Chapter 43 - Prequel Chapter Nineteen: The Goddess’s “Revenge”

After being "tormented" for days by Fox Lian's fluffy assaults, Emma decided to deliver a little "revenge" of her own against the fox who had turned aloofness into an art.

During a Rune Literature quiz, Fox Lian sat beside her as usual. He wore a robe trimmed with silvery-gray fur at the collar, his tail draped lazily over the back of Emma's chair, sweeping against her spine now and then—his new hobby, under the excuse of "helping her relax during tests."

Emma appeared focused on her answers, but inside she was counting down.

When the bell rang and it was time to hand in papers, she suddenly turned, leaned close to his ear, and whispered quickly: "Actually, Prince Thranduil's waist is quite slender too."

Before Fox Lian could react, she rose smoothly, handed in her paper, and walked away with a flourish.

Fox Lian: "!!!"

He froze, violet eyes wide in disbelief, tail exploding into a puffball of fur, even the trim on his collar bristling. She. Did. That. On. Purpose!

For the rest of the day, Fox Lian was in a low-pressure state.

When Emma went to the library, he trailed behind, tail drooping, ears listless. When she went to the alchemy room, he stood at the door, arms crossed, gaze wounded. Even when she laughed with Gu Liang, he appeared suddenly, staring with eyes that said, "How dare you look at someone else?"

"You've got to stop," Gu Liang muttered, rubbing her arms. "This jealousy is thick enough to smother the alchemy furnace."

Emma, however, found it hilarious. The fox who was usually so composed turned out to be… surprisingly fun when jealous.

That night, back in her dorm, Fox Lian was still sulking. He had shifted into his fox form, a fluffy silver creature curled on her bed, head buried in his tail, only his damp violet eyes peeking at her.

Emma's heart softened. She sat beside him, stroking his soft back fur. "Just teasing," she whispered. "I never noticed Thranduil's waist."

His ears twitched, but he didn't lift his head.

Emma coaxed further: "The only waist I care about is a jealous fox's tail—so fluffy and warm, perfect to sleep with."

The tail loosened slightly.

Emma hid a smile, leaned down, and kissed his furry head. "And besides, a certain fox looks especially cute when jealous. I want to see it forever."

Silver light flashed—Fox Lian shifted back, pulling her into his arms. His eyes blazed, tail wrapping tightly around her waist. "Forever?" His voice was husky. "Promise me."

Emma laughed, nodded, and kissed him first.

The next day, students saw Fox Lian restored to his usual cold composure—except his tail was constantly wrapped around Emma's wrist, as if afraid she might slip away to "study someone else's waist."

And when Prince Thranduil passed Emma in the corridor, he distinctly felt Fox Lian's gaze turn colder.

The Elf Prince: "???"
