Chapter 6
Perhaps it was because they had guests, or perhaps because her husband was sleeping right beside her. After last night's passion, Feng Qianhua woke up earlier than usual this morning.
Shu Bicheng had wanted to persuade everyone to stay for lunch, but Zuo Du and Gu Airu, after finishing breakfast, decided to head home after a short while.
Feng Qianhua asked Zuo Hanyan if he wanted to stay and continue living at hIs aunt's house.
Zuo Hanyan looked at Feng Qianhua. Her smiling face was radiant with a special kind of brilliance, making her look even more beautiful than usual.
But this very same Aunt Feng, who was so beautiful, had actually cheated on her husband sleeping soundly beside her, with her daughter's junior in their own home last night!
Zuo Hanyan forced a smile at that moment and replied that he would go home first and come back in a couple of days.
Gu Airu, on the other hand, asked Shu Yihan if she wanted to come over to her house for a few days. Zuo Hanyan looked at Shu Yihan expectantly, but Shu Yihan paused for a moment before refusing, saying she would come another time.
Zhang Ming, of course, also had to take his leave. After the usual pleasantries, just as he was leaving, he suddenly said to Feng Qianhua, "Oh, right. I accidentally stained the bedsheets while eating fruit last night. Sorry to trouble you, Sister Qianhua."
When Zuo Hanyan heard this, a torrent of curses ran through his mind. He understood that Zhang Ming was hinting to Feng Qianhua to remember to change and wash last night's bedsheets.
Feng Qianhua said nothing. Shu Bicheng quickly chimed in, "It's nothing, it's nothing. You two take your time, be careful of the traffic lights on the road, and come hang out again when you're free."
Back in his own home, Zuo Hanyan sat on the living room sofa, messaging Shu Yihan on WeChat.
Zuo Hanyan: "Where should we go in a couple of days? Have you thought about it?"
Shu Yihan: "Not yet, how could I be so fast? You look around too."
Zuo Hanyan: Yes, ma'am (emoji)
There were still several days left in the golden holiday. Zuo Hanyan and Shu Yihan planned to go out for a trip on the last two days.
After chatting with Shu Yihan for a bit more, Zuo Hanyan put down his phone and leaned back on the sofa. He still couldn't calm down about what had happened with Aunt Feng these past two days.
Zuo Hanyan couldn't help but think of Zhang Ming's deliberately polite yet actually mocking hint when they left the villa this morning. After their intense session last night, the bedsheets must have been left with quite a few marks. He wondered what kind of mood Aunt Feng was in when she had to deal with those sheets.
This Zhang Ming, he actually managed to sleep with the "goddess" Aunt Feng, admired by everyone!
And what's more...
In bed...
He actually made Aunt Feng scream like that!
At this thought, Zuo Hanyan was filled with all sorts of unpleasant feelings that he couldn't even sort out.
Just this Zhang Ming, a completely unremarkable person, with unremarkable looks, and even his name was unremarkable.
Why would Aunt Feng sleep with him?
Aunt Feng was never short of admirers and flatterers, so she couldn't have been seduced by just a few sweet words.
Aunt Feng wasn't short of money either, so it was impossible she would submit herself for money.
If it was about feelings, there didn't seem to be any problem between Uncle Shu and Aunt Feng's relationship. At home, Uncle Shu doted on her and indulged her.
Besides, what kind of "feelings" could she have with a loser like Zhang Ming? In terms of looks, he had none. In terms of temperament, he had none. In terms of talent, he had none. In terms of wealth, he had none. What on earth could he have to captivate a woman?
So what was the reason?
Could it be just because...
Just because Zhang Ming had a huge dick?
That was the only reason he could think of, but Zuo Hanyan couldn't accept it...
The more Zuo Hanyan thought about it, the more chaotic his mind became. He wished he could know the whole story immediately.
Zuo Hanyan slumped on the sofa for a long while. By then, his mother Gu Airu, had already brought a fragrant lunch to the table.
Hearing his mother's call, Zuo Hanyan straightened up from the sofa and stood.
"You child, why are you so listless as soon as you get home?" Gu Airu said casually.
"Are you so used to being at Yihan's house that you don't want to come back to your own?" his father Zuo Du, also joked.
Zuo Hanyan picked up his bowl to get some rice, defending himself, "No, it's not that. I'm just tired from the car ride and want to rest for a bit."
Although Yihan's family's villa was luxurious and grand, something their own four-bedroom, two-living-room apartment couldn't compare to, his own home was still warmer and more comfortable. Besides, his mother's home-cooked food was truly delicious, and Zuo Hanyan would never give that up.
After lunch, Zuo Hanyan, with nothing better to do, turned on his computer and started playing games online with Ma Weimin, Li Cheng, and the others.
The speakers in Zuo Hanyan's room were filled with various game sound effects and the voices of his teammates; the battle in the game seemed intense.
Just then, Gu Airu pushed the door open and asked Zuo Hanyan for the name of a popular e-commerce influencer that was trending online recently. Zuo Hanyan couldn't recall it at the moment and only found out after asking his roommates and teammates over the game's voice chat.
Zuo Hanyan was curious why his mother was asking, and Gu Airu replied that she had mentioned the topic in a recent article. She then told Zuo Hanyan not to play for too long to avoid hurting his eyes and closed the door as she left.
His mother occasionally submitted articles to magazines and could be considered a writer. It seemed she was writing in the study now, so Zuo Hanyan consciously turned the volume of his speakers down a little.
The fun of the computer game also made Zuo Hanyan temporarily forget his troubles, and the day passed just like that.
The next day, Zuo Hanyan accompanied his parents shopping for groceries, another uneventful day.
On the day they had planned to go out, Shu Yihan said she didn't want to go far and suggested they just drive around the outskirts of S City.
When Shu Yihan came to pick him up that day, she looked to be in good spirits, but Zuo Hanyan still felt she wasn't very enthusiastic about having fun.
Zuo Hanyan understood that Yihan was probably only accompanying him as planned because she didn't want to disappoint him. In reality, her mood was still troubled by her mother's affair.
He wasn't sure if Yihan even knew that Zhang Ming was the one her mother was having an affair with. Zuo Hanyan really wanted to help Yihan share her burden and worries, not to mention he was troubled himself. He was even agonizing over whether or not he should even bring this up with Yihan.
Putting himself in her shoes, from Yihan's perspective, her mother whom she could be proud of and who had always been seen as a "goddess" in everyone's eyes, had actually cheated. And her shameful, wanton moans had been heard by her own fiancé. How embarrassing and humiliating was that? What would her boyfriend think? How would he view his future mother-in-law?
So Zuo Hanyan was very clear that he couldn't easily bring this matter to light.
After spending another day of the holiday with Yihan, Zuo Hanyan felt that she wasn't really in the mood to have fun, so he decided he had to first figure out the whole story as soon as possible.
After much thought, Zuo Hanyan believed that if he knew about that so-called APP of Zhang Ming's, he would definitely be able to find out more. But how could he find out? He couldn't just ask him directly. And trying to peek at his phone screen every time he used it wasn't realistic either. Besides, Zuo Hanyan didn't even know Zhang Ming's whereabouts.
As he was thinking, a sudden idea flashed through Zuo Hanyan's mind: his drone. If he used his drone to spy on Zhang Ming, maybe he could find something.
The idea of using a drone to spy on someone's secrets even made Zuo Hanyan a little excited. He immediately sprang into action, no longer caring about the rest of his holiday, and went straight back to school to hole up in the lab.
He could skip his own holiday, but he couldn't not spend time with his girlfriend. It was the fifth day of the seven-day golden holiday; it wouldn't be right not to spend some of the remaining three days with his girlfriend.
Thinking of this, Zuo Hanyan sent Shu Yihan a WeChat message saying he had returned to school and that she should come over if she had time.
So, for the next two days, aside from spending time with his girlfriend, Zuo Hanyan focused all his energy on his research.
The bionic drone Zuo Hanyan was developing had always pursued the small size and agility of a bee or a dragonfly, so it was already quite advanced in that regard. If it were to be used for surveillance, battery life would naturally be the first factor to consider. In addition, there was the noise issue, which had to be minimized to make it as difficult to detect as possible.
Small, lightweight, and long-lasting batteries were naturally quite expensive. Zuo Hanyan had to use up his meager savings and even his next month's living allowance to barely afford the battery order.
On the last day of the holiday, the battery finally arrived. Shu Yihan didn't come to the school to find Zuo Hanyan, so he had plenty of time to improve the drone's various performance aspects.
That afternoon, the university students had all finished their golden holiday and were returning to campus one after another.
His roommates hadn't returned to school yet. Zuo Hanyan sat alone in his dorm room, using his smartphone to control his drone as it flew all over the school.
Through his phone screen, Zuo Hanyan experienced the drone's high-altitude perspective, feeling as if he himself were soaring above the school.
Zuo Hanyan maneuvered the drone, flying it through a window of the gym and successfully entering the interior. Zhang Ming was nowhere to be seen, but he did spot the receptionist playing on her phone. Zuo Hanyan had the drone hover above the receptionist and used its high-definition camera to clearly see the content on her phone screen.
The drone had entered through the window and clearly seen the phone screen. The entire process went very smoothly, and Zuo Hanyan was very satisfied. This way, it was only a matter of time before he got some results by putting in some effort with Zhang Ming.
The only problem was that he still couldn't find Zhang Ming's whereabouts.
If only he knew which dormitory Zhang Ming lived in, at least he would have to return to his dorm eventually.
Should he just ask Zhang Ming on WeChat which dorm he lived in? But he would need an excuse.
Zuo Hanyan thought for a long time but couldn't come up with a suitable reason. After all, he rarely contacted him and wasn't very familiar with him.
Later, Zuo Hanyan finally thought of a way. He directly sent Zhang Ming a WeChat message: "Which dorm are you in again? I forgot for a moment."
Zhang Ming replied quickly: "I'm in South Garden, Building 6, room 6XX."
Then another message followed: "Did you need something, senior?"
Zuo Hanyan replied: "South Garden? Aren't you in East Garden?"
