Chapter 43 - Metal testing and new firearms. (Part 1)

I looked towards the voice, and it was Míriel. She had a tray with drinks; I set up a table, and she put it on it. She bowed as I smiled and spoke to her. "In a little bit, Míriel. But for now, please have a seat." I said while making a chair for her as she smiled and took a seat, as I picked up the Mimic Speed 9.

It was the only 9mm I had, but it would work fine as I loaded the 9mm ammo from my world's standard. I aimed at the AR-15 steel, fired the whole magazine, changed magazines as I ran out, then moved onto the Nightshade steel and unloaded. I took the magazine out of the Mimic Speed 9 and cleared it as I walked towards the targets.

9mm wouldn't do anything to the 1/2-inch AR-15 steel, but I wanted to see the impact comparison between the two metals. This will give me a rough understanding in the beginning. As I dragged my fingers over the hits on the AR-15 steel, there wasn't even a dent, and I walked over to the Nightshade steel; there weren't even marks on it.

Returning and picking up the Dualler, loading the magazines, and aiming them at the targets. Unloading the rounds into both targets, this time, a small dent showed up on the AR-15 steel. But it was so small it wouldn't be called damage at all; the Nightshade steel had no dent.

I moved on to the HK416 and unloaded thirty rounds into each of the targets. The dent on the AR-15 steel was slightly bigger than the .45 ACP, but still didn't do much damage. Still no damage on the Nightshade steel, moving on to the 45-70. This round is going to damage the AR-15 steel, but I really want to see if the Nightshade steel is damaged as well.

If it isn't, I'll need to try larger calibers. As I fired at the AR-15 steel with the lever action until it was empty, I reloaded the rounds and fired at the Nightshade steel as I finished. Making sure the weapon was empty, I placed it onto the table and walked down to the targets. The AR-15 steel had chunks removed, but they didn't go all the way through.

Walking over to the Nightshade steel, and smirked as it barely had a dent on it. This metal is excellent. A 45-70 was like a .45 ACP to it, that is insane, I wonder just how strong it is. Walking back to the table, I started to think for a moment.

I choose to make the Sig Spear as it fires the 6.8x51 Sig Fury, which is stronger than the 7.62 at dealing with armored targets. Plus, I hated the 7.62 and won't ever use it. It's beneath me, I thought to myself as I spat on the ground. I started to make the Sig Spear, along with the ammo and equipment needed.

Having so much mana made it so easy to make weapons now that I could make several a day with the ammo that was needed. I finished it and loaded the magazine. The 6.8x51 can penetrate 1/2-inch AR-15 Steel at 300 meters. As I am only about 150 meters away, it shouldn't be an issue going through that thickness.

Taking aim at it and pulling the trigger as the rounds hit, I could see the steel having holes from this distance as I finished. Putting another magazine in and aiming the Nightshade steel. Pulling the trigger, I noticed sparks as the round hit the steel. I finished the magazine, cleared the rifle, and placed it on the table.

As I examined the targets, the AR-15 steel was completely punched through, while the Nightshade steel had a slightly bigger dent about the size of the pink finger tip. But it wasn't that deep. This already made me happy, as it was half the thickness of the armor on my drones and already showed that it was way stronger and lighter.

This will improve the drone's mobility, defense, and power drain. The lighter the drone is, the less energy it takes to move. I had already made up my mind to use this to replace the armor, and now I was 100% sure. I wanted to test one more round, so I needed to make another rifle.

Walking back to the table and pulling up the skill, this time I was making a long-distance rifle. So I picked the Barrett 50 Caliber sniper rifle. I also need to make new .50-caliber rounds, since the ones used by the Drones wouldn't work with the gun, since the casings are made differently.

"Míriel, can you please move back to the mansion wall for this. It's going to get way louder, and I don't want you to hurt your ears." I said before putting on some ear protection. She nodded and stepped back as I loaded the box magazine into the Barrett, pulling the bolt back and letting it move forward.

I was lying on the ground for this one, aiming the Nightshade steel and firing. Sparks exploded out as the round slammed into the metal. I fired four more rounds before clearing the Barrett and removing the ear protection.

Walking towards the Nightshade steel, I stopped, shocked as the .50 caliber rounds didn't make it through. It bulged out the back, but it didn't make it through. That was unreal. This metal was out of this world. "Should I start making the normal bullets out of Nightshade steel? If it was this strong, could it be used for the rounds?" I said to myself.

I stood there running the thoughts through my mind until I shook my head and walked back. I will think about it later; for now, it's time to test the magic rounds against the standard Nightshade steel and the enhanced Nightshade steel as I walk back and pick up the 9mm.

Loading it with the wind around, I was going to start with the wind-and-lightning rounds first. Before moving on to the Raging Tempest ammo, as I aimed and fired the wind ones first, they slammed into the Nightshade steel before I moved onto the other target. As I fired, the target began to glow, and a shield appeared, blocking the bullet.

The shield was about four feet around the hole targeted as I worked on the math; if I covered the whole drone, it should give me a six-foot shield around it at the very least. Looking at the standard Nightshade steel, there was no damage from the 9mm wind round.

I repeated the test with the 9mm lightning round, and the results were the same: no damage with the standard Nightshade steel, and it didn't make it to the other one. I skipped the .45 ACP and moved on to the 45-70 Government. As that was a rifle round, I wanted to see if it would pack more of a punch.

Loading it with the wind round first and firing it, it hit the Nightshade steel and did almost as much damage as the 6.8x51. So I now knew that the Nightshade won't be able to handle a .50 wind round at the very least. I fired at the enhanced Nightshade steel, but it didn't go any farther than the other rounds.

As I moved onto the Sig Spear, loading it with a wind round and aiming at the Nightshade steel, firing as I heard it slam into it, and I watched wind rush out from behind it. So a 6.8x51 wind round is enough to penetrate 1/4-inch of Nightshade steel.

Moving to the enhanced Nightshade and firing this time, the shield rippled but held. Moving onto the lightning round and firing this time, the 6.8x51 didn't make it through the Nightshade steel, making me tilt my head, so it was the cutting power of the wind magic that helped. As I fired at the enhanced Nightshade, this time the lightning round shook the shield harder, but it still held.

I knew the limits of the standard Nightshade now; let's test the boundaries of the enhanced Nightshade now. Walking over to the Barrett and loading two rounds, one the wind round and the second one the lightning round.

Putting my earplugs in as I lay down, firing the first one as the ground around the target was cut to pieces by the wind magic, but the shield held together. As the bolt moved back, sending the spent round out, and moved forward, loading the lighting round, and I pulled the trigger, the shield rippled violently but kept together.

This made me whistle as that was pretty damn strong, and that shield took it like a champ. As I stood up, Míriel walked over and spoke, "Master, do you want to take a break. I made sandwiches too." She said with a slight blush, making me smile.

I nodded, taking a break wouldn't be a bad thing. I will skip the handgun rounds, as I don't think they can match the power of the .50 caliber, even if they had two magic types. I walked over to the table where she had laid out the food and drinks as I made another chair.

She moved her chair closer to me, poured a glass for me, and handed it to me.
