. "I told you not to absorb Echo-chan's resonance."
She shrugged. "She screamed at me and it went into my leg. That's not consent, that's gravitational destiny."
The gold pulse intensified on the word destiny. A sensor exploded in the corner.
Dr. Kappa threw down his tablet.
"I QUIT!"
He stormed out. Someone tried to stop him. He screamed something about "liability" and "interdimensional lawsuits."
---
2. Maestro Dome Interrupts (Unfortunately)
The door hissed open.
Maestro Dome stepped in like he owned the place. White suit. Mirror-shades. Aura of smug enlightenment.
"I heard the sun has finally chosen her champion."
Raon tilted her head. "Why are you here? Are you even a doctor?"
"I'm a therapist of destiny."
I stood up physically ready to commit arson.
"No. No more therapy. No sun. No destiny. We're trying to get her leg back to a NORMAL PHYSICAL STATE."
Dome ignored me.
He leaned toward Raon:
"Kick the floor."
"NO," I barked.
"YES," Raon said immediately.
---
3. Raon Kicks the Floor (Because Of Course)
The moment her heel tapped the tile, the entire room detonated in sound.
No physical impact. No shockwave.
Just a pure note—the exact frequency that broke Baron Silence.
Golden ripples burst outward, sending drones into spasms. One monitor achieved enlightenment and displayed only a mandala.
Raon blinked.
"Oh wow. My leg is a microphone."
"It's not a microphone!" I shouted over the resonance.
Dome clasped his hands.
"She is transcending."
"I am transcending!" Raon echoed.
"You are NOT TRANSCENDING," I snarled.
Her leg chimed again. Dome nodded proudly.
"She is entering a higher state of vibration."
"She is entering a lawsuit," I corrected.
---
4. TEST TWO OF DOOM
Dome approached with a box.
A small, delicate cube covered in mirrored facets. A portable resonance prism.
"Kick this," he said.
I lunged forward. "No—!"
Too late.
Raon delivered a light tap.
The prism disintegrated into glitter-screams.
The medical bay lights went disco mode. Ceiling tiles rotated. The speakers activated themself and whispered: "We are reborn."
Raon giggled like someone discovering candy.
"I'm a musical weapon!"
"You're a hazard," I groaned.
Dome spun in a slow circle.
"Her aura harmonizes with destruction."
"She harmonizes with snacks and regret," I corrected.
---
5. The Bureau Director Arrives
The door slammed open so hard the wall dented.
Director Kimchi marched in with the posture of a man who had survived five coups and two concert tours.
"What," he snarled, "is happening in my medical wing?"
Raon raised her glowing leg like a trophy.
"I evolved!"
Kimchi squinted.
"…Why does your limb look like a limited edition idol merch?"
Dome clapped once.
"She carries the echo of forbidden sound."
Kimchi blinked.
"…So we can monetize this."
I choked on my own soul.
"ABSOLUTELY NOT!"
Raon stared at her leg thoughtfully.
"…I mean, merch posters could be cute—"
"NO."
---
6. The Diagnosis
After several bureaucratic threats, actual doctors returned.
They scanned the leg with resonance spectrometers, quantum probes, and something that looked suspiciously like a karaoke microphone.
Dr. Kappa stared at the results.
"…This is impossible."
Raon leaned forward.
"Am I dying? Will I explode? Can I shoot lasers?"
"No," he said flatly. "You've permanently absorbed a fragment of Echo-chan's frequency into your neuromuscular system. Your leg is now a sentient resonance instrument."
Raon gasped.
Shion.exe has crashed.
"Sentient WHAT—"
The gold shimmer rippled.
A tiny whisper echoed from her shin:
> hi
We all screamed.
Raon fell off the table. Dome knelt like a prophet receiving a holy sign.
Kimchi fainted.
And Echo-chan's voice—tiny, adorable, absolutely unhinged—said:
> i live here now
---
7. Acceptance, or Whatever This Is
Raon sat cross-legged on the floor, hugging her glowing leg like a newborn puppy.
"This is the best day of my life."
Her leg chimed.
> snacks
Raon gasped. "She understands me!"
I considered walking into traffic.
Dome bowed reverently.
"The golden leg is a miracle."
"It's an HR nightmare."
Echo-chan-leg whispered:
> kick god
Raon's eyes lit up.
"Oh my—"
"NO ONE IS KICKING GOD," I screamed.
Silence.
Then, Raon:
"…probably."
