Chapter 143 - Chapter 143: Nah, I'd Lose

Yamato's IQ was technically normal.

But that "normal" was at best comparable to a child's level—so her way of thinking and doing things often felt... overly simple.

That's why, after witnessing Gion get defeated and injured by Scathach—yet still receive Jaeger's affection rather than scolding—Yamato had a bright idea.

"If I get beaten too… won't Jaeger spoil me as well?"

Inspired, she came to a brilliant conclusion:

She'd fight five monsters at once.

Not just anyone, of course. Her chosen opponents?

Scathach, Karuizawa Kei, Esdeath, Akainu… and her dad, Kaido.

As for Gecko Moria? Yamato didn't even register him as a threat. The guy was already hiding in the cabin where the fake Roger was locked up.

Had he shown his face, Yamato probably would've smacked him around six times for good measure.

But Yamato didn't think that far ahead. She wasn't aware that these five, even without Moria, could easily recreate a Top War-level battle.

In her mind, she was strong—very strong. And if her enemies weren't powerful enough to injure her, then how would she get the care she wanted?

[In the Chat Group]

Uchiha Miyuki: "Yamato is actually doing it?? One versus five?? I know she's buffed from the Mythical Zoan Fruit, but seriously—this is nuts!"

Yamamoto Mei: "Well, her brain's still child-level. Even though she's physically an adult, don't forget—Jaeger did turn her into one using evil demon egg."

Jibril: "She's so adorable~ That big white-haired dog! I bet she'll be even cuter when she's beaten to tears! sigh Too bad it's not me in the Pirate World right now…"

Scathach: "...So I'm supposed to fight this child? Hm. This feels more like bullying than a duel. Not sure how I feel about that."

Esdeath: "Age and strength don't matter. As long as I get to crush someone and enjoy it, I'm in."

Karuizawa Kei: "Wait, do I have to fight her too? Isn't she one of Jaeger's girls? If I attack her, won't that count as betrayal or something?"

Eriri Sawamura: "Girl, please. You may have signed a slave contract, but don't act that whipped."

Karuizawa Kei: "Hehehe~ But I am Jaeger-sama's loyal dog. So I can't disobey him~"

Jaeger: "Just go all out. As long as you don't kill her, it's fine. And even if you do—Jibril can fix her with Senzu beans."

Jibril: "…So I'm just a glorified Senzu bean machine now?"

Uchiha Miyuki: "Exactly! It's your true calling! (serious face)"

Jibril: "...Keep talking, and I'll make you understand why my race is known for killing gods."

Uchiha Miyuki: "Can I still apologize—?"

Jibril: "Too late. :)"

[Back in the One Piece World]

"Heh. Interesting. At least you've got guts."

Akainu stepped forward, magma dripping from his arms as he looked Yamato dead in the eye.

"You're Kaido's daughter. If you challenge me, I'll respond as a Navy Admiral. No mercy."

"You idiot girl!"

Kaido slammed his massive kanabo into the ground, veins popping in his forehead.

"Just 'cause you beat me once, you think you're invincible now? Fine. Time to show you just how small you really are!"

"Assault? It might feel like bullying a child, but I suppose I'm in."

Esdeath crossed her arms, her ice-blue eyes gleaming.

"My abilities might not hurt Yamato thanks to her ice resistance, but after I beat her, maybe Jaeger will want to fight me next… Now that's exciting."

"Eh?"

Scathach tilted her head.

"Are we actually going to fight Jaeger?"

"Most likely," Esdeath smirked. "Jibril injured Kasumigaoka Utaha once. Jaeger stepped in and gave her a... lesson. If we beat up Yamato, there's a decent chance he'll come knocking."

Karuizawa Kei went pale.

"NOPE. No way I'm fighting Jaeger-sama. Even just using 1% of his power of lightning that tears the Stars apart was traumatizing. I never want to see the full thing."

"I'm kind of looking forward to it," Scathach admitted.

"He caught my magic spear with two fingers. That kind of strength... is exactly what I want to challenge."

"…So you're seriously going to beat up this dumb wolf-girl?" Kei asked, stunned.

"Yep."

Scathach's twin spears spun elegantly in her hands as her smile grew.

"Another world, another fight. What's the point if we don't test ourselves against the best?"

"...Fine." Kei sighed, eyes sharp and timid.

"It's just a friendly spar anyway. I would try my best to go easy, though."

"Ohh! You're all willing to fight me?" Yamato's eyes lit up with childlike excitement.

"Awesome!"

As cold winds and flame clouds surged around her, Yamato transformed into a majestic silver-white wolf goddess.

Not far away, Jaeger sat watching with Olvia in his arms, shaking his head with a wry smile.

"Honestly… this silly girl's probably gonna get beaten until she cries."

"Will Miss Yamato lose?" Olvia asked quietly. Despite their awkward past, she couldn't help but worry.

"Scathach is a warrior goddess, and Akainu's no joke. She'll get hurt for sure. But that's part of the process."

Jaeger's gaze never wavered.

"If you want to stand out, you have to suffer first. Getting beaten is the first lesson on the road to power."

"…Did you get beaten like that?"

Olvia blinked at him curiously.

Jaeger paused for a moment.

"…Not really."

He had to admit—since arriving in this world, he'd been pretty much untouchable.

High-ranking Celestial Dragon at the start, powerful relics from Impel Down, and then… missions across worlds.

Only once—during a mission in the Naruto world—had someone ever landed a solid hit on him. Luo Hao had struck him with her divine might Vajrapani once.

Just once.

And she paid dearly for it.

He'd carved his name into her body afterward—permanently.

"…So she's still the only one who's ever managed to land a hit on me," he muttered.

Back on the battlefield, Yamato slammed her foot into the deck and charged with all the energy of a kid let loose in a candy store.

"I'm starting now! Don't hold back!!"

"Ice Demon God Manifestation—Ice Age!"

With a sigh, Esdeath raised her hand. A tidal wave of frost surged outward.

CRACK—!

Everything froze. The air itself turned to crystal. Even the sea beneath them turned into a vast, frozen wasteland. Yamato was trapped in a solid block of ice in an instant.

"You may be immune to ice damage, but you can still be frozen. Don't be so careless, little pup," Esdeath muttered.

Whoosh—!

Scathach, wasting no time, hurled both of her bloody magic spears straight into the frozen Yamato.

"Break through—piercing death!"

Blood-red magic flared like lightning as both spears slammed into the frozen girl's body.

CRACK! BOOM!

The ice shattered in a spray of blood and frozen organs.

"Ah!"

Yamato's shrill scream echoed as she smashed through a thick wall of ice with her mace. Blood gushed from a hole the size of a bowl in her chest and stomach, making even the usually calm Olvia tremble.

"Idiot daughter! Hah, do you now understand that there are many people stronger than you!"

Despite the words, Kaido's face twitched with a flicker of pain—but he didn't hold back. Without warning, he teleported behind Yamato and swung his mace, coated in roaring Haki.

"Thunder Bagua!"

"Bastard old man! Attacking when I'm already down?!"

Yamato roared in frustration, cursing her father's shamelessness. Blood dripped from her open wounds, but she still gritted her teeth and swung back with her own weapon.

Boom!!

The sky cracked with black lightning as Yamato and Kaido clashed again.

With her body already injured, Yamato was at a disadvantage, and this time, she was sent flying—spinning through the air like a ragdoll—right into the path of another predator.

"Hellfire Fist!"

Akainu, unsurprisingly, showed no mercy to the daughter of a former Emperor. His molten fist fell from above like a divine judgment, the scorching magma distorting the very air around it.

"Haaah!!"

But Yamato wasn't one to falter. She bellowed and unleashed a breath of freezing air—far colder than what was seen in the original canon.

The icy blast clashed head-on with the molten fist, like two opposing gods colliding.

BOOOOOOM!!!

The explosion shook the warship as heat and frost violently repelled one another.

Akainu staggered back, crashing into the ship's railing, while Yamato was thrown away by the blast wave, landing hard in the distance.

Still dazed and struggling to get up, Yamato heard a voice—light and dangerous.

"Sorry... I guess it's finally my turn."

She looked up, her eyes catching the flash of a golden ponytail and the electric aura of divine thunder radiating from Karuizawa Kei's hand. Her heart skipped.

"I am the lightning that tears apart the stars—(low budget, obviously)."

It was a declaration—over-the-top and absurd in this world—but still terrifying. Kei's Noble Phantasm, even at just one percent power, wasn't something the One Piece world was built to withstand.

A black divine thunder spear shot toward Yamato, followed by countless bolts of lightning raining down from the heavens. The entire sky seemed to collapse as thunder engulfed her.

In Jaeger's arms, Olvia clutched his sleeve tightly, her voice a whisper of panic.

"Miss Yamato... is she going to be alright?"

The same question ran through the chat group.

Uchiha Miyuki: "Yo! I thought this was just a light spar... They're actually trying to kill her! Even a Senzu Bean might not save her!"

Jibril: "Hmm~ I don't think she'll die. With the Mythical Zoan upgrades and Jaeger's bloodline buffs, Yamato's physical stats are probably the best in the entire One Piece universe."

Jaeger: "...Just pass me a few extra Senzu Beans, just in case."

Jibril: "Huh? Why a few?"

Jaeger: "Didn't you notice? Esdeath, Akainu, Scathach... they're all aiming for me. Yamato's just a warm-up. They want to push me into a fight."

Yamamoto Mei: "Oh... That makes sense. They really comboed her like they'd rehearsed it. It's all to provoke you, huh."

Kocho Shinobu: "What about Miss Karuizawa and Kaido? Are they also targeting you?"

Jaeger: "Kaido? Nah. He just wanted to restore some fatherly pride after getting clowned by his daughter. Karuizawa, though..."

Kasumigaoka Utaha: "She's jealous. You're her 'master,' and then a big fluffy white dog shows up wagging her tail at you? Yeah, this is textbook girl-dog rivalry."

Uchiha Miyuki: "Wait what? That's... kind of convincing."

Eriri Sawamura: "Hmph. For once, I agree with the fat witch. Makes total sense!"

Of course, the chat group's banter didn't slow the chaos in the battlefield.

Even after the brutal combo attack, Yamato's absurdly strong body—enhanced by the Mythical Zoan Fruit and Jaeger's divine bloodline—refused to fall. She burst from the thunderstorm, scorched but still standing.

But her enemies weren't amateurs.

Esdeath's control over ice was so precise that, despite Yamato's immunity to freezing, she couldn't move.

Scathach's spears pierced her again and again, each one a masterclass in divine martial technique. Karuizawa's thunder kept up the pressure like a merciless storm.

Only Akainu's lava gave her room to counter, and even then, it was just enough to survive the flames, not win the exchange.

Over ten minutes later...

"UWAAAAH!! No more! I give up! I give up! It hurts, Jaeger!"

Just as Jaeger predicted, the child finally broke. Covered in blood, bones cracked, skin bruised and torn, even her skull dented—Yamato wailed like a beaten pup and flung herself into Jaeger's arms.

"Now you understand what you're up against, right?"

Jaeger gently fed her a Senzu Bean. Her wounds vanished, but the emotional damage lingered. Sniffling and trembling, she nestled into his embrace like a traumatized cub.

Technically, her mission was accomplished. She'd earned Jaeger's attention... but at what cost?

"That was fun!"

The elegant double-barreled guns vanished from Scathach's hands as she approached.

"Her physique... it's even more exhilarating than fighting gods or titans."

"Agreed!" Esdeath grinned.

"Her resistance was so satisfying to break—more than any super-species I've hunted."

Akainu and Kaido didn't say a word. They simply exchanged nods—two thugs who knew they'd done a good job.

Only Karuizawa Kei looked awkward. She bowed deeply to Yamato.

"S-Sorry! I didn't mean to go that hard!"

"Liar!" Yamato snapped, clinging to Jaeger like a child.

"You were smiling when you fried me! Don't think I didn't see it!"

"A-Ahaha... well... that was the battle high... not personal..."

Karuizawa rubbed the back of her neck, visibly embarrassed.

Then Scathach turned, eyes sharp and grin dangerous.

"So, Mr. Jaeger... now that we've dealt with the warm-up, how about showing us what you've got?"
