"Are you sure about this?"
Aria's voice was gentle as they sat in the first-class cabin of the Air France flight to Paris, and she watched Marcus stare out the window at the clouds below.
Marcus's left arm was still in a sling from the shoulder surgery, and physical therapy had only just begun, but his doctors had cleared him for travel with strict instructions about rest and medication.
"No," Marcus admitted. "I'm not sure about anything regarding Karl. But I need to meet him properly, see if there's any possibility of us building a relationship before I make a final decision about custody."
"What if he doesn't remember you?" Aria asked. "He was only four when you saw him at the gallery. That was weeks ago now."
"Then we start from scratch," Marcus said. "But Catherine said I looked at him like he was my son. Maybe Karl saw something in me too. Maybe there's a foundation to build on."
"If you meet him and realize you can't be what he needs, what then?" " Aria asked carefully.
