Chapter 238 - Chapter 237 The Werewolf's Past

"I just wanted to reminisce about my past!" the tall man laughed, showing no particular emotion even as he was called a disgusting werewolf. "Honestly, you really do resemble her. No wonder that old guy Victor wanted to keep you by his side."

"How do you know all this?" Selina looked at the man in surprise. She knew a little about why she was favored by the Clan Chief. But for a mortal enemy, a werewolf, to know such secret matters within her Family, seemed very abnormal.

"The Victor Family is already on the verge of destruction, do you still not realize what kind of talent has emerged within your own Family?"

"An internal traitor?" Selina gritted her teeth as she uttered these words. Having thought it through, she poured all her hatred into this role. Sometimes, compared to an enemy, the person who betrays and sells you out is the most detestable.

"Who is he?"

Seeing Selina almost biting her lips raw, the werewolf knew she must desperately want to grind that traitor to dust. He laughed casually, revealing his sharp canines.

"You don't need to know who he is, because the dead have no need to be disturbed."

Traitors are often disliked by both sides. However, many traitors still live very comfortably. But there are always exceptions. One must say, when it comes to complete annihilation.

Selina guessed the meaning of his words, and at this moment, the dying cries of her clansmen and crisp gunshots echoed in her ears. This made her realize what she was truly facing.

It was the most thorough extermination of their Family; whether it was these remnants or the traitors, all would only have one outcome: Death.

Such a bloody end had not occurred in Vampire society for a very long time. Even in her hundreds of years of life, she had never encountered such a thing. This was truly a huge blow to her.

Crimson blood flowed from her lips, making her look as mournful as a cuckoo crying blood.

"Why are you doing this to us? What did we do wrong?"

"You didn't do anything wrong!" A look of satisfaction, the satisfaction of avenging a great hatred, appeared on the werewolf's face. "It's just that you have to pay for that guy Victor's mistakes. When a foolish Clan Chief makes mistakes, you naturally follow him in receiving punishment. Victor has already died by my hand, now it's your turn."

Hearing this, Selina closed her eyes once more and raised her fair neck. Since it had come to this, she naturally held no more hope. Opening her arms to embrace Death, this was all she could do now.

However, the werewolf did not strike, or rather, he couldn't bear to strike. Selina was too similar to the person deep in his memory, so similar that he couldn't bring himself to harm her. So he hesitated for a moment, then knelt down and said to Selina.

"Listen, you still have a chance to save your life. It just depends on whether you can grasp it."

"What new scheme do you have?" Hearing the possibility of survival, Selina opened her eyes. However, the next moment, she fell silent again. How could a werewolf help a Vampire? It must be another conspiracy.

Compared to being toyed with and humiliated, the strong-willed Selina would rather die quickly.

And looking at her stubborn expression, the werewolf seemed a little lost in thought.

His memory seemed to return to that night hundreds of years ago. The same stubbornness, the same strength, but it was two women who looked exactly alike.

"Listen, the Dark Council has received a supreme decree. The Victor Family collaborated with that great rebel, and you possess a Divine Artifact entrusted to Victor by that rebel. That is what the Council needs; as long as you can tell us where that item is, you..."

"What Divine Artifact? I don't know!" Selina said coldly. She was just a warrior and never concerned herself with Family secrets. The werewolf was certainly mistaken in trying to extract Family secrets from her.

"I asked Victor, but that guy, even in Death, refused to lower his decaying head. He clearly harbored secrets. However, even if he wanted to speak, I wouldn't give him any chance."

The werewolf chuckled, and from his face, it was clear that he harbored only intense hatred for this Vampire Clan Chief named Victor.

Selina didn't know what kind of hatred existed between this werewolf and Victor. But she knew that everything was about to end. The Victor Family had already become history, and there was no need to understand their hatred.

"Kill me. I don't know anything. And even if I did, I wouldn't tell you."

"It's not that difficult. You know?" The werewolf pinched Selina's face and whispered, "Just think. Does that thing, like a Pyramid, containing red holy blood, exist, and where is it? If you can think of the answer, perhaps you can save yourself."

At this point, he glanced at the few remaining women and children of Selina's tribe.

"Perhaps, it's not just saving yourself!"

Hearing these words, Selina's pupils instantly contracted. She was an anomaly in her clan, with thin emotional ties to it. But to Victor, she was fiercely loyal. She knew what the clan meant to Victor, which is why, after Victor's Death, she was still fighting for the clan. It was to not betray Victor's nurturing grace.

"How about it? Perhaps my words will help your memory. Don't you think?" The werewolf saw the change in Selina's expression and chuckled.

Selina's face was unpredictable. She watched as the werewolf waved his hand, stopping the ongoing slaughter. Then, everyone's eyes fixed on her. Instantly, a heavy pressure weighed on her heart.

Under these circumstances, she could only speak of what she knew.

"I don't know if that's what you're looking for, but over a hundred years ago, someone did hand something over to Victor."

"Is it the Divine Artifact?" A Vampire immediately came closer, clearly very interested in this news.

In contrast, the werewolves' reaction was rather indifferent. They seemed uninterested in this so-called Divine Artifact, and many werewolves continued to scan the trembling Vampires. Compared to the Divine Artifact, they seemed to prefer killing their mortal enemies.

"I don't know. Victor never let me ask about other things," Selina shook her head. "I only saw that thing once, and after that, I never saw it again."

"What else do you remember about it?" The Vampire directly pushed aside the werewolf next to Selina and asked her urgently.

"I don't remember very clearly. I only remember that day, Victor seemed to scold me. Because I seemed to be attracted by the light emanating from that box, a little out of control." Selina's expression was somewhat dazed, even her eyes seemed a little empty. And such an expression made everyone believe the content of her recollection.

Combining Selina's memories with what he already knew, the leading Vampire finally showed an ecstatic expression.

"It's it, it must be it. The holy blood of legend, the item mentioned in the decree of the Dark Council's My Lords. Quickly tell me, where is it?"

"I don't know. Victor hid it after that."

"But that old guy Victor is dead!"

"That's your problem, not mine. You killed Victor!"

The Vampire urgently wanted to know the whereabouts of this so-called holy blood, but in their verbal dispute with Selina, they only kept circling back to a dead man. This was absolutely intolerable to him. He pulled out his gun and pressed it against Selina's head.

"I'm giving you one last chance. You'd better think of something useful. Otherwise, you'll just have to go ask the dead Victor for me."

Selina was somewhat indifferent to the Vampire's threat. But the werewolf couldn't stand still; he wanted to step forward and say something, but his companion behind him placed a hand on his shoulder. He spun around abruptly, only to find a large Black man gently shaking his head at him.

"I..." Lucian was about to break free from his large hand, but the next sentence from the man made him completely still.

"You are the King of our Werewolf clan. Your every action concerns the future of our Werewolf clan. Now that we have finally joined the Council, and can at last stop hiding like rats, are you going to jeopardize the future of the Werewolf clan with your momentary impulsiveness?"

He spoke very softly, but it was enough for Lucian to hear clearly. And after hearing his words, a fierce struggle immediately arose within his heart.

The reason Lucian wanted to save Selina was entirely because she looked exactly like Lucian's deceased lover. And he himself, in fact, had no relation to Selina. The large Black man was very clear on this point, which is why he stepped in to prevent Lucian's rash actions.

As the ruler of a clan, Lucian's every action affected the clan's lifeline. And as Lucian's subordinate and friend, he could not watch him make a mistake.

Lucian was, after all, a wise ruler, and he clearly understood what boundaries he should adhere to. The Werewolf clan had just joined the Council, lacking power and without the need to sacrifice its future for a woman. He understood this clearly, and so he was decisive.

Turning away, Lucian did not look at Selina again. He faced his Werewolf brethren; they were his future, not a Vampire woman.

His actions were observed by the Vampire leader. He smiled eerily and said to Selina.

"It seems no one is willing to protect you anymore. So, can you tell me your answer now?"

Selina's face was ashen. She closed her eyes and murmured.

"I only know this much. For the rest, you'll have to ask Victor."

"Then, I'm sorry." A gunshot instantly rang out. But the result was unexpected.
