The whisper faded but its echo remained, wrapping around my thoughts like smoke. All wolves crave dominance, even you.
I sat frozen at the marble table, my heart still racing from the Fifth Glass. Around me, the chamber felt smaller. Darker. The black water beneath the floor seemed closer, hungrier, like it could sense how close I was to breaking.
The sixth chalice materialized.
This one was different from all the others. It looked like it had been carved from ice, perfectly clear and cold enough that frost formed on the marble where it touched. The liquid inside was silver. Not grey or white, but pure molten silver that moved like mercury, alive and sentient.
I stared at it, my hands still trembling from the last vision.
"Two more," the Duchess said softly. "Only two more chalices stand between you and the truth about Luna herself."
I couldn't find my voice to respond.
